Atlantis, die Urheimat der Arier

Translated from this book (1922)

First Section

The original homeland of the blond, blue-eyed Aryan tribe, which is also generally known among us by the name Germans, was the island of Atlantis. This island sank in the sea through the catastrophe known as the Sintflut, and its remnants still rise above the Atlantic Ocean in the Azores Islands.

Due to the location of the island of Atlantis between Europe and America, migrations took place not only to the first continent but also to America. The emigrants therefore also brought the old traditions about the events that had occurred on the island to the new lands and continued them there. To explain the historical events on Atlantis, one must therefore also draw on the American traditions, which moreover reach much further back than the European ones and report on events that lie far before the Sinthbrand.

The European mythologies (sagas, traditions) report of four world ages, which are called the golden, the silver, the bronze, and the iron world age. These world ages, however, only cover the time period between the Sinthbrand and the Sintflut. It is different with the world ages mentioned in the American traditions. These encompass much longer time spans than the world ages mentioned in the European mythologies and treat time periods that were of the greatest importance for the history of the Atlanteans, that is the Aryans as they called themselves. At the end of each of the first three world ages a severe visitation of the Aryans takes place. The sequence of the world ages is not given completely uniformly in the American traditions. Since the last world age is now ended by the sinking of the island into the sea and the preceding one finds its conclusion through a rain of fire, so for the two previous world ages the end comes through hunger and through wind. Which of these was the first and which the second world age, the traditions do not agree on. The sequence given in the Codex Chimalpopoca — Sun of the Tigers or Hunger, Sun of the Wind, Sun of the Fire and Sun of the Water — might, since the two last world ages are correctly given, also be the correct sequence for the two first world ages.

The first world age (or sun) finds its end through hunger, in that an evil spirit destroys all grass and all flowers and vegetation and thereby brings death to humans and animals. This is confirmed by the usual tradition. According to Gomara the destruction is reported through earthquakes. According to both versions of the myth it is always the earth that has brought about the downfall of the first world through the denial of its goodwill. What still remained of humans after the hunger or the earthquakes was eaten by tigers or turned into tigers.

The second world age is that of the wind or the air. At the end of this world age mighty hurricanes arose which uprooted trees, destroyed houses and even rocks and killed the humans. Only the birds escaped, and the humans who had been transformed into birds. A single human pair saved itself in a cave.

The third world age is that of the fire. The god of fire descends to the earth at the end of this world age in order to destroy it. Only the birds escape, and the humans who had been transformed into birds. A single human pair saves itself in a cave.

The fourth world age is that of the water. At the beginning of this period the serpent woman Cihuacoatl or Quetzalcoatl populates the earth. She gives birth to twins each time. She was later revered as mother of the human race and protectress of children, above all as a goddess of the first rank. At the end of this world age the goddess of the water Matcacueje, the wife of the water god Tlaloc, appears and destroys through a general flood the human race.

In the Mexican tradition the duration of the four great world ages is also given, and according to Humboldt’s calculation it amounts to 18,028 years. Furthermore, both in the American tradition and in that of the Egyptian priests, which was reported to the Greek wise man Solon and later also to the Greek historian Herodotus, time data are found according to which the downfall of the island of Atlantis, i.e. the Deluge, took place approximately 9,600 years before our era; this results in a total time of 29,500 years from the beginning of the first world age to today. From this it follows that the Aryans for 29,500 years, if not longer, knew a time reckoning and thus lived in order and discipline.

While for the first two visitations through hunger and storm, which one can therefore also designate as Sinthunger and Sintsturm, no closer details are found in the traditions, for the two later visitations through the fiery comet hail (Sinthbrand) and through the disappearance of the island in the sea (Sintflut) as well as for the events in the intervening time quite precise traditions have been preserved, both in the old and in the new world.

Furthermore, in the various mythologies, besides information about the events in the time between Sinthbrand and Sintflut, there are also references to the division of the land, the buildings, the customs and practices and other conditions in Atlantis. In view of the strong gaps that exist in all mythologies, one must, in order to form a coherent picture of Atlantis and the events and conditions there, compare the mythologies with one another, combine what fits and supplement them mutually.

Second Section

The fiery hail (Sinthbrand), which was presumably caused by a comet and brought the Earth into too close contact, does not appear to have struck and devastated the entire island of Atlantis, but only the southern part, in which the fertile plain inhabited by the Aryans was also located. Here the Aryans had merged into a large community. The northern, uninhabited part, in which the volcanoes were located and which was probably covered by heavy primeval forests — for which reason it was also not taken into cultivation by the Aryans — was spared by the world fire or had suffered less, so that animals were able to survive there.

According to reports, the comet apparently only grazed the southern half of Atlantis, so the main area of its devastation must have extended further south from Atlantis. Due to the rotation of the Earth, the comet must therefore also have affected the regions south and southwest of Atlantis. South and southwest of Atlantis lies the Atlantic Ocean; there a fire could leave no traces. It is different with the lands that lie south of the latitude and east of the longitude of the Azores, i.e. mainly northern Africa, therefore the Sahara and further east to Arabia. In the Greek saga of Phaethon it is also stated that through the passing mountain span of the sun chariot, which the youthful, inexperienced Phaethon could no longer control, the Earth was set on fire. In Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Book 2, verse 40 it says:

“Then first the Negro hordes blackened
From the blood that boiled into the pores;
Then Libya’s fields became Saharas,
Where all moisture the heat devoured.”

Other regions are also mentioned, such as Scythia, the Caucasus, the Alps and others, which were hardly affected by the fiery trail of the comet. The presentation of all the regions known to the ancients shows that the Sinthbrand probably destroyed the entire world. The Aryans later, upon their arrival in North Africa, still found traces of fire everywhere, from which they had to conclude a greater extent of the world fire. It is now very probable that countries which were already not very rainy in themselves were transformed by such an immense fire, which destroyed the entire vegetation, in such a way that they remained deserts forever. That the Sahara was in long past times often water-rich and therefore also vegetation-rich is shown by the numerous dried-up riverbeds and further by the petrified tree remains that have been found in the area of the Sahara. The comet must therefore have grazed the Earth much further east of the longitude on which the Azores lie.

The traditions give a very precise picture of the course of the Sinthbrand. The fiery hail set in towards evening of the spring equinox with a kind of speed and violence, so that of the entire numerous Aryan tribe that populated the plain only three humans survived, who by chance found refuge in a cave located on the edge of this plain before the destructive flood. These three were an already somewhat aged man, his much younger sister and the small, about nine or at most twelve year old daughter of the latter. Of these the woman was so severely wounded that she died on the same or the following night.

As the traditions further report, she gave birth while dying to an immature fruit, or rather the child had to be extracted by an incision from the body of its mother by the man or old man, who had moreover lost an eye in the Sinthbrand. This child was a boy who came into the world as a seven-month child and from whom the old man, who became his foster father, and by his little sister, who first became his foster mother and later his wife, and was nourished with the help of animal milk. The traditions do not agree on which animals were the milk providers. Presumably it was several animals that had to suckle the child in turn, and these apparently included a wolf or dog type, then a wild goat and a deer; from these it seems the wolf or dog became accustomed to humans in the rescuing cave. Since the Aryans at that time were still vegetarians, the animals approached the humans without shyness near the cave. It was therefore not difficult for the old man to accustom some of the animals to giving milk for the child.

That three humans of the Aryan tribe survived the Sinthbrand was due, besides the protecting cave, to the two springs that formed the so-called Urd spring of Nordic mythology. Of these, one was cold and the other hot; the former was probably located more towards the cave, while the hot one lay closer to the Yggdrasil oak. The hot spring developed strong steam, through which the foliage of the Yggdrasil was always kept moist, and this is said to have caused the Yggdrasil to withstand the fire of the world fire. On the other hand, it must be noted that the water of the Urd spring did not boil away during the world fire; at the same time the onrushing cool water brought relief to the surviving humans and thus enabled them to survive the terrible fire that destroyed the entire remaining Aryan people.

The Yggdrasil is referred to in Nordic tradition as an oak; this cannot however be correct. Ygg or Yg means namely with the Nordic Eg and the English Oak = Oak, and Yggdra or Yggra with the Nordic Egetrae and the English Oaktree = Oak, Oak tree, so that Yggdrasil is identical with Soul. Yggdrasil would therefore mean Oak tree of the Soul, or, since Soul = Life, also Oak tree of Life and thus Tree of Life. The designation Tree of Life points to the fact that this tree provided a fruit serving for satiation and for life.

Under the oaks there are several species that have edible fruits. These sweet acorns can either be eaten raw or roasted, or, as was the case in Atlantis, also used as bread meal. One of these species, which is otherwise always present, comes both in Western Europe and in North Africa. Such an oak was then the Yggdrasil, which was kept moist by the water vapour rising from the Urd spring and thereby escaped the world fire. It remained green and fruit-bearing, and it was this which in the first time provided nourishment for the foster father and his little niece.

The tree worship that is found in all parts of the world was therefore a worship of the Tree of Life Yggdrasil. This tree was often represented symbolically by a simple cross sign and in this form was worshipped in the various parts of the world. The custom of the cross itself was very widespread in ancient America; crosses or also trees were planted on the graves of the deceased, crosses were worn as amulets, and cross signs protected against ghosts at night. The cross was also directly called the “Tree of Life” in some regions of America and worshipped. The cross established by Quetzalcoatl or Huemac was worshipped as god of rain or of health and as tree of nourishment or of life. Also in the form of the swastika the cross is found in Europe, Africa, Asia and America.

The spring cult, which was just as widespread as the tree cult and which both were frequently connected, is to be traced back to the sacred Urd spring, on which indeed the Yggdrasil also stood.

With this Urd spring is also connected again the water baptism, which is to be found in the most diverse parts of the earth was. This custom was also present in Germanic prehistory. The water baptism is to be traced back to the old Atlantean custom of baptizing the newborn with the water of the holy Urd spring, with the water of life in which the primeval parents once lived. Besides a water baptism there was also a fire baptism, in which the newborn was swung through the fire. This custom also has reference to the Sinthbrand; the child was to be made resistant to fire through this. The jumping over the fire by the bridal couple also has the same meaning.

The saga of the rejuvenating spring or youth spring, which is also found in the most diverse parts of the earth, is also connected with the Urd spring. Thus in the German heroic saga of Wolfdietrich this youth spring appears. Wolfdietrich was led by the rough elf on a ship across the sea to a land (Troy), where she bathes as queen; there she sheds her rough skin and emerges with the new name Sigeminne as the most beautiful of all women. This land (Troy) is Atlantis, and the youth spring is said to be the Urd spring. In the Edda it says: “This water is so holy that everything that comes into the spring becomes as white as the skin that lies inside the eggshell.” This is a similar process that one can often observe at hot springs, in that objects placed in them are covered with a white sinter layer. On the Azores there are still hot springs today that deposit sinter.

Furthermore, the German folk belief is connected with the Urd spring, according to which storks bring small children from a pond. This pond is the Urd spring, and the stork takes the place of the swan, because the Edda reports: “Also two birds nourish themselves in Urd’s spring, the hot swans, and from them comes the bird species of this name.”

The three first humans of the new post-Sinthbrand era are to be found in the most diverse mythologies.

They are also represented particularly clearly in one of the American traditions, where the great foster father leads to the name Bochica, his foster daughter the name Bachue, and the boy who came into the world shortly after the fire rain, the foster son, is designated as the boy-husband.

In the tradition of the old Saxons, however, only the great foster father appears clearly under the name Wodan, while his two foster children as Donar and Sagnor come less into consideration. Also in the trinity Sun, Moon and Fire, which, as Caesar writes, were worshipped by the Germans, these three are again to be found, in that the Sun is the foster father, the Moon the foster son and the Fire the foster daughter, as goddess or guardian of the hearth fire.

The personification of the first humans as Sun, Moon and Venus is also found in America, but this personification or worship of the ancestors in the heavenly bodies is not uniform everywhere. In some regions the Sun is considered the symbol of the foster father, the Moon as that of the foster son and the star Venus as symbol of the foster daughter. In other parts the Moon was again divided between the foster daughter and the star Venus for the foster son. Again one finds in other regions the Sun as symbol of the foster son and the Moon as that of the foster daughter; or also reversed, so that the Sun is the foster daughter as the older of both siblings and the Moon the foster son as the younger or smaller one. The foster father was in this case then personified through the rainbow or through the morning red, which precedes the Sun. The latter as well as the morning red seem to fit — apart from one or the other designation for the foster daughter — also as symbol for the mother of both children who came into the world during the Sinthbrand. Consequently, the most famous of the descendants of the primeval parental couple are later personified as stars or star images, such as Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Hercules, the Pleiades, Hyades and others. This star worship is therefore nothing more than ancestor worship. It also forms the basis of the various religions that arose from ancestor worship and the law of custom or custom worship.

The biblical tradition also begins with three persons. Of these, God the Father is identical with the foster father, while Adam represents the foster son and Eve the foster daughter. The only difference is that Eve was the older one and Adam the younger, and that Eve was not taken from Adam’s side, but that Adam was cut from the body of his mother, who had suffered injuries in the Sinthbrand. As the Bible further reports quite correctly, the primeval parental couple had three sons, while the daughters, whose number was four, are not further mentioned. Of these four daughters, the oldest remained unmarried, while the other three pairs continued the Aryan tribe.

While in the first time after the Sinthbrand the primeval parental couple and the first generations settled at the Urd spring, later, as the tribe became more numerous, there was again a resettlement to the great plain, which was then again taken into cultivation.

Third Section

In the Bible, right at the beginning with the creation of man, the existence of irrigation is mentioned: “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided into four main rivers.” This irrigation was therefore already present from pre-Sinthbrand time. Even if the old system of the primeval parental couple and the first generations was not put into operation and could not be, it was later, when the tribe had become numerous, put into operation and enlarged again, in order to once again have nourishment throughout the entire year.

This biblical tradition also appears in Plato’s report, only more detailed and precise. According to this, a main canal went around the plain, which took in the rivers flowing down from the mountains. From this main canal, other interconnected canals were branched off from its upper part, which led through the plain, so that this was crossed by a regular network of canals and could be irrigated.

The construction of the canals is traced back to the beginning of the second world age, after the first world age had ended through a terrible drought that claimed many human lives, while the rest of the wild animals on Atlantis were decimated, which, driven by hunger, attacked the humans. As the Aryan spirit found a remedy for every evil, irrigation was introduced to prevent such misfortunes and the spear was invented. With the help of this irrigation, the extremely fertile plain in a warm climate produced abundant harvests. The irrigation system was therefore for the inhabitants of the Atlantean plain or Midgard, as it is called in the Edda, just as valuable and nourishing, as if milk flowed there. From this comparison the designation of the land as “flowing with milk and honey” arose. This refers to a tradition that is transferred in the Bible to the land of Canaan.

What the main nourishment of the Aryans was does not clearly emerge from the traditions. In Ovid it says:

“With what contented him, what he willingly offered,
The man was satisfied from the tenth to the ninth,
What tree and bush bore at nut and shoot’
And what barley’ and oat tree adorned him.
Zeus’ oaks gave him his daily bread,
The thorny blackberry bush the sweet berries.”

From this it seems as if the Aryans nourished themselves from fruits that grew wild for them. This may have been partly the case, but they had no irrigation necessary for this. Since such existed, however, they must already many thousands of years before the Sinthbrand have cultivated cultivated plants and practiced agriculture.

As Atlantean main food plants of the oldest time only those can be considered that are found both in the old and in the new world, and that were perhaps already brought from Atlantis by emigrating Aryans in pre-Sinthbrand time, together with the art of irrigation, both to the warm regions of the old world and to America. Such plants are: the banana, the taro (a tuber fruit) and the bean; these plants are moreover very grateful for irrigation. Besides, the yam root and the coconut palm probably also come into consideration, because the latter was also at home in Atlantis according to Plato.

Regarding the banana, Humboldt says that banana plants have accompanied man since the earliest childhood of his culture. If one further considers that in the banana every seed formation is completely interrupted in favor of the fruit flesh, so the variously expressed claim is justified that the banana belongs to the oldest cultivated plants of the world; its cultivation must therefore have begun in the earliest times. In the Bible this fruit is also mentioned, only under another name: The scouts sent to the Promised Land brought among other fruits also a grape of wine with “and two carried it on a pole”. The land “that flows with milk and honey” does not mean the land of Canaan, but the land of Atlantis, and the fruit that two men had to carry on a pole was not a grape of wine, but a banana bunch, which can weigh up to fifty kilograms. The banana plant loves warmth and moisture and good soil. All this was present on Atlantis, and what was lacking in moisture was supplemented by irrigation; even today the banana thrives on the Azores. The designation of the banana as paradise fig or Adam’s apple probably also did not come entirely from the air, but some dark tradition probably contributed to it.

According to Ovid, grain originally did not belong to the first food plants, although it was already cultivated during the golden age. At first this was done by hand with a stick or a hoe-like piece of wood, but already in the silver age, according to Ovid, cultivation was improved by plow and yoke. Also the Scythian saga knows plow and yoke in Atlantis, because under their first kings, as Herodotus reports, a plow, a yoke, a bow and a quiver, all made of gold, fell from heaven into Scythia. This means that these things were already in use in Atlantis, and that the Scythians brought some pieces of them with them when they migrated north. In the Peruvian tradition the exact time of the invention of the plow is given, and although this was done by Thor’s ancestors or father, who died 1500 years after the Sinthbrand.

In various traditions it is spoken of that the primeval mother knew weaving and taught it. In the Bible, however, it says that the first humans sewed fig leaves together and made aprons for themselves. Probably besides weaving there was another older method of making clothing, which is to be regarded as the older one; this did not consist in the plaiting of fig leaves, but in the processing of the bark of the fig tree into fibers. This happened in such a way that the hard bark was removed from the stripped bark, whereupon the remaining bast layer was so long beaten until a fabric-like material was obtained from it, which serves as clothing. Even today such bark fabrics are made in Africa, and precisely in the regions in which banana culture is at home, and for this purpose the bark of wild fig trees is used.

The eating of meat food among the Aryan population only came about in the post-Sinthbrand period, when through immigrating non-Aryans and mixed races from the settlements on Atlantis itself a mixed population arose that could not completely abandon the habits of their non-Aryan ancestors. While the non-Aryan races devoured everything that could serve to fill the stomach and for satiation, the Aryans until then had only lived from plant food, which they carefully selected for its digestibility. When they now later tried meat food, it turned out that it was not only less beneficial to health, but that after consuming the various types more or less discomfort set in, which led to a restriction of meat consumption and in some cases a complete ban on meat consumption.

It is said that in consequence of experiences it was recognized that many types of meat were directly forbidden and for others the interruption of meat consumption for a certain time was prescribed, e.g. fasting was ordered. The welfare of fasting as well as abstinence in every respect with regard to human

The body was probably already known and practiced in Atlantis from earlier times.

The food prohibitions that one encounters among the various peoples therefore partly go back to these old Atlantean regulations, which probably underwent manifold changes in the course of time. Some prohibitions also partly stem from later totemism, because totemism or the totem plant, which the respective non-Aryan or mixed tribe used as a designation, could not be enjoyed by this one. In part, prohibitions of political origin also exist, in that one party or one tribe declared the sacrificial animal of another party or one tribe as unclean, in order to avoid a mixing of their own people with the adherents of the opposing party. That such prohibitions were possible is also taught by German history: among the Germans the horse was a sacrificial animal whose consumption was later forbidden by the Christian priesthood.

While in the ages before the Sinthbrand the main seat of administration was probably located in the middle of the great plain, after the Sinthbrand this main seat moved to the area of the Yggdrasil and the Urd spring, which in Nordic tradition bears the name Idafield. Here at this holy place, which was the starting point of the new race, not only the seat of the supreme administration was established, but also the facilities for the education of boys and girls, which were built here in all directions. Further, the sick rooms for the sick and infirm as well as for those who remained single and now occupied themselves with weaving and the manufacture of other utensils for the administration and for the facilities of the Idafield came here.

This Idafield lay at the edge of the plain and was separated from it by one or more water surfaces or watercourses. These were later, in order to establish a connection with the canal system and to better defend the Idafield be connected, so that the Idafield thereby became an island. Furthermore, this water belt was connected by a long canal with the sea, in order to enable the seagoing vessels a direct traffic as far as the capital.

The water that separated the Idafield from the plain (apparently two land rings and two water rings around the Idafield were later laid out in later times) was later bridged, so that the Idafield could be reached dry-footed from the great plain. According to Plato the bridge was one hundred feet wide and built of white, black, and red stones. This bridge is also mentioned in Nordic tradition under the name Bifröst, where it says of it: “It has three colors and is very strong and made with more art and understanding than other works.” In the memory of the Aryans who had migrated north, the Bifröst bridge was as beautiful and colorful as the rainbow. In the course of time, as the true meaning of the tradition was increasingly lost in oblivion, the bridge that was “as beautiful as the rainbow” was retained for the rainbow itself. In Nordic tradition it further says: “That the gods made a bridge from heaven to earth, which is called Bifröst.”

With “earth” the great plain is meant, while “heaven” means the hill or mountain behind the Urd spring, which bears the designation Himmelberg or briefly “heaven”. Above on the Himmelberg, which was later terraced, was the “Himmel’s castle” with a high seat for the Allfather (king), from which one had a wide view in all directions. The Himmelberg further contained in its interior large hollow spaces, which were either already present in nature in such an extent or were first artificially created and expanded; these were not only connected with each other, but also with the cave at the Urd spring as well as with the temple or palace, the castle, on the top of the Himmelberg through passages. These hollow spaces inside the mountain served partly as treasure chambers, partly as places for the burial of princes and other personalities who had made themselves deserving of the welfare of the tribe; their bodies were carefully embalmed and then laid to rest in the Himmelberg. The other members of the tribe were buried in stone graves. When later the tribe became very numerous and through traffic with the overseas settlements diseases were introduced, cremation of corpses on wood piles came up.

This must not be confused with the later usual cremation of corpses in one of the volcanoes. Also in legends that developed in late Atlantean time on Atlantis about the priest-kingship and its laws, the punishment by throwing into the eternal fire that burned in the interior of the volcano, the hell region, was carried out in full. Likewise this punishment was carried out in full on corpses of such persons who had violated the laws of the priest-king or priest-god or otherwise stood in opposition to the priestly rule. So e.g. Baldr’s corpse was secretly stolen by his opponents and thrown into a volcano. On the other hand, those personalities who had shown themselves as true adherents of the priest-king or had otherwise made themselves deserving around him and his rule received an honorable burial if not even on the Idafield itself then on the island.

Already before the beginning of the priestly rule, when the governing power on Atlantis was still in the hands of the kings, it seems to have been customary that in the overseas settlement areas deceased Aryan settlers were brought back to their home island for burial, and this must also have been the case here in the north, as among other things from the expression “absegeln”, which in popular speech is very often used for “sterben”, is evident. Later, as rule on the island and in most overseas areas fell to the priest-king was (the Aryans who had migrated to northern Europe, however, never stood under its rule), this custom was probably further extended in order to gain an even greater influence. The decision as to whether the corpses of the deceased were to be buried on the island or delivered to the eternally burning fire in the interior of the volcano was then submitted to a special totem court on the island of Atlantis.

The great plain, originally the only inhabited area that occupied the south of the island of Atlantis, was in new times divided into nine districts and the Aryan population of each district was again divided into two groups. From this resulted 18 groups or clans, each of which bore a special name that was composed of the consonants of the respective landscape and a vowel (= a rune). The difference here was that in one group of the landscape the respective consonant came first and the vowel after it, and in the second group of the same landscape the vowel came first and the consonant after it. From the 18 groups or clans into which the population was originally divided, further clans later emerged through intermarriages, which bore new names that were composed of the old ones, and indeed the name of the paternal clan came first and that of the maternal clan after it.

The emigrating clan members then took these names with them to their new settlement areas in the various parts of the world, which then partly continued there as country, tribal, mountain, river, and place names. It was namely in clan custom to name the places, regions or rivers where they settled with their own clan names. The same was also the case here in the north, which became the second home for the Aryan tribe. Here even the individual clans can still be traced in the family names, because these are to a large extent nothing more than old clan names and the bearers of the same still members of these clans.

The division of the population of the individual districts into two groups or clans each, just as the naming of the sub-clans that emerged from the intermarriages of the clans with special clan names, took place partly for the division of labor, in that the two groups of each district alternated weekly in the work. According to the oldest Atlantean time reckoning the year, corresponding to the new land conditions with two population groups each, was divided into 18 months. Each month in turn was divided into four weeks of five days each. These 18 months of 20 days each resulted in 360 days; the five extra days were observed as intercalary days. In order to bring the civil year of 365 days into agreement with the solar year, after the expiration of a 52-year cycle 13 days were intercalated and at the end of ten 104-year periods seven days were again suppressed. In the time between Sinthbrand and Sintflut a multiple change of the calendar system then took place. Presumably the later division of the year into twelve months and the week into seven days already took place in Atlantis, because this division was also found in America.

Apparently this year and week division was also brought by the emigrating Aryans to Germania, because already before the introduction of Christianity there was a feast day here in the north in the week, and indeed this was Monday. With this is also connected the designation “blue Monday”, because blue, besides the body color of the princes, had also become a sacred color. The other sacred color was white.

At the head of each district stood an eldest or prince who had emerged from the election of the district inhabitants and whose position was only for one year or a series of years. These nine princes or also the entire tribe then elected a further prince as supreme head or king (godfather), to whom however at the same time the Idafield was subordinate. With time, as the administration became more and more diversified, the election for life followed, and later the position, namely that of the king, passed from father to one of the sons. These ten Atlantean princes were then given a council or parliament consisting of fifty people’s representatives. Later the leader of the army (Mars, Ares) and the leader of the fleet (Neptune, Poseidon, Midgard serpent), who also had to maintain the connection routes with the settlement areas, were added. This increased the number to twelve. In the course of time, as the facilities of the Idafield became more and more extensive, a separation occurred, in that this led to the corruption of the Aryan state system, an own supreme head emerged, which in Nordic tradition (the Edda) bears the title Loki, and through the number thirteen became an unlucky number.

A further prince who was on the island but did not belong to the old princely council of the Aryans was the head of the non-Aryan and mixed population settled in the volcanic mountains. This is called in the various traditions after Vulcanus, Hades, Hephaistos, Pluto or, as in the Edda, Fenriswolf; other designations for him are Devil, Satan (although Loki is sometimes also meant by this) and then also fire god and hell prince, as prince of the volcanic or hell region.

Although the Idafield received some revenue from its own facilities, this was not sufficient in the long run to feed the population of the many facilities that were built on the Idafield over time. Since all these facilities and administrative buildings served common purposes, they had to be fed by the people, i.e. the population of the nine districts. For this purpose the nine landscapes delivered a part of their harvest to the Idafield, which lay at the edge of the plain and thus formed a tenth landscape, so to speak. Therefore the name tithe = tax also comes from this; originally it was not about the delivery of the tenth part of the harvest, but about the supply of the tenth landscape, the Idafield, with food.

The palaces and temples built on the Idafield were, as emerges from various traditions, covered and overlaid with gold and silver and adorned inside with these precious metals, which were present in abundance in Atlantis. For the other buildings they used partly stones of the same color, partly also multicolored stone. The ring walls also received an overlay of tin or brass (bronze). The architectural facilities of the Idafield must in later times, when everything was completed and most beautifully decorated, have made an overwhelming impression, of which one can hardly form an idea today, and which, as far as the use of precious metals is concerned, cannot be found again at any place on earth in similar splendor.

Fourth Section

A very detailed and remarkable tradition about Atlantis had been preserved in the Egyptian priesthood, which the Greek scholar Solon, on the occasion of his visit to Egypt, had communicated and which was then passed on by his descendant Plato to posterity as follows:

“I will tell this old story, which I heard from an old man. Critias was at that time, according to his own statement, nearly ninety years old, I approximately ten; it was precisely on the feast day of the Apaturia, and I was awarded the prize for the best recitation of poems on the boys’ day. Besides many other poems, many of us boys also recited poems of Solon, which were still new at that time. Now one of our tribesmen — whether he really thought so, or whether he wanted to do Critias a favor — remarked that Solon seemed to him the wisest of all men, and also the noblest of all poets. The old man — I still remember it very well and can still vividly recall it — was very pleased and said: ‘Yes, my dear Amynandros, if he had only been as famous as a poet as Homer, Hesiod or any other poet, he would have made his entire flesh immortal! But as it is, his poetry, which he brought back from Egypt with him, remained unfinished. What was the reason for that?’ asked the other. ‘The reason was the great and, with full right, famous war that our city once fought; but because of the long time and the death of its bringers, its tradition has not come down to us. Tell me from the beginning, reminded the other, what and how and from whom Solon heard it here and reported it. There is in Egypt, began Critias, in the Delta, at the tip of which the Nile splits, a district; one calls its inhabitants the Saitic, and the greatest city of this district is Sais, the birthplace of King Amasis. The inhabitants of Sais have a bond of friendship for their founders, who are in the Egyptian land, in Greek, as they say, Athena; they are therefore great friends of the Athenians and claim to be related to them. Solon was therefore received with honors when he came to them, and when he inquired about the earliest times from the priests here who were particularly experienced in such matters, he found that no one in Hellas had even a notion of these things. Once he now wanted to tell them about the oldest histories of Hellas, from Phoroneus, the supposedly first man, from Niobe and how after the Deluge Deucalion and Pyrrha survived; he listed the genealogy of their descendants up to the attempt to calculate the times for each individual by the years. Then one of the priests, a very aged man, said: ‘Solon, Solon, you Hellenes are always children and there is no old Hellene!’ ‘How so, what do you mean by that?’ asked Solon. ‘You are all young in spirit,’ replied the priest, ‘for in your heads there is no ancient tradition grown old with time and no knowledge grown old with time. The reason for this is the following. Often and in many ways men are destroyed, partly by fire and water, but also by countless other causes. For what is also told among you of Phaethon, the son of Helios, how he once drove his father’s chariot, and because he was not able, set the earth on fire and was himself struck by lightning — this sounds indeed like a fable, but the true core of it is the altered movement of the earth encircling the heavenly bodies and the periodic destruction of what is on earth through a great fire. Under it the inhabitants of the mountains and high-lying, water-poor regions had to suffer more than the inhabitants of the rivers and the sea; but when the water again rescues us, our savior in every need, from this affliction, the gods let the earth be purified with water, then only the mountain dwellers, the shepherds and herdsmen remain alive, but with you in the cities, however, the people are swept from the rivers into the sea, while in our land, on the contrary, the water from heaven flows down onto the plain; here it is so arranged that everything comes up from below over it. From these causes the oldest traditions are preserved among us in all things, and apply for the oldest. In truth there is in all things, however, not overly many or few or always a quickly changing succession of mankind. What with you or with us or elsewhere, be it great or small or somehow significant, is preserved from the oldest time in our temples, while so much has been lost. With you and in the other states, however, writing and the entire state life have only just reached a certain development, when already again after the usual period, a new flood from heaven breaks in over you, and only the unlettered and uneducated in life remain; then you always become young again and know nothing of our or your old history. At least your genealogies of the priests are recent, dear Solon, like children’s stories. You only know of one great flood, while there have been many before; and you do not know that the most beautiful and best race of men in our land once lived, from which you and all the citizens of your present state are descended, a small remnant of them having survived; this all remained unknown to you, because for many generations your ancestors lived without the art of writing.

Once, before the greatest destruction by water, the state that now bears the name of Athens was the best in war and in every respect excellently constituted; it performed the most beautiful deeds and had the best state institutions, of which the greatest and best are known to us under the sun.”

Solon expressed his astonishment here and asked the priest to tell him the whole ancient history of his state in exact sequence. The priest began: “I will not withhold anything from you, Solon, and I will tell you everything, for your sake and for the sake of your state, but above all for the sake of the goddess who reared and educated both your and our state from the beginning, and who founded your state a thousand years earlier than ours, after she had received the seed from the earth goddess Ge and the fire god Hephaistos, and later also our state. After our holy scriptures, the founding of our state is eight thousand years old, and yours is nine thousand years old, and I will now briefly tell you of your state institutions and their glorious deeds. We want to examine all this in detail and with leisure from the writings that lie before us.

From your constitution you can form an idea of our former institutions: one of all the classes separated from the others, the class of the craftsmen, whose individual classes, however, do not work for themselves but for the others, and the shepherds, hunters, and farmers; finally it will become clear to you that the warrior class was separated from all others, and that according to the law its sole activity consisted in the care of war.

Your weapons were the spear and the shield, which the goddess first taught you, as she first taught you. You can see from afar what care she has already devoted in their basic features to the education of the spirit: from all sciences that have to do with the cosmos, up to divination and the art of healing, the divine arts that are proper to man, she has sought out and appropriated all these sciences together with their related ones. After this entire arrangement and institution, the goddess first founded your state, in that she chose the place of your birth with regard to the fact that the there prevailing mild climate of the seasons is best suited to produce sensible men; since the goddess loves war and wisdom equally, she chose the place where she would most likely produce men similar to herself, and settled there first.

So you lived there under an excellent state constitution and many other good institutions, surpassing all other men in every ability, as is to be expected from descendants and pupils of the gods.

Under all the great states of your state, which we admire in our writings, one stands out through greatness and nobility: our writings report of the mighty war power that once put an end to your state, when it advanced in full arrogance against all Europe and Asia from the Atlantic Ocean.

For at that time one could still travel by sea to the region that is now called the “Pillars of Heracles”; an island lay before the mouth, larger than Asia and Libya together, and from it one could still travel to the other islands and from the islands to the entire opposite continent, which in truth is bounded by that sea with a narrow entrance; that ocean, however, is rightly called a sea and the land an island.

On this island of Atlantis there existed a great and admirable royal power, which ruled the entire island, but also many other islands and parts of the continent; in addition its power extended over Libya as far as Egypt and over Europe as far as Tyrrhenia. This kingdom once attempted, with united army power, to subjugate our and your land, and in general the entire region within the mouth with one blow.

Then it became apparent that the power of your state was superior in its entire heroism and strength to all men; all others in courage and war skill, it first defeated the Hellenes, but later through its own decline it was forced, against its own strength, to build and despite the external danger, to ward off the approaching enemy and to achieve victory; so it prevented the enslavement that had not yet taken place and became for us within the gates of Heracles a noble liberator.

Later, however, there occurred violent earthquakes and floods, and in the course of one terrible day and one terrible night your entire warlike race sank into the earth in a body under the earth, and likewise the island of Atlantis disappeared into the sea. Therefore the sea there can no longer be navigated and explored, because of the high masses of mud that arose from the sinking of the island, it is impossible.”

Before all this we want to recall into our memory what was reported nine thousand years ago, namely that war that took place between the peoples outside the Pillars of Heracles and all those who lived inside them, of which I will now give an exact report. Over the one side ruled our state, over the other the kings of the island of Atlantis. This island was, as mentioned, once larger than Asia and Libya together, but through earthquakes it has sunk and has left behind an impassable, muddy shoal that hinders navigation into the sea beyond.

In the nine thousand years that have passed since that time until now, many great floods have occurred, so that the earth, which in this time and in such events was washed down from the mountains, did not, as in other regions, accumulate around the heights in thick layers, but was carried around in a circle and sank into the depths. So now, as with small islands that compare with the former land, only the bones of the sick body remain, as the fat and loose soil was washed away and only the meager skeleton of the land remained.

In those old times, when the land was still covered with earth, its mountains were high and covered with earth, and its plains, which are now called stony ground, were full of fat earth; on the mountains there were dense forests, of which clear traces can still be found today. For now some mountains offer only nourishment for bees, but it is not so long ago that the largest trees that were felled there are still standing as beams for the largest buildings. There were also many high fruit trees and the soil provided rich pasture for the herds; especially the rain in the course of the year brought rich nourishment, because the water did not now, as with the bare soil, flow into the sea, but the receptive soil took the water into itself and stored it in its loamy ground and let it flow from the heights into the valleys as abundant springs and rivers; the places where these now exist still show traces of their former rich vegetation.

Such was that once so fertile land, and it was inhabited by true farmers, who in truth deserved this name, exclusively engaged in agriculture, to whom the rights of the best soil, the rich irrigation, and what the climate, the favorable change of the seasons permitted, were due.

Yet we now want to describe the conditions as they were with their opponents and from the beginning at their emergence; I hope that my account will not be lost to you, my friends, since I, as a boy, have already heard it exactly, and I can still report everything exactly. Only because of my youth I must send my report ahead, so that you are not surprised if non-Hellenic men bear Hellenic names; you shall learn the reason for this.

Since Solon wanted this story for his poetry, he made exact inquiries about the meaning of the proper names and found that those ancient Egyptians, who first recorded them, had translated them into their language; therefore he himself took the meaning of each proper name and wrote it down as low as it sounds in our language. These notes were also in my grandfather’s possession and are still in my possession today, and I have already examined them exactly as a boy. You should not be surprised, then, if you also hear proper names here as they sound in our language; their reason is now clear from the beginning of the long account that follows.

We have already reported above that the gods divided the whole earth into larger and smaller shares and settled themselves in holy places and sanctuaries: so Poseidon fell to the island of Atlantis, and he settled his descendants, whom he had begotten with a mortal woman, on a place of the following nature on the island.

On the coast of the sea towards the middle of the whole island lay a plain, which was the most beautiful and fertile of all; it was surrounded on the edge of this plain, about 30,000 feet (9144 meters) from the sea, by a low mountain on all sides. On it dwelt Euenor, one of the men who first rose from the earth, with his wife Leukippe; they had an only daughter, Kleito. When this maiden had grown up, her mother and father died, but Poseidon fell in love with her and united with her; he fortified the hill on which she dwelt, by drawing around it a strong protective wall; he established several smaller and larger rings, two of earth and three of water, alternately around the hill, each at equal distance from the others, so that the hill was inaccessible to men, since in that time there were still no ships and no seafaring. He himself, as a god, had no difficulty in making the hill, which he had made into an island, as he prepared it from the center outwards, what is called for a god no difficulties: he caused two springs to flow, one of warm and one of cold water, and made the earth produce all kinds of nourishing food in abundance. [32-33]

He caused two springs to flow, one warm and one cold, from the earth and rich fruits of all kinds to spring up for her. With the male descendants he begot five pairs of twins; he divided the entire island of Atlantis into ten parts and gave the oldest of the first-born pair the largest and best part and made him king over the others; these also became rulers, and each received many people and a large territory. He also gave names to all, and the oldest, the first king, the formerly ruling Atlas, from whom the whole island and the sea received their names; his twin brother, who received the outer part of the island from the Pillars of Heracles to the region of present-day Gadeira, received in the language of the country the name Gadeiros, which in Greek is Eumelos, a name that corresponds to the former naming of the country.

From the second pair he named one Ampheres, the other Euaimon; from the third the first-born Mnaseas, the younger Autochthon; from the fourth the older Elasippos, the younger Mestor; and from the fifth finally the older Azaes, the younger Diaprepes. These and their descendants ruled over many generations on the island of Atlantis and also over many other islands of the Atlantic Ocean; they also extended their rule as far as Egypt and Tyrrhenia.

From Atlas a numerous race descended, which was not only very respected in general, but also possessed the royal dignity through many generations, because the oldest always transferred it to the oldest of his first-born sons; and this race maintained such abundance of wealth as no royal house has possessed before or will easily possess again in the future; they were provided with everything that a city and a country outside could need. They received much from the island itself for the needs of life.

First, everything that mining or smelting of metals yielded; especially a kind of brass (orichalcum), which is now only known by name, but was then more than that, was extracted in many places of the island and highly valued at that time. The island also produced in rich abundance what the forest provides for the works of the builders, and nourished wild and tame animals in great numbers. There were also numerous elephants there; for there was not only food for all the animals that live on swamps, lakes and rivers, on the mountains and in the plain, but also for this, the largest and greediest animal species in equal measure. All fragrant things that the earth now produces in roots, herbs, wood, resins, flowers or fruits, it bore and produced in great abundance; likewise the “lovely fruit” and the fruit of the field, which serve us for nourishment, and all that we use as food, drink, ointment and oil, and finally the quickly perishable fruit of the fruit tree, for pleasure and delight, and everything that we use as dessert after the meal, all this the island, which at that time still had access to the sun, brought forth in wonderful and beautiful and in unlimited abundance.

Their inhabitants built, since the earth offered them all this, temples, royal palaces, harbors and shipyards, and arranged the whole land in the following order. First they built bridges over the canals that surrounded the old royal castle, and created a connection with the royal castle. This royal castle they built immediately from the beginning on a hill of the god and his temple; an early generation built their dwelling and each sought according to their strength to surpass their predecessor and his ancestors therein, until finally their dwelling through its size and beauty presented a wondrous sight. From the sea they led a canal three hundred feet wide, one hundred feet deep and thirty thousand feet long up to the outer ring and made the entrance into it from the sea as in a harbor and made it wide enough so that even the largest ships could enter. The earth walls between the ring-shaped canals under the bridges they broke through and made them wide enough for a single trireme to pass through between the various canals; the passage was covered so that one could pass under the ships. The height of the earth walls was high enough to rise above the sea. The widest of the ring-shaped canals was eighteen hundred feet wide; this same ring had the following earth belt; the next ring-shaped canal was two thousand feet wide, and this width had the following earth belt; the innermost canal, which surrounded the island itself, was one hundred feet wide; and the island, on which the royal castle stood, had three thousand feet in diameter.

This island and the earth belt and the hundred feet wide bridges that surrounded them they enclosed with a stone wall and built on the bridges on both sides against the passage from the sea to the tower and gate; the stones for this, white, black and red, were quarried from the middle of the island and from under the [page 34-35] earth walls on their inner and outer sides broken through; thereby they obtained on both sides of the earth walls openings for ship docks, which were roofed over from the rock itself. For their buildings they used partly stones of the same color, partly they joined stones of different colors, so that they gave them their full natural charm. The wall surrounding the outermost earth wall they provided with an overlay of brass, the innermost wall they poured over with tin, the castle itself with brass, which shone like fire.

The king’s castle inside the castle was arranged as follows. In the middle stood a temple dedicated to Kleito and Poseidon; it could only be entered by priests and was surrounded by a golden wall; in it was once the race of the ten princes begotten and born. Annually one brought from all ten territories the first fruits as sacrifice for each of them. Further there rose there a temple of Poseidon, six hundred feet long, three hundred feet wide and correspondingly high, in a somewhat foreign style of architecture. The entire outer side of the temple was covered with silver, the pinnacles with gold. Inside the ceiling was of ivory, decorated with gold and brass, the rest of the walls, pillars and floors were clad with brass. Golden pillars were placed there: the god himself, standing on his chariot driving six winged horses, so large that with his head he touched the ceiling, and around him a hundred Nereids on dolphins; for so many, it was believed at that time, there were. Besides there were still many other images of private people in the temple. Outside stood around it the golden images of the ten kings themselves, their wives and all those who had descended from them, as well as many other votive offerings from the kings and from private people from the city itself and from the ten subject foreign territories. The size of the altar corresponded to this splendor, and so was the royal palace in size of the empire and the splendor of the sanctuaries. They also used both springs, the warm and the cold, which in rich abundance offered wonderfully suitable water; they laid around them buildings and suitable plantations and directed bathing rooms, partly under the open sky, partly for winter in warm baths in covered rooms, the royal ones separated from those of the people, and especially for the women and swimmers for the horses and other draft animals, and arranged all these rooms appropriately. The outflowing water they led partly into the grove of Poseidon, in which trees of all kinds from particular height and beauty grew due to the goodness of the soil, partly they let it flow through canals over the bridges into the outer ring canals. There were sanctuaries of many gods, many gardens and exercise places laid out, own for men and for the teams of horses on the earth walls of the inhabited island, a special racecourse was located in the middle of the larger island, one thousand feet wide and its entire circumference arranged for chariot races. Around this racecourse lay the dwellings for most members of the bodyguard. The quartermasters of them were on the smaller, the castle closer lying earth wall as posts distributed, but distinguished themselves especially by loyalty, who lived on the castle itself in closest proximity to the palace.

The ship docks were full of triremes and all the equipment of a ship, which was kept in good condition. Such was the arrangement of the royal residence. But they had the three outer harbors in mind, so that a wall ran from a wall that began from the sea and in a circle the largest ring and at the same time harbors, everywhere thirty thousand feet distant; it ended at the same place at the mouth of the canal into the sea. The whole space took many densely built dwellings; the exit and the largest harbor were richly provided with ships and sailors from all possible regions, and it was noisy day and night with loud shouting, noise and bustle of every kind.

Thus almost everything was shared that was reported to me at that time about the city and that former residence of the kings. I must now also try to report on the natural condition and administration of the rest of the land. First, the whole island rose very high and steep from the sea, but the region near the city was a plain, surrounded by mountains, which flowed down to the sea, enclosed; it was quite smooth and even, longer than wide, three thousand stadia long, from the sea upwards in the middle two thousand stadia wide. This part of the whole island lay on the south side, in the north against the north wind protected. The mountains surrounding it are said to have surpassed in number, size and beauty all that now exist; they encompassed a multitude of richly inhabited places, rivers, lakes, meadows and fields with sufficient fodder for all domestic animals and wild animals and finally also large forests, which in their colorful variety of trees provided wood for all possible works. This was the natural condition of the plain, on whose further expansion many kings had worked. It formed for the most part a complete rectangle; what was still missing was supplied by a canal drawn around it [page 36-37] equalized; what is reported of its depth, width and length sounds almost incredible for a work made by human hands, besides all the other works; this canal was namely one hundred feet deep, six hundred feet wide and had in its entirety a length of ten thousand stadia. It took the rivers flowing down from the mountains into itself, touched the city on both sides, and emptied into the sea. From its upper part one hundred feet wide canals were led in a straight line in the plain, which flowed back into the main canal one hundred stadia apart; on this way wood was brought from the mountains to the city; likewise all other land products were brought through canals, and the canals connected with each other and likewise connected the city again with them.

The soil brought them two harvests annually: in winter as a result of the fertilizing rain, in summer as a result of irrigation through the canals. With regard to the number of inhabitants, it was determined that each plot in the plain itself had a military leader to command; each plot had a size of one hundred square stadia, and the number of all plots was sixty thousand; on the mountains and in other parts of the country the number of inhabitants was distributed immeasurably, all however were assigned to these plots and leaders. Each of these leaders had to provide a war chariot, so that in the whole ten thousand such chariots were available for war; furthermore each two horses and rider as well as a hoplite without shield, who carried a small shield and the charioteer, in addition two heavy-armed men, two archers and slingers, three stone and spear throwers and finally four sailors for the manning of 1200 ships. This was the order of the war service in the royal state; in the other nine states other regulations ruled, whose explanation would take us too far.

The relations of the government and the state dignities were ordered from the beginning in the following way. Each individual of the ten kings ruled in the territory assigned to him from his city over the inhabitants and stood over most laws, so that he could punish and execute them as he wished. The rule over themselves and their mutual relations was determined by the law of Poseidon, as a law that was delivered to them, from their ancestors on a pillar of brass engraved, in the middle of the island, in the temple of Poseidon. There they came alternately every fifth, every sixth year, to give the even and the odd number equal right, and consulted in these assemblies about common affairs, but also examined whether none of them had transgressed a law, and passed a judgment on it. When they were about to pass a judgment, they first gave each other the following pledge of loyalty.

They arranged under the steers, which grazed free in the sanctuary of Poseidon, a hunt without weapons, only with snares and nooses, and fought for the god, it might succeed for them, the most excellent sacrificial bull to catch; the captured bull they then brought to the pillar and sacrificed him on the pillar itself, without the inscription. On this pillar was besides the law an oath formula, which contained the powerful curses over the transgressor, who did not obey it. When they had now weighed all the limbs of the bull on the scales for the god, then they filled a mixing vessel and threw into it for each a drop of blood, all the rest however they threw into the fire and purified the pillar round about. Then they drew with golden drinking cups from the mixing vessel, poured their libations into the fire and swore, at the same time faithful to the law on the pillar their judgment to pass and each, who began his turn, to obey, in future no prescription to transgress and to rule no more according to other laws than according to those which their father had ruled. When then each of them had done this for himself and for his descendants, he drank and dedicated the cup as a gift for the temple of the god; then he took care of his meal and for the needs of his body. As soon as it became dark and the sacrificial fire had gone out, they all dressed immediately in a dark blue garment of highest beauty, sat down by the glow of the sacrificial fire on the ground, and extinguished all fire in the sanctuary and received and spoke right in the night, so often one of them accused the other of a law transgression. The passed judgments they wrote down, as soon as day broke, on a golden tablet and dedicated this together with their robes as a memorial. There were still many other laws about the rights of the kings in particular, the most important of which was that none should ever take up arms against the other, but rather all should help each other in the case that one of them in any city should attempt to overthrow the royal race; they should decide together, like their ancestors, about war and all other things, and give the decision and supreme command to the race of Atlas; but the right to put to death a king of their own family should no one have, except when the majority of the ten had approved it. [page 38-39]

This power, which at that time existed in those lands in such a way and in such extent, the god led against our land, for the following reasons, as the legend still reports today. Many generations had passed, as long as the divine nature was still effective in them, they were obedient to the laws and were friendly minded towards the divine, with which they were related; their disposition was upright and in every way great-souled; all vicissitudes of fate and all the changes of mutual relations they bore with equanimity and gentleness; every good besides ability they held for worthless and considered equally valid and more like a burden the abundance of their gold and other possessions; their wealth did not make them drunk and did not lead them to fail in self-control, for they recognized with sober sharpness how little all these goods only through mutual love, united with ability, thrive, but the eager striving after them but leads to ruin and with them also ability. With such basic views and the continuing effectiveness of the divine nature in them everything that I have previously described stood at its best. But when the divine part of their being, which came from the god, began to weaken through the frequent and frequent mixing with the mortal, and the human disposition prevailed, then they were no longer able to bear their prosperity in the right way, and appeared ignoble to those who could see through it, because they had gradually changed, in that they squandered the most beautiful under all possessions for the acquisition of gold and other possessions; but he who was not capable of seeing through this, what for a life truly leads to happiness, held them then for especially noble and happy, because they were in the full possession of unrighteous gain and unrighteously acquired power. But Zeus, the god of the gods, who rules according to laws, who could see such things, and saw that a virtuous race had come to a sad state, and that they were about to lose the beautiful disposition that they had, in order to return to their old way of life, brought punishment upon them, so that they might become reasonable again; he assembled all the gods in their honorable dwelling, which lies in the middle of the universe and overlooks everything that participates in becoming, and spoke . . .”

Here the account breaks off. Since he began this only in old age, it is likely that death overtook him before the completion of his work. From what we can gather from the beginning and the end together: When all exhortations were of no avail, i.e. as the already for a time before the final downfall of the island no improvement was brought about by the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

in the change of the Atlantean community of peoples brought forth, that during one terrible day and one fateful heavy night the island of Atlantis sank.

One now assumes that Plato invented this whole story in order to present to his countrymen an ideal state, as it should be and how it can go to ruin through bad management. It is concluded that Plato wrote down this story for tendentious purposes, because he would then have used the name of his ancestor Solon, in order to say that Egyptian priests had reported these events to Solon. Plato was also in Egypt and would, if he wanted to present to his countrymen the mirror image of a state sprung from his fantasy, which then through its own fault went to ruin, could just as well have explained it himself from the Egyptian priests. Precisely because he brings in the name of his ancestor with it, this must serve as a proof for the truth of the Platonic report; for it is not to be assumed that he would have been induced to mix with the name of his ancestor. Solon had visited Egypt and discussed philosophical and historical questions there with the most learned of the Egyptian priests. In view of the respect he enjoyed as a Greek scholar, it is quite possible that the Egyptian priests, from their reserve and from their secret knowledge, which they guarded before their own people, communicated something to a foreigner whom they otherwise regarded as equal in the sciences. It may also still have been a certain etiquette to have spoken with this famous Greek scholar, in that they could present themselves to this renowned Greek scholar as the superiors in knowledge.

According to the Platonic report, the history of Atlantis also begins with four people. That is Euenor, who is identical with the foster father; Leukippe corresponds to Semele, whose daughter Kleito is the foster daughter and Poseidon is the in the cave at the sea born boy, who in the Greek [page 40-41]

Mythology also appears as a river god. With Poseidon, the ruler of the seas, i.e. the commander of the Atlantean fleet, the Poseidon of Plato’s report has nothing to do. The report that when Kleito had grown up, her father and mother died, does not quite fit, because the mother died shortly after the end of the fire rain, while the foster father still lived long and not only instructed his foster son, but presumably also his children in the pre-Sinthbrand science. The foster father was, as already mentioned, a brother of Leukippe. Even if one assumes that he was the oldest of the twin brothers of Leukippe, he would hardly have reached the beginning of the old age at the time of the Sinthbrand. With the very high life expectancy of the Aryans in the early Atlantean period, it is to be assumed that a very high age was allotted to him.

Such inconsistencies, which occur with oral transmission, still occur further on, but they can easily be corrected by comparison with other mythologies.

Fifth Section

In the tradition that was preserved in Peru about the prehistory of Atlantis, it says: “These descendants (of the first human pair) lived perhaps a half million years in peace and unity with one another.” Such a peace on Atlantis must also have been ruled by the many preceding hundreds of thousands of years, because the disturbance of this peace and unity did not come from within, but was brought from outside to the island, and indeed from the three daughters of the flood heroes, as they are designated in the Edda.

Already before the Sinthbrand it was recognized in Atlantis that the world sea surrounding the island, the Atlantic Ocean, could be crossed, in order to provide the Aryan offspring, for whom the plain on the island no longer offered room, with suitable land for settlements, because the volcanic and forest areas of the island lying in the north were too difficult to cultivate. From the traditions of the Muzos in present-day Colombia (South America) and the Arcadians on the Peloponnese (Greece) it namely emerges that these peoples descended from Aryans who had already settled there before the Sinthbrand. It is very probable that at that time also in other parts of Europe, America or also Africa especially suitable places were taken, which were easy to cultivate, but the Aryans had either been driven out by war with the original inhabitants of the new land or had mixed with the original inhabitants of the land. In the course of time these descendants then became wild again through ever increasing mixing, who had forgotten every tradition of prehistory.

Nevertheless, these emigrants brought many Aryan skills, such as the preparation of fire and the manufacture [page 42-43] of stone tools, were brought to the new areas. If therefore in very old layers traces of fire and old stone tools are found, these will come from Aryan emigrants who had settled in those regions in pre-Sinthbrand time; from there these skills could then also have spread further with time.

When the Aryan tribe on Atlantis in the course of the following centuries after the Sinthbrand had multiplied so strongly again that an overpopulation threatened, one finds in the tradition of the pre-Sinthbrand time, which their ancestors had shared with the foster father, reminded and from new the step to overseas was taken.

The tribes, i.e. human tribes and not some tree tribes, which the Aryans there called and which in the Edda are designated with Ask and Embla, lived in a completely wild state. These tribes the Aryans, who came to them, be it as messengers or as settlers, first had to bring the knowledge of fire production, of agriculture, of the various handicrafts as well as the basic concepts of custom and law and a time division; in short, they first had to make these tribes into humans.

Also the reports about the natives of Mesopotamia, Asia, Africa, Australia and America*) agree all unanimously that these races also lived in a completely wild state and that they had not created the beginnings of a culture from themselves, but that everything was first brought to them by the Aryans. Many of these races have in many respects proved to be very teachable pupils, to which probably also still the Aryan blood component that they received through mixing with the Aryans may have contributed.

*) Whoever is interested in these questions as well as the many others that are not treated in detail here, will find more about them in the main work “History and History of the Aryan Tribes”.

Sixth Section

Whether the tribes of Ask and Embla were in the old or in the new world (although the former is more to be assumed) and in which century the Aryans from Atlantis came into contact with them, is not further stated. It is easily possible that this already happened before the end of the fifth post-Sinthbrand century. The three daughters of the flood heroes, who now after the end of the first five hundred years after Atlantis came, were apparently not ordinary daughters of flood heroes, but, according to the expression “kingdom on power” in the Edda, to be judged, the daughters of leaders of tribes or hordes, to which the emigrating Aryans had come. Further it seems that these three daughters of flood heroes from some of the princes on Atlantis, for political reasons or from opposition to the tribes of Ask and Embla, were married. As emerges from the Peruvian tradition further, not only the three daughters of flood heroes came, but also retinue came with them, and from this retinue, as is to be assumed, a part remained with the three daughters of flood heroes in the beautiful Atlantis.

In the Edda it is then soon afterwards mentioned a Heid, who with the daughters of flood heroes somehow in connection seems to stand, be it that it was one of their descendants or, what is more probable, that it was one of their descendants or those of their thuric kinship or retinue, who had remained in Atlantis. This Heid understands the art of magic, i.e. the art of magic, of sorcery, the art of preparing intoxicating beverages. Also according to the Mexican tradition the invention of an intoxicating beverage, which was invented by a woman, is traced back, in the history of Tulas, i.e. of Atlantis, the time of misfortune. [page 44-45]

In the Bible it is now Eve who, through the consumption of a forbidden fruit, commits such a sin that she is expelled from paradise together with her husband. Through the eating of an unrighteous fruit no misfortune could be caused, but through the art of magic, through the preparation of intoxicating beverages, already unrighteous misfortune was caused. It will probably be about a fruit, perhaps even about grapes, which instead of being eaten fresh, were sometimes fermented. After such an attempt the invention of an intoxicating beverage is easily understood, because pressed juice goes after a short time in fermentation and then has an intoxicating effect.

The expulsion from the Idafield is probably also not as a punishment for the preparation of intoxicating beverages, but only the excessive consumption made this a necessity. In the Mexican tradition a feast is mentioned that was celebrated on the foam mountain with the pulque invented by the woman Maiavel, and that the prince Cuezteco thereby became so intoxicated that he uncovered his shame. With the foam mountain the Himmelberg, the hill or mountain behind the foam spring, the Urd spring, is meant. This event is also found in the Bible, only in another form. Here it is Noah, of whom it is said: “And when he drank of the wine, he became drunk, and lay uncovered in his tent.” This hitherto unique event then caused the Aryans, whose whole striving through the expulsion from the Idafield had come to an end.

Instead of the expelled, who probably mostly belonged to the thuric race, being completely removed from the island, what perhaps the majority would no longer have been possible, the uninhabited mountainous part of the island was assigned to them. Until the time of their expulsion they were, as far as the established groves of the Idafield did not suffice in their yields, provided from the harvests of the plain. This now ceased and they had to provide for themselves in the mountains by cultivating the fields or searching in the forests for food.

The Idafield had to be protected against the return of the expelled, as emerges from the Bible. Especially the tree of life, the Yggdrasil, was protected. From the whole third chapter of Genesis it emerges that the strangers who were on the Idafield had fruit trees, to which also the oaks in the holy grove belong, to temptation. Only the Yggdrasil was excepted from this, because its fruits were collected and consumed at the annually occurring harvest festival of the Aryan tribe. This Yggdrasil was in the middle of the tree, whose fruits were not touched and eaten. But also this prohibition the strangers did not observe.

The course of the fall of man did not take place at the lifetime of the first human pair, but at least five hundred years later. Further the woman who gave the occasion to the fall of man was not the primeval mother Eva, but a quite different Eva and besides no Aryan. One can see from this example how in the traditions legendary transmissions took place and how events that lie many centuries apart are combined.

Consequently in the Bible the first murder is reported, in which Kain kills his brother Abel. This murder stands, the Edda says, in connection with the art of magic of the Heid. After the expulsion of those who had caused the expulsion, the preparation of intoxicating beverages was still further in use or even more adopted. It is however also possible that this murder took place before the expulsion, and that it had a reason or the main reason that caused the expulsion. The Bible however reports the murder only after the expulsion had already taken place long ago. Through the drinking of intoxicating beverages were now [page 46-47] the minds were heated, one word gave the other, and from words it later came to deeds. This event apparently took place in the palace or the great hall on the Himmelberg, “in the high hall”, which as a result of the desecration through the murder was given over to the flames and then rebuilt anew. The first murder mentioned in the Bible and this one treated in the Edda deal with the same event. The first murder that took place on Atlantis was committed by an Aryan against an Aryan, thus by a brother.

In the Edda after this murder a second murder is mentioned, which is translated by Legis with war murder. While the first murder was carried out only by one single man, in the second murder it was more about a fight, in which more than one participant had to lose his life. Further it was not about a fight of Aryans among themselves, such had not yet taken place, but about one with the mountain population, i.e. with the descendants of the formerly expelled who lived in the mountains of Atlantis. These were through their own increase and through new influx from Europe or elsewhere in the course of the centuries especially strongly increased.

With this different origin and mixture of the population of the mountain and forest area on Atlantis it seems the same was not uniformly hostile minded towards the Aryans; on the contrary, the inhabitants of many parts of this area, which in extent significantly surpassed the plain, seem to have stood partly in the following of the Aryans or their allies. Nevertheless this mountain and forest area was often enough in the princes of this mountain and forest area, who had their seat in the volcanic area, drawn into their fights against the Aryans.

According to the tradition that was preserved in Peru about the prehistory of Atlantis, King Huanakahui married the daughter of the highest chieftain of Hilljaka, Mama Mikay, and begot many children with her. Hilljaka means here the mountain area. The supreme chieftain of this area as well as his daughter were therefore not Aryans, but mixed races or non-Aryans. Presumably one of the sons from this marriage was to be forced onto the Aryan tribe as successor of his father with armed force, or one of these sons attempted, with the help of the warlike mountain inhabitants, who counted him as son of Mama Mikay and therefore supported him, to seize the kingship of Atlantis with violence, or had perhaps already made preparations for it. The Aryans on the other hand elected Sintfshi Rozke, the oldest son of Huanakahui from his first marriage with an Aryan woman, as king. The mountain inhabitants moved with a considerable armed force against Rozke, with which the Idafield is meant, but were defeated by Sintfshi Rozke after a bloody battle. The “warlike Vanen”, who traversed the field, therefore consisted of these mountain inhabitants. They as well as all other original tribes, besides the Aryans, were warlike, because with them from the beginning the right of the stronger was usual; who could not defend himself, lost his neighbor as booty.

The partly non-Aryan, partly mixed mountain inhabitants, to whom the Aryans in their magnanimity had granted the volcanic area of their island, then also in the course of time brought about the downfall of the Aryan state. When with time on the Idafield a numerous priest and scholar class developed, which was mixed with non-Aryan blood, this in its aspirations to suppress the power of the Aryan population and the Aryan people with the mountain inhabitants at any time willing helpers.

This fight took place at the beginning of the reign of Sintfshi Rozke, who around 1440 after the Sinthbrand took over the rule. [page 48-49]

Seventh Section

King Sintfshi Rozke was not to be granted a peaceful reign until the end of his life. Although he was recognized during most of his life by the mountain inhabitants as king of the whole island, in his old age he still had to experience being attacked by them again with war. The tradition preserved in Peru, which in such cases was almost everywhere transferred to the conditions of that land in which the tradition continued, says:

About forty Leguas away from Kuzko lay the from the tribe of the Tiahuanaco inhabited province Antahualla; two brothers, Huaman Huaroka and Hakoq (according to other Hatu) Huaroka, warlike, daring youths, it succeeded, several neighboring chieftains to subjugate and to make themselves master of a considerable stretch of land. From now on the ambition of both brothers knew no bounds. They resolved to conquer Kuzko and to subjugate its ruler. Only one circumstance held them back; the king of Kuzko was generally regarded as son of the sun, and this deity they feared to anger, if they attacked Sintfshi Rozke with war. They therefore sent an embassy to him and demanded that he recognize their supreme rule, otherwise they would declare war on him. The king replied to the envoys that he would give them an answer in a few days, sent messengers to the province Antahualla, to inform himself about the strength of the hostile army. Their reports turned out very unfavorably, they said that the number of the hostile warriors was not to be counted, that the majority consisted of wild barbarians, that the sound of their war horns made the earth tremble, that the common warriors themselves were almost the whole day drunk, their leaders however constantly kept watch. Sintfshi Rozke lost courage. After long deliberation he decided to subjugate the two brothers, but if the city had to be abandoned and to move with wife and children to the fortress Sagahuana and to await there the further course. Some councilors agreed with this, others opposed it. When the king noticed such indecision, he left with his women and small children the capital and moved to the aforementioned fortress. “Hardly had the inhabitants of Kuzko learned of the king’s departure, as well as their courage left them. They prepared themselves, Sintfshi Rozke’s example to follow, to flee and to hide in the forests. Only one and all Inti Kapak Yupanki, the king’s youngest son, encouraged his warlike brothers and relatives to resistance, assured them that their common father, the sun god, had appeared to him, had promised him his mighty help, also several golden lances had thrown over, by means of which one could defeat the enemy. As he really threw similar lances and under his command distributed them, his words gained faith and respect, under his leadership the enemies were expected. Inti Kapak Yupanki performed hereupon the following solemn act: “As the sons of the sun god and priests of the world creator Illja Tiji Huirakocha the kings of Kuzko can recognize no other overlords and must wonder that other rulers, instead of humbly going to Kuzko to offer sacrifices in the sun temple and to bring gifts, dare to threaten the children of the sun with war, although the peaceful inhabitants of Kuzko may not think of overthrowing anyone.” Hardly had the envoys brought this answer to the two chieftains, the latter advanced with their entire armed force against Kuzko. Through his messengers Inti Kapak Yupanki had not been able to obtain exact information about the movements of the enemy. These experienced the departure of the king and held it no longer for worthwhile to spare the dwellings of the prince, but trusted in their superiority. As the hostile army was now only a day’s march from Kuzko, Inti Kapak Yupanki decided to attack it before dawn and before the warriors had their usual morning drink. At dawn he broke out from Kuzko and after a short march reached the camp of the enemy, with which that of the prince was meant. Before daybreak the prince was still in his camp, without having put on armor or shield, the surprised enemies fell upon them and caused a terrible bloodbath among them. Victorious Inti Kapak Yupanki returned to Kuzko, found here his old father and was crowned by him in the presence of the army and with the consent of the entire kinship and elders as king of Kuzko.” This happened some years before the year 1500 after the Sinthbrand. A king with quite similar naming is mentioned as fifth successor of Inti Kapak Yupanki. It says of him: “Highly celebrated over this hero his son Inti Kapak Pirua Amaru the crown. After a short period the people rose against the old princes, his son because [page 50-51] of his burden of the throne to lay down and himself to seize the reins of government again. The dethroned king gathered free youths around him, left on their tip Kuzko and moved against the wild inhabitants of Collao, meanwhile he and other tribes inhabiting the province Tiahuanaco, turned victorious back to the capital and was now no longer alone by his father, but also by the entire population well received, again elected king and strong in the eighties of his life, deeply mourned by his subordinates.”

One of these, presumably the first, seems to be the original Thor, on whom however the being and the deeds of the other Inti Kapak were transferred.

Inti Kapak, who is completely identical with Thor in the Nordic tradition, also appears in the mythologies of other peoples, e.g. in Greek as Herakles, in Indian as Indra, in Mexican as Huitzilopochtli. Apart from the two names Inti Kapak and Huitzilopochtli, which were formed from the Peruvian or Mexican language, names like Thor, Herakles, Indra are clan names. That an Aryan king of the Atlantean prehistory was given different names among the various peoples is explained by the fact that the bards, or also the priests, who recited the old sagas on feast days or on other occasions to the tribe members, used the names of the first generations of their own tribe to designate the foster father, the primeval parents, Thor etc. These leading generations, all before the princely race, were to be revered accordingly. Likewise one transferred, as already mentioned earlier, the events on the island of Atlantis to the new homeland, in order to make them more illustrative to the tribal comrades. Likewise now names were used for the designation of the enemy, which the Aryan princes on the island of Atlantis formerly had, by the bards the names of the leading generations of the neighboring tribes or such tribes that were related or hostile to their own tribe.

After the foster father and the primeval parental pair Thor is the one of the ancestors who was celebrated by the descendants the most. The opponents whom he had to overcome were, as emerges from the Peruvian tradition, two brothers; the same is also reported by Indian mythology and likewise these two figures are still recognizable in Greek mythology. Of these two brothers the older was the prince of the mountain population, while it was granted to the younger to become leader of the Atlantean fleet, which at that time, both as far as the leadership and the manning were concerned, was mainly in the hands of the mixed races and non-Aryans. These two brothers now worked in their aspirations to seize the rule over the Idafield and over the Aryans.

Thor first had to reconquer the Idafield, which was already in the hands of the mountain inhabitants and had been transformed by them into a stable (in Greek tradition the expression cattle stable is used for this), and to pursue the defeated enemies into their mountains, in order to finally overthrow them there. After this was accomplished, Thor turned against the hostile or rebellious fleet, which was likewise defeated and whose remnants were pursued over the sea to the most distant corner. In the battles the two brothers also fell. True service was rendered to Thor by his weapon bearers or sub-commanders, who as the first also climbed the wall of the Idafield during the reconquest. Thor’s work was facilitated by newly invented weapons, and these were: armor, arrow and bow. Until then the weapon of the Aryan was the spear, which was not invented as a war weapon or hunting weapon, but only as a defense against wild animals that had become bold through hunger during the Sinthhunger. Besides arrow and bow seem to have been used by the Aryans still, in a special way constructed, throwing hammers or throwing clubs; such throwing weapons return, as one can still see on the boomerang, if they do not hit their target, back to their thrower. [page 52-53]

Eighth Section

Somewhat after the year 2000, reckoned from the Sinthbrand, a change occurred in the occupation of the royal throne, which had the most severe consequences for the Aryan tribe. While until then the royal throne had been in the hands of the Aryans, now for the first time a member of the priest and scholar class, who had developed on the Idafield and who was mixed with non-Aryan blood, ascended it. This ruler is called in the Peruvian tradition Lloque Tesag Amuata. Since Tesag apparently is the same word as Tayhacaa, which means high priest, and Amuata means scholar, his designation Lloque the high priest and scholar means. Lloque or Lloque is however the same name as Loki or Loke in the Nordic tradition. This clan name, which the first king from the priest and scholar class bore, is in Nordic mythology as title for the high priest of the earlier time and the priest-kings of the later time, when the whole power on the island had passed into the hands of the priesthood, retained. From Lloque Tesag Amuata onwards the title Amuata is often found in the name of the Atlantean rulers. The royal dignity was therefore not yet completely in the hands of the priesthood or the scholar class. So in the Peruvian tradition two rulers named Manko Auki Tupak Patschakutek and Sintfshi Apuski are mentioned, who did not bear the scholar title and who are presumably identical with Niörd and his son Freyr of the Nordic tradition.

Of these two it says in the Peruvian primal history: Manko Auki Tupak Patschakutek, a mighty war hero, extended the empire’s borders with the area of many neighboring tribes (among them the mountain inhabitants to subjugate), gave his laws, changed the time reckoning established by Kapak Amuata therein, that he set the 25th of September as the beginning of the year. He died old and weak in the fiftieth year of his reign and left the throne to the oldest, unworthy, his younger son Sintfshi Apuski, a courageous, daring, virtuous youth. The new king began his reign with the extermination of the idol worship that had gained the upper hand (i.e. among the mountain inhabitants), forbade all idol images and ordered, as supreme god the world creator Illja Tiji Huirakocha (i.e. Botschika) to worship. Because he had the religion purified, the people gave him the byname Huarma Huirakocha. In addition the king issued strict laws against adulterers, robbers, murderers, arsonists and liars and punished such crimes and transgressions with such unheard-of severity, that for a long time after his death no Indian (i.e. mountain inhabitant) is said to have dared to tell a lie. In the eightieth year he died, after he had reigned some forty years. His death falls in the year 2570 (after the Sinthbrand).

Under the Amuatas, the scholars who had attained the royal throne, must however also rulers be counted, who were still purely Aryan and acted in an Aryan manner. So in the Peruvian tradition a ruler named Tupak Amaru Amuata is mentioned, of whom it is said: “Earnest and silent this monarch spent his life, during his twenty-five year reign no one saw him laugh.” This ruler is identified with the silent Ufe Vidar of the Edda, of whom it is not only said that the gods trusted him in all dangers, but that he besides Baldr and some other gods survived or returned after the world downfall. This proves that he must have been an entirely outstanding king. The Edda reports further that Vidar’s mother Grid a giantess was, who however descended from the mixed mountain population. Vidar was therefore not a completely pure Aryan, but must have possessed a thoroughly Aryan inner life and stood fully and completely for the Aryans. According to the Peruvian tradition the silent Ufe lived in the previous century before the completion of the third great solar year (a solar year = one thousand years) after the Sinthbrand.

As earlier the priest and scholar class had striven to bring their own members to the royal throne, so later, after constantly new further influx of youths from the mountain land took place, who then [page 54-55] in his ranks were taken up, always more power-hungry and partly completely for his own members claimed the throne as well as the other influential posts. In these aspirations, to seize power for themselves and to suppress the Aryan population, the priest and scholar class found willing helpers at any time in the mountain inhabitants. Without doubt it has already since the time when Loki ascended the royal throne on the Idafield, often come to heavy fights between the Aryans on the one hand and the priesthood and the mountain inhabitants on the other hand, and in these fights the advantage was not always on the side of the Aryans. Nevertheless they remained in possession of the plain and also partly still from their ranks the kings for the throne on the Idafield. So was also the last king, who then in the decisive battle on the Wigrid field fell, an Aryan; in the Peruvian tradition he is called Titu Yupanki, a name that cannot be his own name from the Peruvian language. His predecessor on the other hand bore the byname Amuata, from which it emerges that this previous king was a member of the scholar class.

It is now not excluded that Titu Yupanki succeeded in ascending the throne against the will of the priesthood and scholar class, while they had the intention to occupy it again with one of their own. In any case, the striving of the priest class for sole rule had to lead to new fights, in which the king could only rely on the population of the plain, i.e. the Aryans. Since the Idafield had already long been in the hands of the priesthood and the places of the Aryans located in the plain no longer offered sufficient security, a strong fortification was built by the king on a steep mountain in the hills bordering the plain, which were probably always partly in Aryan possession.

In the fights that lay ahead, the high priest now acted as usual as faithful helper, like the Fenriswolf (the head of the non-Aryan and mixed population residing in the volcanic mountains) as well as the Midgard serpent (the leader of the entire fleet power). Since the power of the three allies was not yet sufficient to defeat the Aryan army, Loki was called or fetched, who as a result of his position as high priest or administrator of the Idafield, besides the fleet leader, had a great influence in the settlements from these help troops. Since the fleet, at least for the most part, stood on Loki’s side, the Aryans could not prevent this.

The help troops, which according to the Edda are to be judged as contributing to the downfall of the Aryans, came from the east, i.e. from the settlement areas of western and southern Europe and North Africa, as well as from the south, i.e. the northern part of the west coast of Africa, i.e. from Morocco, and from the areas of Senegal and Gambia and from Upper Guinea. This tradition again agrees completely with that of the Peruvian primal history. It says therein: “But also from the sea coast wild hordes pressed against Kuzko, while the barbarians approaching over the Andes, under whose command the daily more closely approaching main army of the enemy, the resistance of the army leader of the king broke and, superior, officials and warriors of the latter drove to the residence city.”

The tradition then reports further: “The ruler, to whom every day new messengers of misfortune brought, sent numerous army leaders against the enemies approaching from the coast, and himself went to meet the main army approaching over the Andes. On the steep mountains of Pucara he fortified himself in a doubly fortified camp, whose first wall surrounded a foot of an inaccessible rock, while the second, above on the top of the mountain built, formed an inner fortress. Here Titu Yupanki had provisions in rich quantity accumulated and his royal tent pitched. So prepared he awaited the approaching enemy. As he noticed his approach, he decided to attack him in open field battle, placed himself at the head of his army the fortifications and placed himself the barbarians opposite. Bloody, hot fights broke out. The king, on golden throne throne, fought in the foremost row his brave warriors to the fight on:” [page 56-57] an arrow struck him mortally, dying he sank on the chair, and his blood stained the bearers. Lamentation howled over the battlefield, and over the whole army spread the news of horror with lightning speed. No one held stand any longer. Also the brave warriors threw the weapons away and sought through shameful flight to save themselves, the body of the beloved ruler with them fleeing, after the camp. Many were caught and overpowered; yet the true, chosen from the noblest of the empire bearers succeeded in saving the body to the rock cave of Tampotoko. From here envoys were sent to the opponents with the request to be allowed to bury their on the battlefield fallen brothers, received however a negative answer… Titu Yupanki’s death became occasion to the fall of the oldest Peruvian kingdom, to the fall of the empire and the loss of the script language.”

In the fights it seems that on the side of the priesthood also an explosive or another flammable or corrosive mixture was used, which was thrown or shot at the Aryans.

In the Edda this decisive battle is mentioned, in which the remnant of the Aryan rule was destroyed, the fight on the Wigrid field or the Wigrid plain. This battle took place according to the Peruvian tradition approximately 3500 years after the Sinthbrand. The unfortunate outcome of this battle also determined the further fate of the Aryans, they lost not only every influence on the government of the island, but also their independence was lost and they were burdened as defeated with heavy forced labor. This subjugation then escaped the remnant of the Aryan people through emigration.

The Aryan tribe, which was in the true sense of the word native to the soil of the island, with all fibers of its heart clung to it, had to before the descendants of those strangers, whom it once in its magnanimity had received with itself and to whom it had left the uninhabited part of the island, flee.

The traditions then also variously report of princes, who with their retinue through flight over the sea escaped; hereby it remains however questionable, to what extent such traditions refer to earlier unfortunately verlaufene fights around the Idafield itself, whereby then also many of the defeated princes were forced to seek flight over the sea. On the other hand, the emigration of the remnant of the Aryan people presumably refers to the biblical account of the exodus from Egypt. It seems here apparently about a tradition that was brought by Nordic Aryans to Canaan and which then, as many others also, was taken over into their own tribal history by the Israelites. The Israelites then brought this deed, as well as various other Atlantean events later in connection with Moses or transferred to him. It is not excluded that a part of the Israelites actually stayed for a time in Egypt and that many memories from this time or that many other traditions of their own migration history were interwoven into the Nordic emigration saga. The word exodus is here likewise literally to take as the designation of the crossing of a body of water; in both cases it was about a crossing that could only be accomplished by means of boats or ships over a broader body of water or a sea.

After subjugation of the Aryans the power passed to Loki (the high priest), the Midgard serpent (the sea prince) and the Fenriswolf (the mountain prince). The high priest stepped into the place of the Atlantean kings and took thus as priest-king the course; the leader of the fleet or sea prince stood subordinate except for the entire sea power, to a certain degree also the settlements, while the prince of the volcanic area only the mountain on Atlantis lost. Although the old Aryan rule was finally destroyed, the thousand-year-old old contrasts between the mountain population and those who later inhabited the fertile plain and the Idafield remained or became new [pages 58-59] been built up. Above all the mountain prince or hell prince, as he was also called, seems to have looked with envy on the Idafield and to have envied the priest-king the treasures that came to him from all the world as tribute, if he did not even dare, with open violence against the power of the Idafield to proceed. On the other hand, between the priest-king and the sea prince a mostly friendly relationship seems to have prevailed, because the latter came, since the entire sea traffic and thus also the connection with the settlements was subordinate to him, through the gifts that came to him from everywhere, to his costs.

After the battle on the Wigrid field the Aryan princes (gods) were eliminated and the power on Atlantis passed to the high priest, he and his successors as priest-kings (priest-gods) ruled for about 1000 years (the thousand-year kingdom) the history of the island and the world. His downfall the priest empire, like all Atlantis, found through the sinking of the island into the sea (Sintflut), after already previously the power of the priest-king through uprisings, at whose head the mountain prince (Fenriswolf) stood, was broken or destroyed.

Ninth Section

Apart from the Aryans, who settled in northern Europe and had completely detached themselves from the Atlantean rule, were, as emerges from the Egyptian tradition, also from the other settlements not all completely subjected to the Atlantean priest rule; those who already before the rise of the priest rule, although more or less under the influence of the priest-king, stood partly still quite independent. The striving of the Atlantean priest-kings now went beyond this, to subjugate these settlements one after the other completely. For this purpose the Atlantean war power was set in motion against the Mediterranean basin, in order to subjugate the areas located in the eastern part of the same, which were partly in a certain respect still independent. The local peoples under the leadership of the Atlanteans offered resistance, but fell more and more, so that the Atlanteans, relying on themselves, could only repel the attackers with the “outermost danger”.

In the Platonic report it then says further: “The power of your state finally overcame the approaching enemy and achieved victory signs; so it prevented the enslavement that had not yet taken place and became a noble liberator for us within the gates of Heracles. Later violent earthquakes and floods occurred, and in the course of one terrible day and one terrible night your entire warlike race sank under the earth in a body, and likewise the island of Atlantis disappeared into the sea.” Through a repulse of the approaching enemy the Atlanteans could perhaps liberate their land, but not the areas of all the Mediterranean peoples. [page 60-61]

This entire passage is therefore to be understood that after the unsuccessful attempt of the Atlantean priest-king to subjugate Greece, parties arose on Atlantis itself that entered into connection with the Atlanteans and other peoples and brought about a landing on Atlantis. In such a case the Atlanteans alone were not able to do this, it could only happen if they had allies in the local population on the island.

Now there was no longer any Aryan population on Atlantis shortly before the Sintflut, but this was either emigrated or the remnant of it to the greatest part of the feast and the unrest that raged on the island in the last thousand years had fallen victim. The population that at the time of the downfall, according to the American tradition, amounted to 64 million inhabitants, was therefore constantly replenished from the settlement areas and from all corners of the earth and consisted thus of all possible non-Aryan original races and mixed races. Every empire that possesses such a mixed population is, as far as it does not strictly follow Aryan laws and customs, doomed to downfall, since both in the non-Aryan as well as in the mixed an excessive need for a carefree life and enjoyment, combined with a boundless lust for power, is present.

In the late Atlantean time the priest-king embodied in himself the highest worldly and spiritual power that existed on the island and over its dependent settlements. As long as this power met with no resistance, the successful resistance ceased, its nimbus, which it possessed in so unequaled great measure, remained intact. When now the war power sent against Greece had to return home without success, awakened in the Atlantean parties, which did not come to rest, but simultaneously secretly commanded and fought, the probably almost unanimous desire, to eliminate the priest power and to seize its treasures for themselves. For this purpose they allied themselves with the Atlanteans and other peoples of the European mainland in connection and arranged their landing on the island. There on the island the Atlanteans in alliance with the other allies from the Mediterranean, who had joined the victors, raised the victory signs and liberated under the help of the uprising through the destruction of the priest power the settlements groaning under the pressure from Atlantis. The victors were forced by the subsequent party fights to remain longer on the island and were then, before they could return home, seized by the breaking in Sintflut into the depths.

The same tradition that at the downfall of the island great fights took place, has also been preserved in the Edda. As so often, in the traditions events that lie far apart are mixed up, or but they follow so immediately upon one another that they appear as a handling, especially when the personalities involved therein from the bards, the leading clans to honors, with the same names are named or bear the same title. The in Nordic mythology under the designation Ragnarök (god twilight) known catastrophe of the downfall of the ruling gods and the world treats the downfall of the remnant of the Aryan rule on Atlantis, which according to the Peruvian tradition took place around 3500 after the Sinthbrand. Herewith then the fights that went on Atlantis shortly before the Sintflut are mixed up in one.

The Bible according to this is to be judged, was the soul of the uprising against the priest-king the hell prince, the Fenriswolf. In the Revelation of John (20) it says: “And when a thousand years are completed, Satan will be loosed from his prison, and will go out to deceive the heathen in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them to battle, whose number is as the sand on the sea. And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire fell from God out of heaven and devoured them.”

According to the Peruvian tradition around approximately 3500 after the Sinthbrand the great fight against the Aryans took place [page 62-63]

According to the Peruvian tradition around approximately 3500 after the Sinthbrand the great fight against the Aryans took place [page 64-65]

“In the year Kan, on the 11th Muluk in the month Zac, strong earthquakes occurred, which without interruption lasted until the 13th Chuen. The region of the clay hill, the land of Mu, was the victim: it was twice raised and suddenly disappeared overnight; the sea was continuously agitated by volcanic forces. Consequently the land within a certain border was several times raised and lowered at various places. Finally the surface gave way, and ten countries were torn apart and scattered. Unable to withstand the violent movements, they sank with their 64,000,000 inhabitants.”

The sudden disappearance of an island, the depth map of the Atlantic Ocean shows, in the size of the Iberian Peninsula or even larger, was nevertheless a quite extraordinary event. In German scholarly circles the assumption has been expressed that the mainland of Europe and America through rise and sink of the sea floor changed their position to each other. In the meantime this question has already begun to be examined; but centuries will pass before an answer can be given as to whether the theory of the mutual pressure of the two continents is confirmed or not, provided that in such a relatively short time a main change can be established at all.

If the assumption that between Europe and America a mutual pressure took place should prove true, it would thereby solve the riddle of the sudden disappearance of such a large island. With a mutual pressure of the continents the ground in the middle of both mainlands, i.e. in the Atlantic Ocean, would have to be pressed together. This would in the course of countless millennia at various places have been the case. This now happened at a place where an island lay, so this had to disappear under the sea surface. With Atlantis the circumstance came into consideration that the inner core of the island consisted of a liquid, glowing mass. When now at the mutual pressure of the continents the time came that the sea floor the tearing or stretching no longer withstood, followed the tearing of the ground and the sinking of the island lying above it. With this process the sea floor gave way after and thereby the upper solid part of the island lost its support. This sinking part of the island now pressed on the liquid lava mass, which was pressed upward through the crater openings. At the same time sea water also flowed through emerging cracks from below and sideways into the volcanic hearth and thereby exerted a further pressure on the liquid mass, which now had to make room upward. The sinking of the island is therefore not to be attributed to ordinary volcanic eruptions or floods, but the cause lay precisely in the sinking of the sea floor, during which process then also enormous fire and lava masses were ejected and the island sank into the sea.

Even today the fire hearth located under the Azores has not yet come to rest. So the islands since their occupation by the Portuguese have been visited 21 times by earthquakes and eruptions. A sinking of earth surface in the area of the Atlantic Ocean has still occurred approximately one and a half centuries ago. This event is described by Donnelly in his book Atlantis as follows: “On November 1, 1775 one heard in Lisbon an underground rumble, and immediately thereafter a terrible earthquake occurred, which laid the greatest part of the city in ruins. Within a few minutes 60,000 people lost their lives! A newly built quay, which was entirely constructed of marble, sank with all that was on it, under, and not a single corpse came up again to the surface. A large number of small boats and ships, which were anchored in the vicinity and likewise with fleeing people were overloaded, were immediately drawn into the water as in a whirlpool and disappeared; also of these ships not a single wreck has ever come to the surface again, and where once the marble quay stood, the water is now 600 feet (182 meters) deep.”

The occasion will have been the same. Also here a tearing of the sea floor must have taken place. [page 66-67]

Ninth Section (conclusion)

What happened here on a small scale had evidently already happened earlier on a large scale.

That a volcanic eruption alone can have a sinking of land as a consequence is proved by the eruption of the volcano Krakatau in the Sunda Strait between Sumatra and Java in the year 1883, in which almost three-quarters of the island sank into the sea. If therefore already a volcanic eruption alone had such an effect, it is no wonder that at the sinking of Atlantis a sinking of land on a much larger scale took place, because here the main cause apparently lay in the sinking or tearing of the sea floor; the simultaneously occurring volcanic eruptions and earthquakes were therefore only accompanying phenomena.

From the various traditions it is possible not only to form a good picture of the events and conditions on the island of Atlantis, but it also reveals in which season of the year and even on which days the most important events took place. These commemoration days are the following:

  • 3 February: Death day of the foster father.
  • 22 March: In the evening the comet hail began.
  • 24 March: In the evening or during the night the sister of the foster father died.
  • 25 March (or in the preceding night): Birthday of the primeval father (foster son), who became the progenitor of the new Aryan race. Even into our era the 25th of March was celebrated in many regions as the beginning of the year.
  • 1 May: Death day of the primeval father (foster son).
  • 11 May: Wedding day of the primeval parental couple.
  • 19 May: Thor’s birthday.
  • 24 June: Commemoration day of the reconquest of the Idafield and the Idaburg by Thor.
  • 15 August: Death day of the primeval mother (foster daughter).
  • Mid-August: Crowning of Thor as king of Atlantis (= election day, election consecration, election mass).
  • 8 September: Birthday of the primeval mother (foster daughter).
  • 6 December: Birthday of the foster father.
  • Mid-December: Thor’s death day.
  • 25 December: Freyr’s birthday.

As can be seen from this list, the old so-called pagan festivals as well as the Midsummer festival have absolutely nothing to do with the course of the sun. They were ancestor festivals and commemoration days from the Aryan primeval homeland Atlantis. [page 68-69]

Even the Midsummer festival, also called summer solstice festival, has nothing to do with the course of the sun, but is the commemoration day of the reconquest of the Idafield and the “Heaven’s” or Idaburg.

As the primal history of Peru reports, the Atlantean king Sintfshi Rozke and with him the other inhabitants before the approaching non-Aryan and mixed mountain inhabitants from the Idafield withdrew, which was then later reconquered by Inti Kapak Yupanki = Thor. To this reconquest, in which Thor’s faithful weapon bearers or sub-commanders, who first entered, had the honor of the day, this feast of the castle burning refers, and indeed the taking of the Idafield or rather of the Himmelberg first became possible thereby that one used fire for help. With this castle burning it is apparently about the temple or palace located on the Himmelberg, to which the mountain inhabitants, after the rest of the Idafield was already in Thor’s hands, had withdrawn. There they defended themselves so stubbornly that the attacking Aryans had nothing else left than to procure wood and straw, in order to set the building located on the mountain on fire, whereby then the defenders perished in the flames.

The summer solstice fire therefore symbolizes the reconquest of the Idaburg, to whose help one had to use fire. The Easter fire, on the other hand, is supposed to commemorate the comet hail that was sent as punishment.

Equally the Christmas festival has nothing to do with the winter solstice, but it is originally the birthday festival of Freyr. Later also Thor’s death day, which falls around mid-December, was added to the Christmas festival, so that this is actually a festival in memory of a birthday and a death day.*)

*) More about these festivals is also contained in the main work.

Eleventh Section

After already an emigration before the Sinthbrand had begun, this later, when the tribe had recovered from the murderous event of the comet hail and had again grown into a numerous people, was taken up anew.

Reports about earlier emigrations from the island of Atlantis to lands lying beyond the sea were without doubt made both by the foster father and by the foster daughter (primeval mother), who both still lived through the pre-Sinthbrand time and had to give information about the prehistory, to the foster son (primeval father) and his sons. This tradition lived on in the new tribe and on occasion was again pursued, with connection to the lands lying beyond the sea to enter. Also an emigration was then, as the necessity for it arose, again set in, which apparently after the old as well as after the new world extended. Thereby the warm zone located highlands and the warmer parts of the temperate zone were preferred.

In all these areas the emigrated Aryans did not remain pure, but mixed in the course of time with the original races present in these areas, who had partly joined the immigrated Aryans. From the immigrants and the native retinue numerous state formations developed on the highlands of Central and South America, in the area of the Mediterranean, in the fertile plain of Mesopotamia and beyond, which later became priest states according to the model of Atlantis.

At the time of the priest-kings messengers were then also sent to all parts of the world, as far as Australia and the South Sea, and the local natives were [page 70-71] in the service of the Atlantean priest-king or priest-god. Also apparently during this period, when the island was for a longer time without unrest and plagues, emigrations from the mixed and non-Aryan population of the island took place, e.g. to North America and into the area of the Black Sea. Everywhere where totem customs point, these are to be traced back to late Atlantean influences or immigrations. On the other hand, areas with pronounced ancestor worship, be it from Atlantis directly or later from the north, were settled and visited.

After northern Europe an emigration of Aryans from Atlantis had already taken place in a relatively early time after the Sinthbrand, and not only to Germania and Scandinavia, but, as emerges from the location of the countries themselves, also to Britain and Gaul. British sagas also report of three tribes belonging to the same race (presumably Aryans immigrated in three different times or from three different regions), which fled peacefully, because they obtained neither the land nor the goods through battles or strife, but through justice and peace. These Aryans must, as far as they were not driven out in later fights, in the course of time in the local original population or in the there immigrated late Atlantean population have gone up, since at Caesar’s time there were no longer pure Aryans. Also the tradition of the Druids in Gaul reports that a part of the people is to be regarded as native, others however had come from the outermost islands in the ocean, with which only Atlantis can be meant.

But not only the traditions of the Druids point to an overseas immigration into Europe, but also the traditions of the Germanic tribes themselves report that their ancestors immigrated by sea.

So it says in the report of Tacitus about the Germans: “For not by land, but on many ships came in the service of the Atlantean priest-king or priest-god”.

So it says in the report of Tacitus about the Germans: “For not by land, but on many ships came [page 72-73] from an island that lay in the same direction as Britain or rather behind Britain”. This also fits; in order to get from Atlantis to Germania, Britain had to be passed, be it through the canal or around Scotland.

About the origin of the Swabians the tradition reports: “In the north lies, as one recounts, by the sea a land strip, which is called Swabia.” Thereupon it is recounted how there a famine entered, whereupon one decided to lead a part of the offspring “over the sea”. Then it says further: “After everything had happened that was necessary for the crossing, they boarded (the sons and daughters) the same; then a violent storm wind seized them and they were driven after a harbor of the Danes to a place that is called Sleswic; after they had here through the violence of the storm been driven from land, all vehicles were destroyed in small pieces, so that none of them could return home. And after they had crossed this Danish land with armored hand, they reached the river Elbe; they crossed it and spread out in the shore land.”

So also with the Swabians the tradition was at hand that they had come from a land that was called Swabia, on ships to Germania. At the same time the reason for the emigration is given here: famine. The soil of the home island could no longer feed the increasing population. A part of the population lived in any case in celibacy, because the monk- and nunnery of the Christian time is only a continuation of Atlantean institutions. Despite the celibacy of the part of the population that dedicated itself to the service of the general public, the population increase was still such that emigration had to be decided upon. The world offered indeed also enough space. Apart from areas that were either completely or so good as empty, like those in northern Europe, also the other regions in which an original population lived, still offered undeniably much space. For with all original races, besides the Aryans, who still until the post-Sinthbrand time were vegetarians, cannibalism was usual. If this was not already alone, yet the lack of a proper culture had to bring with it that no strong population could arise. Only the contact with the Aryans and the state institutions, agriculture and other cultural goods that the Aryans brought to the other original peoples enabled them to develop into strong tribes.

A further tradition of an immigration by sea is reported by Jordanes in his Gothic history; he writes about it: “Far out at the end of the west still lies an island named Thule, of which the inhabitants among others say: This Thule at the end of the world! It has also this immense sea in its arctic, that is in its northern part, an immense island named Scandza, from which our narrative with God’s help is to begin. For the people, after whose origin one asks, came, like a swarm of bees from the lap of this island breaking forth, to Europe. From this island Scandza therefore are to have come once as from a workshop of the peoples or a mother of the nations the Goths with their king Berig. As soon as they had left their ships and stepped onto land, they immediately gave the same their name. For still today, as one recounts, there is a land Gothiscandza.” Further it is reported: “One must remember that I have already at the beginning recounted that the Goths went out with their king Berig from the lap of the island Scandza and came on only three ships to this side of the ocean shore, which is called Gothiscandza.”

These passages of Jordanes are now cited by historians as proof for the descent of the Aryans from Sweden. This Gothic saga refers however to the emigration from Atlantis. With Scandza the Gothic island, i.e. Sweden, is meant. In later time the Goths residing in southeastern Europe mixed this old origin from the Atlantean origin with the emigration of a part of the Goths from Gothiscandza, i.e. Sweden or briefly Scandza, to the mainland south of the Baltic Sea.

Besides this saga of the migration of the Goths from the island Scandza over the ocean to Gothiscandza Jordanes mentions another tradition; he writes: [page 73-74]

“Nowhere, however, do we find such tales indicated that in Britain or on some other island an island was sought and someone bought a single horse for the price of one. But if someone claims that they came otherwise than we have reported, in the history they have come to the foreground, so this stands in contrast to our view; we nevertheless prefer to hold to what we have read, as an old wives’ tale.”

Here the Goth Jordanes reports that the Goths still had another tradition, according to which they had come from Britain or some other island. This tradition does not now stand, as Jordanes believes, in contradiction to his first account, but rather complements it completely and supplements it. The island to which reference is made lay behind Britain; for all migrants who came from Atlantis to the north had to pass Britain, hence also the confusion with this island. That the Aryans finally emigrated from Atlantis in order to escape subjugation also fits.

As far as the report is concerned that the Goths bought a single horse for the price of one, there is a misunderstanding here; for this tradition, taken literally, would indeed be a fairy tale. It cannot have arisen out of thin air; there is only here an allusion, because the reference to a horse is also found in the Trojan saga. This saga does not refer to the Asia Minor Troy, but treats the struggle for the Atlantean Troy, i.e. the Idafield on Atlantis, and ends with the capture of the same, in which Priam and his entire house perished. A part of the inhabitants is said to have saved Aeneas, who rescued the images of the gods of his house as well as his closest relatives from the burning city, and fled with them over the sea. At the capture of Troy a wooden horse now played a fateful role. The way this event is presented, it cannot be taken literally, because in such a clumsy trap the defenders of the Idafield would not have fallen. Here it is rather about a person who was either a non-Aryan who bore the name “Horse,” or an Aryan or mixed-race person whose hieroglyph or coat of arms was a horse. This man, whether called Horse or whose sign was a horse, is judged by the saga to have played a decisive role either in the capture of the Idafield or in the emigration of the remnant of the Aryans.

This Trojan saga is also found in the tradition of the Franks, who derived their lineage from the Trojans; but this again refers to the Atlantean Troy. In the Greek Trojan saga the Franks recognized their own old tribal saga from Atlantis. Also among the Vandals and Heruli there is a connection of their sea migration with Greek sagas.

The oldest fabulous king of these two tribes is said to have been Anthyr. After the death of Alexander the Great, a small fleet is said to have sailed to Asia on a ship called Bucephalus (Ox-head), with an ox-head in the flag, but on the bow an eagle; they are said to have landed in the north and Baltic Sea and founded several cities there in Mecklenburg, married a Gothic princess, Symbulla, and had a son with her, Anana, who became his successor, whereupon he himself disappeared from the mythical history of the land.

All traditions of the Germanic tribes thus point to a sea migration, mostly from a region that lay in the direction of Britain or rather behind this land. This original land of the Aryans was the island of Atlantis. The mythologies of the various peoples also revolve around the events that took place on this island.

It is not excluded that northern Europe at the time when Atlantis still existed had a somewhat milder climate because the Gulf Stream at that time had to flow stronger towards the north past the island of Atlantis and thereby brought more warmth to northern Europe, while today it already begins to turn south at the Azores. [page 76-77]

A main reason for settlement in northern Europe was the massive occurrence of flint. Although bronze production existed in Atlantis in the second half of the post-Sinthbrand period, it was mainly known in the volcanic area and on the Idafield. The actual Aryans who lived in the new districts made little use of it and, as far as they did not obtain bronze tools and weapons through exchange, continued to use wood, reeds, stone, etc. for their tools and utensils, as before.

In an area rich in a suitable type of stone, such as in northern Europe — for example in northern France, on the south coast of England, on the Danish islands, and in the North German lowlands — where flint was available in rich quantity and excellent quality for tool-making, such areas were highly valued as settlement areas despite many deficiencies. This was especially true since the first Aryans who settled in the north did not yet know bronze production, and metal processing in Atlantis was still limited to gold and silver for jewelry and similar items.

The later immigrants, on the other hand, probably brought some tools and weapons made of bronze with them. But even then, importing bronze objects from the old homeland Atlantis was very costly and cumbersome, so that, at least for general use, they continued to rely on the accustomed production and use of stone tools. Iron processing was not invented in Atlantis until the time of the priestly rule, after Germania had long been settled by Aryans.

Another circumstance that contributed to the stronger settlement of Germania was the existence of the great navigable rivers that extended far inland from the coast in all directions. However, for the first Aryans who immigrated from Atlantis to Germania, the interior of the country was not yet taken into consideration, because these first settlers settled in the mouth area of the Rhine and on the Frisian coast.

From the subsequent emigrants, the lower and middle river areas of the Rhine, the Weser, and the Elbe, some of the Danish islands, and some areas of southern Norway are said to have been settled. Later emigrants settled, apart from Scandinavia, on the lower and middle courses of the Oder and the Vistula as well as on many places on the Baltic coast. The last arriving emigrants then settled the still unoccupied parts of the southeastern Baltic Sea area as well as Sweden and the Baltic countries.

In some places, larger state formations also emerged, such as the Odin-Reich on the Danish islands, which also extended to the adjacent coastal strip of southern Sweden; further the Baltic Scythian Kingdom, which later extended from the Vistula to the Finnish Gulf.

While in other parts of the world the immigrated Aryans mixed with the local original races in the course of time and formed new peoples, the Aryan population in Germania and Scandinavia remained pure for a long time, because these areas were partly completely uninhabited or otherwise so good as uninhabited. [page 78-79]

The population growth of Germania first settled the old adjacent border areas, then the upper courses and tributaries of the Rhine, the Elbe, the Oder, the Vistula, the Niemen, the Düna, etc. After the settlement of the population growth, it had to move to more distant areas and closed off the adjacent land strips to Germania. In the course of the millennia, the growth from the old and new areas then spread westward, southward, and eastward as far as Africa and Asia and even beyond the latter.

The population surplus of Scandinavia was probably also partly joined by Aryan emigrants from Germania; to other parts, however, new settlement areas were sought on the sea route in the coastal regions of Western Europe and the Mediterranean.

In the area of the Mediterranean, in Asia Minor, etc., the emigration waves from the north now met old large Atlantean colonial areas, e.g. in Egypt and Mesopotamia, in which, corresponding to the late Atlantean priestly period, state power was in the hands of priestly castes. Here in these old cultural areas, whose population lived in rigid forms, the Aryan immigrants from the north brought new blood and new life, and the old priestly rule was first shaken by the popular movements of the new arrivals.

But even here the immigrants did not remain pure, but mixed in the course of time with the old population. To the same extent as the mixing progressed, the influence of the immigrated peoples, through which the power prerogatives of the overlords were restricted, also decreased; finally their influence disappeared completely and absolute rule emerged.

The connections of the emigrants with the North can still be well traced today on the basis of tribal, place, mountain, river, and place names.

For example, quite apart from the Roman god names, the names of the patrician and plebeian families of the Roman Republic are also of Nordic origin. Not only are their names still traceable today in place, river, and place names especially in western and central Germany, but also the paths that the emigrants took, which partly correspond to the ancient geographical names of the areas lying between Germany and Italy (Austria, Switzerland, and southeastern France), in which they first settled and a part of them remained, can still be traced.

Correspondingly, the immigration that settled in Greece, which settled there between the old population, also came from the north, however, as emerges from the location in comparison to Italy, from the more eastern regions, and indeed from the Baltic areas. This is clearly evident from the Greek god, hero, and tribal names, which are still traceable especially in the areas of East Prussia and Memelland as well as in the local river and place names.*) So, for example, the Greek tribal name Hellene still exists in the East Prussian river name Alle, which was formerly Alna or Alne; even earlier its name was Mana or Mane; it only became Alna and Alne in the course of time, until the name today still has a further abbreviation in Alle. The leading family of the Hellenes were the Zeus (also Zas and Zes), whose name is still preserved in the East Prussian river Schieß.

Page 82

When Greece became so densely populated in later times that no space remained for Nordic immigrants, we find north of the Black Sea a large Scythian empire that had developed and was also of Baltic origin. The Scythians must have been in that region since very early times, as they are already mentioned in the reports of the oldest Greek writers; also by Homer in the Iliad under the name Hippomolgi (mare-milkers). At the head of the Scythians stood the tribe of the royal Scythians, whose actual name was Tschotsch or Tschötsch, a name that is completely identical with Zeus; the 3 and s here have only become a Tsch, as with the river name Schieß in Memelland, the tribal seat of Zeus or Tschotsch, became a Sch and β. Just as the tribe of the Hellenes gave the Greeks the tribe of the Manen, whose tribal seat also lay on the same Alle in East Prussia, so with the Scythians the tribe of the Manen is to be found, whose tribal seats lay on the same Alle in East Prussia. Even the name Scythians (Skuz, Skythes) is nothing more than a distorted form of the name Tschotsch. Since a name like this is difficult or even impossible to pronounce for many peoples, in Asia Minor and Greece the first Tsch was changed to an Sk and the second tsch to a z or thes. Even today this area on the Dnieper, where the main seat of the Tschotsch was in southern Russia, bears the name Setch. Here again a transformation of the first Tsch into an S has taken place. For some centuries this area was called Setch; one can see from this, as well as from the vowels, a change.

Around 128 B.C. the Scythians were called by the Parthian king Phraates against Antiochus of Syria for help. From a part of these Scythians under the leadership of the Tschotsch or Tschötsch, the Parthian empire of the southern part of Drangiana was taken into possession for a long time; this is also indicated by its present name Seidshistan or abbreviated Seistan.

Page 83

From these Scythians, a part soon moved to the Indus and founded a new empire there, which, however, when the Parthians also established themselves there in the 1st century A.D., probably mixed with them. Just as the name Seidshistan in Persia designates the area in which the Tschotsch settled, so in the Indus region the tribal name has also been preserved in a landscape name. There in the Punjab the part of the land that lies between the rivers Tschlam and Chenab bears the name Tsch Doab (pronounced: Dschetsch Doab). Doab means in northern India the land lying between two uniting streams; in the middle remains as a landscape name Dschetsch. The Dschetsch Doab was therefore the part of the Indus region in which the Tschotsch settled.

The rest of the Tschotsch, who remained in southern Russia, were then, after the invasion of the Huns, seized by them and, like the mass of the formerly in southern Russia resident tribes, mixed and scattered among themselves. A part of them moved with the Goths to the area between the Saale, Elbe, and the Ore Mountains, the Sorbian March, as can be seen from the local place names Jaatsch, Tschtsch, Teutsch, Tschaik, Tschauk, Tschetsch and the desert March Jäsch, also Tschecher March, which, however, centuries earlier in the documents still appeared as Tschetsch and Tschetsch.

One can see from this example how names of families and tribes can be traced through the millennia on the basis of river, landscape, and place names.

Just as parts of the Tschotsch moved to India, so it was also with the other population of the Baltic countries, the Vistula land, and the rest of Germania. From all these areas, in the course of the many millennia of growth from all possible tribes, the path to India was taken. And just as parts of these tribes still exist today in the families of Germany and neighboring countries…

English Translation of Pages 84–85

Page 84

Just as parts of these tribes still exist today in the families of Germany and neighboring countries such as Poland, Lithuania, England, etc., so members of these same tribes still live today in the tribes and clans of India; this can be clearly proven from the family names here in the north and the tribal and clan names in India. While the members of the tribes here in the north still have a greater or lesser Aryan blood component, in India they have absorbed a completely non-Aryan blood component.

When in India more and more new hordes of immigrants from northern Europe arrived, space became too narrow and from there a new emigration to land and sea further to the east as well as an overseas emigration to the west took place, and the latter went to East Africa. Such can be clearly proven from the tribal, landscape, mountain, river, and place names of East Africa, as well as from the former German part; these names are found not only in India but also in northern Europe (i.e. in former Germania) today. Some of the names in East Africa are directly of Atlantean origin, because the land was not only settled during the Atlantean royal period but also later during the priestly rule it was in constant connection with Atlantis via Egypt.

Under the Atlantean priestly rule, the gold mines of Ophir in southern East Africa were namely already exploited and the gold destined for the Atlantean priest-king (tribute) had to be brought to the East African coastal place Amu, which was erroneously called Lamu by the Europeans, but is still called Amu by the natives today as before. From there it was fetched by ships of the Egyptian priesthood and initially brought to Egypt, in order to be delivered further to Atlantis. Later the Egyptian kings entered into these rights and now had the gold fetched from Amu on their own account.

From the north, the growth of the Aryan people, which extended from beyond the Rhine mouth to the Finnish Gulf, moved unhindered eastward and southeastward for thousands of years until shortly before our era. India and China as well as other parts of East Asia absorbed countless masses. While the Aryan immigrants from the north in India absorbed non-Aryan blood, but otherwise retained their language more or less, they mixed in China to a much greater extent and even gave up their old language there. It seems as if China as well as all of East Asia was much more strongly affected by unrest than India, so that East Asia became a mass grave for the Aryans in every respect.

With time, however, the population in East Asia grew so strongly that it could no longer absorb any immigration, but instead a counter-movement set in from there. The Chinese population pressed over their old borders to the west and pushed the peoples living there, who now also pressed westward again. Thus a general westward movement arose, whereby an emigration to the east, even before the Hun invasion, became impossible.

On the other hand, in southern Europe the great Roman Empire arose, which also took Gaul into its possession and thereby made an emigration of the population surplus from the Germanic districts to the south and west impossible. The population growth between the Rhine and the Finnish Gulf, which had previously had free outflow, now found no more possibility to emigrate to distant lands. To some extent the emigrants stopped in southern Russia, where they helped form the great Gothic empire, but partly they moved, after the…

The soil of the old homeland no longer offered sufficient space for all. In large masses they moved to and fro at the Roman borders, because a peaceful settlement was no longer possible for them, to acquire the necessary land for their livelihood with the sword in hand. These masses, who had joined together into tribal confederations under the names East and West Goths, Vandals, Suebi, Manen, Burgundians, Franks, Langobards, etc., consisted, however — apart from the Huns who joined them on the way or who attached themselves to them — only of the population growth of the north; an emigration of the old population of Germania, including the Vistula land and the Baltic regions, did not take place; therefore the name Völkerwanderung is misleading.

The emigrated population growth was, however, not completely detached from the old homeland, but stood in constant connection with it and also asserted certain rights to the soil of the old motherland. So reports the Byzantine historian Prokop of Caesarea of an embassy that Vandalic tribal brothers from the old homeland had sent to the under-king Geiserich in Africa, with the request to renounce their right to the home soil; this request was rejected because the emigrants in case of misfortune did not want to lose the old homeland. From the Vandals a part moved around the middle of the second century A.D. from their homeland in Silesia to Dacia. There they later suffered a severe defeat by the Goths in the year 334 at the Maros, so that the remnant around the dwellings near Constantinople had to ask for such land in Roman Pannonia. At the beginning of the fifth century a part of these Vandals moved again from here with the Suebi and Manen in 406 across the Rhine to Gaul and from there further to Spain, where in 422 they conquered Andalusia, which has since borne their name. In the year 429 the Vandals were called by the Roman governor to North Africa, which later came into their own possession…

…called to help. Those who were to renounce their right to the home soil were either the Vandals who had emigrated from Pannonia or it can be seen from this that new waves of emigrants from the old Silesian homeland, who were called across the Rhine as help, as was the case with the Vandals in 406, continued to move later. From the report of Prokop and from the entire situation it emerges that the old tribe in the motherland and the emigrants both in Dacia and Pannonia, as well as later in Spain and North Africa, always stood in connection with each other and further that the emigrants for a long time retained the right to the home soil and thus the possibility of return remained. This right may have become a burden to some who had to emigrate or who had had misfortune, in the same way as with the other Germanic tribes; also because the emigrants remained in contact with their homeland for a long time and received new influx from the old tribe, and in case of misfortune and defeats the old homeland was also sought again by a part of the emigrants. Given the scarcity of reports from that time, it is not surprising that the history of the returns is almost completely silent; one case is mentioned in which 20,000 Saxons who had moved to Italy with the Langobards later returned to their old seat in the Harz.

When the Huns from Asia pressed into Europe across the Volga, the Nordic tribes of the Caucasus and in southern Russia, partly Aryan, partly non-Aryan, moved westward with them. From these a part of the Huns took their way as far as the…

The Baltic Sea coast was depopulated by such predatory raids. Such tribal groups, which at that time settled between the Germans, were the Sorbs, Kassubes, Tschechen, and Mährers. Other tribal groups from southern Russia, such as the Heruli, Rugii, Ostrogoths, moved after Attila’s death against the Roman Empire and thus put an end to the western Roman Empire.

Although the Hunnic empire collapsed after Attila’s death and the Huns were pushed back to southern Russia, the pressure from the east did not cease. Instead of the Huns, other tribal groups began to make themselves noticeable, who in turn pressed on their neighbors, who were forced to give way.

So Polish traditions report that the Lechites left their homeland before the advance of the Avars around 550 to seek another place. After long wanderings they found such a place between the Oder and Vistula. These drove out the Lechites willingly and voluntarily from the unused lands, whereupon the Lechites took over the duty of defense of the now jointly inhabited land. In the course of the following centuries the Sarmatian Lechites gained an ever greater influence on the administration and a social superiority over the Germanic Polanen who were becoming fewer and fewer. The previous balancing contrasts, however, turned into open dispute when Prince Mieczyslaw I, 962–998, after his marriage to the Bohemian princess Dombrowka, accepted Christianity and ordered its acceptance also for his people. The Lechites followed his example and now had to, on the orders of the prince and supported, exercise the sole military service for the conversion of the still pagan Polanen. The Polanen were not only violently converted, but were now also forced to cultivate the lands of the Lechites. Under Mieczyslaw II, 1025–1034, the Lechites had to fight many battles against external enemies. This opportunity was used by the Polanen to rise up. A bloody civil war arose in which the Lechites were defeated…

…to rise up. A bloody civil war arose in which the Lechites were defeated, they had to give up the largest part of their lands to the Polanen and withdraw from the higher offices. When King Kazimierz came to the throne in 1041, he tried to restore the previous state. Since he met with decided resistance from the Polanen, he tried to force them to do so through the Lechites. In the ensuing fights the Lechites remained victorious. The Polanen had to give up the lands again, were removed from the higher offices and declared unfit for them, such above all to occupy, they lost their previous equality. From the Lechites they were now regarded not only as much inferior, but also as a serving people; yes, they considered the oppressed no longer worthy, to lead them under their own name Polanen or Pole, after which the empire was also named, they called them henceforth Kmiec i (farmer). Under Boleslaw II, 1058–1082, the Polanen tried again to free themselves from oppression, but were defeated by Boleslaw in 1077, and now their fate was forever decided. As punishment they were declared a subordinate people in the state, lost the right to equality, were not admitted to public offices and dignities and were no longer allowed to bear arms. On the other hand, the foreign Sarmatian Lechites, who had risen to the ruling caste, now formed the nobility, the so-called Szlachta.

Sarmatian intolerance and unfaithfulness had finally, in alliance with the Christian priesthood, brought it about that the former Germanic rulers of the land, who once hospitably received the Lechite refugees, land, freedom and even the name, were ruined.

While in eastern Germania a large area had passed into foreign hands and the former Germanic inhabitants of the land were partly destroyed, partly reduced to complete dependence on the non-Aryan Sarmatians, in western Germania parts of the land between Rhine and Elbe were subjugated by the Franks. These now tried…

Also the Saxons living north of there were to be subjugated, which was first achieved after a thirty-three year long war. In this much Germanic blood flowed; further 4500 noble Saxons were executed by the Saxon slayer Karl, and over 10,000 Saxon families were settled outside the country under the Franks, for which, as is to be assumed, non-Germanic settlers from Gaul came into the country in exchange.

After Christianity had been introduced with bloody fights between Rhine and Elbe, it was also carried with the sword into the lands east of the Saale and the Elbe. The fights that took place in the Sorbian March lasted almost half a century, while the fights east of the Elbe in the Havel region, in Mecklenburg and Holstein dragged on for three and a half centuries, until a general crusade in connection with Danish, Mährish and Polish help subjugated the remnant of the Liutizen and Obotrites.

The designation of the East Germans, i.e. the inhabitants east of the Elbe and Saale, as Slavs or Wends is misleading. Although many of the tributaries and many mixed races in the ranks of the East Elbe people took part in the fights, these were certainly not in the majority. Especially the area between Elbe and Vistula was with the main center of the German tribes on the European mainland south of the Baltic Sea. As finally the West Germans succeeded, they owed this to the support from the Roman Church and the alliances as well as the superior means of help that the western culture provided them for subjugation. On the side of the East Elbe people, on the other hand, there was no proper cohesion of the tribes between Elbe and Vistula.

After the West Germans with their superiority, their allies and the rich means of power at their disposal had finally subjugated the remnant of the old inhabitants in the East Elbe border areas and converted them to Christianity…

Page 91

…converted them to Christianity, the more distant tribes of the Oder region and in Pomerania also accepted Christianity. Here now the remarkable fact emerges that while the West Germans only after centuries could advance on foot into the areas east of the Saale and Elbe, and even then, after the old inhabitants had largely been exterminated, the Slavic language in the areas as far as Poland largely disappeared and almost everywhere German was spoken.

From this rapid Germanization it was concluded that Germanic remnants must still have existed among the Slavs. The opposite was the case. Between the Germans and the Slavs, larger or smaller hordes had settled here and there as tributaries, who gradually fell victim to the Germanization. If the area east of the Elbe-Saale line had also been inhabited only in the majority by Slavs, it would probably have been possible to conclude that the inhabitants left and right of the Oder had given up their language within a short time and adopted the German one instead. In view of the fierce resistance that the eastern inhabitants of the Elbe and Saale had opposed to the advance of Christianity and especially to the subjugation by the West German princes and counts for centuries, their more eastern living tribal comrades would not have so easily given up their Slavic mother tongue if they had possessed it. It was precisely in the main area of the Germans, who lived in East Elbe, that the extraordinarily rapid “Germanization” took place.

While in the areas between Elbe and Oder in the centuries during the fights between Christianity and paganism the Germans were almost completely destroyed, the areas between Elbe and Rhine saw the invasion of the Hungarians and Avars, who in the Saxon and Frankish districts carried out terrible devastations and bloodbaths and decimated the local Germanic population.

Such Mongol-mixed tribal waves have been pressing against Central Europe from time to time since the Hun invasion. A few centuries after the collapse of the Hunnic empire were the Avars, who coming north of the Black Sea devastated the Balkan countries and advanced as far as Germany and Italy. About a hundred years later the invasions of the Hungarians began, which brought death and devastation to Germany. After the Hungarians were defeated by the Lechites in 955 on the Lechfeld near Augsburg, there followed almost three hundred years later the invasion of the Mongols. These broke out from Asia under Genghis Khan and threatened westward after the subjugation of the Russians and Poles under his grandson Batu. On the battlefield near Liegnitz in Silesia in 1241 they suffered such losses that they withdrew back to Hungary. The next wave came exceptionally not over the wide plains of southern Russia, but over Asia Minor and the Balkans; these were the Turks, whose advance was only ended before the walls of Vienna in 1683. Also what has been going on at the eastern border of Germany since the beginning of the World War is again such a wave that has been dammed up there for a long time and has now finally come into forward movement; but even with the conclusion of the World War this wave has not yet found an end.

While the pressing of this West Asian or East European-West Asian tribal mixture, which one wants to designate as natural, mostly directed against Central Europe and this to overflow, there is also another area threatened by these tribal masses, and that is India. Already several times in historical time it has been overrun from the north. Such a renewed conquest of India would be as a whole the process in the areas of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, but for the rest of Europe by no means equally dangerous, because the danger lies in the fact that the growth in human material, which the rulers then find in India and further on, is set in motion against Europe on occasion.

Page 93

A large part of the old Aryan population of Germania was thus destroyed by the century-long fights and by the invasions of Asian hordes. On the other hand, however, non-Aryan influx into the Germanic districts took place from all sides throughout the entire period. So it is not surprising that as a result of the advance of the Franks as well as the Christian priesthood a mass of non-Germanic immigrants from Gaul found their way into western Germania. Again Slavic immigrants from the east and southeast are said to have moved, who settled as tributaries between the Germans of East Elbe. The further flourishing of trade before and after the slave trade, so that both in western and eastern Germania a number of foreign-blooded male and female servants came into the land as slaves or tributaries. In Germany, the Roman campaigns, the Thirty Years’ War, which brought Spaniards and all possible other peoples to Germany, the Huguenot immigration, the plundering raids of the French, the Seven Years’ War and the Napoleonic Wars also brought non-Germanic blood into the land and consumed Germanic blood for it. It is therefore no wonder if the current German people in their racial composition differs very much from that of 2000 years ago.

Also in the other Germanic countries outside Germany the Aryans have not remained pure, everywhere foreign blood has come in. Even in distant Iceland slaves and female slaves were brought into the land by the Viking raids and have mixed with the Germanic population of the island.

This influx of non-Aryan blood into the so-called Germanic countries has by no means ceased, but continues and threatens to undermine the Aryan race through ever further mixing of their best characteristics.

Looking back over the millennia, one sees how the Aryans have influenced the world and the other races and how Aryan blood, which still lives on today in so many peoples of the world, always creates something new and above all beneficially influences state life. No one can close their eyes to the conviction that the Aryan tribe has rendered the most important services to the world.

History also teaches, however, that when Aryan blood present in a people is diluted, or when the Aryan upper class of a people or country no longer has any influence or is even destroyed and the rest of the people, as is so often the case, disregards the old laws, then the states concerned head toward downfall.

Without Aryan basic principles, no state can truly exist. Even rulers, no matter how much and whose tribes they want to be, must return more or less to Aryan basic principles if their and their descendants’ or successors’ rule is to be of long duration.

Just as the different human races differ among themselves, so it is with the Aryan race in comparison to the others. And more than this, the Aryan tribe possesses certain abilities and characteristics that the other human races do not have, but which have already brought so many blessings and advantages to these.

It cannot therefore be in the interest of humanity to let such a tribe die out. This danger stands before us if it is not stopped in time. For through the further advancing mixing the pure-blooded tribe is diminished more and more…

Page 95

…which one now only encounters here and there in remote areas in small numbers.

Since it is not possible to transplant old and young far away from the accustomed domestic conditions without further ado, but only a certain part besides the young generation is suitable for this, two areas are necessary for a new Aryan state foundation: one as a gathering place and the second as new land, as future home for the newly to be established state. In the gathering area only those may find admission who are Aryan and not merely those who hold themselves to be Aryan; whoever is Aryan and wants to find admission must have decided on the leadership. From the gathering area the younger adults who prove themselves as pure-blooded Aryans, as well as the completely pure Aryan offspring (light blond, blue-eyed, and equipped with the other Aryan racial characteristics) are then transferred to the new land, the actual settlement area.

In the traffic that takes place between the gathering area and the new land, the gathering area must have its own harbor or harbors suitable for seagoing ships. The region of the Baltic coast would be best suited for this; only the gathering area would have to be large enough to be able to absorb the Aryan offspring from the Germanic and neighboring countries for generations to come. This area would moreover already form a part of the original settlement area of the Aryans in Europe, so it would no longer be right and proper if the undeveloped land in this area were made available again to the Aryan tribe. Given the mass of the already existing population in this area, a pure Aryan state could not be established here. Moreover, it would always be exposed again to the eternal pressure of the Asian tribal masses.

It is therefore necessary to assign to the Aryan tribe an area located in a calmer region of the world as a home. Such an area, which is sparsely populated, yet healthy and fertile and of sufficient size, is still to be found in…

East Africa. This is in the first line the so-called Maasai land, which possesses healthy, high-lying parts. In the north it borders with the outliers of the Abyssinian highlands, to the south it finds its continuation over Uhehe in the highlands of the Nyasa Lake, and to the west it goes into the highlands of Ruanda and Tanganyika Lake. Its center has the area in the former German East Africa, there it also extends with its high-lying parts almost to the coast. The borders of the Aryan interest area in East Africa result almost by themselves, and indeed on the one hand through the sea and on the other hand on land through the low-lying areas of the Nile and Congo river systems as well as in the south through the low-lying valley of the Zambezi. Apart from the Abyssinia located in the north, whose continued existence as an independent state can only lie in the interest of the Aryan tribe, the area in question comprises, besides the former German East Africa, the present mandate area, still various parts of the territory under European sovereignty, which, in case of a change of ownership, should fall to the Aryan state.

For an emigration to the Aryan new land in East Africa, the home, only young people of both sexes come into question, who can adapt to the new climate and the new Aryan institutions. The admission to immigration must also lie entirely in the hands of the leadership, so that here only members of the fully pure Aryan tribe come to settlement. There is enough land in the high-lying parts of East Africa in which Aryan immigrants from northern Europe can be physically active. Other parts of the highland with middle layers will first be settled by the children of these settlers, because one must take into consideration that the tribe has already lived for more than 12,000 years in the cold north of Europe and has thus found an adaptation. If one considers, however, that the Aryan from a warm land…

Page 97

…comes, so with time an adaptation to the warm climate will also take place for the descendants of the Nordic Aryans who emigrated to the highlands of East Africa. Even if this does not become so far-reaching that the Aryans can inhabit and work in the hot lowlands with wife and child, the high-lying parts and the middle layers will nevertheless over time form a closed Aryan area, while the lowlands remain an area inhabited by the native Negro. Moreover, these hot low-lying areas offer the Negro much more than the highlands; in these he has only withdrawn out of fear of robber neighbors or because of the better pastures for his cattle.

It is an unavoidable necessity that the entire area, including the Negro population, passes into the hands of the Aryan tribe alone, so that no mixed population arises and the Negro is not brought into a position hostile to the Aryans living next to them through capitalistic exploitation and false treatment. Such a state of affairs must be prevented in time by suitable measures from the Aryan interest area, so that the Aryan does not develop in the mixing area, which arises between white and black, and assumes particularly bloody and cruel forms. With the current type and manner of colonization, the emergence of such conditions, which only represent a somewhat different form of general cultural development, is unavoidable. A further unavoidable necessity is that in those parts of the East African area that are to be settled by the Aryan tribe, the Aryan keeps himself separate, lives according to his own laws and customs and performs all work himself. In the first years the latter will be somewhat difficult, it must be helped there by suitable measures. As soon as larger offspring is present, the performance of all work offers no more difficulties.

The establishment of an Aryan state system in East Africa would, if it were neutralized, have the advantage for the neighboring countries that it would provide them with good rear and flank cover, whereby important connections running from north to south and from east to west would be secured over long distances. Likewise, a neutralized Aryan state on the east coast of Africa would, after this had later, in the event of a possible change of ownership of the European colonies located there, possibly support the whole of East Africa from the sea entrance of Bab el Mandeb to the Zambezi mouth, be a valuable flank protection.

As the Aryans according to their entire disposition are an agricultural and animal-breeding people, they will also turn to this further in the new homeland, as it suits them best. Consequently, the new Aryan state system would be a constant buyer for the industrial states and these in turn could supply it with desired agricultural and forestry products.

In the interest of the preservation and maintenance of their tribe, the Aryans have both the duty and the right to claim a territory for themselves in which they can live and develop according to their nature. On the other hand, they must then also avoid imposing their views and institutions on the other peoples or hindering other peoples and their leading circles, who go their own ways and pursue their special interests, in their path. The Aryan tribe must, if it possesses its own territory, carefully refrain from such actions and limit itself solely to its own affairs.

Here those peoples, circles and personalities who stand up for the reconciliation of peoples and the right of self-determination have the opportunity to prove themselves fruitful, in that they work towards the Aryan tribe being assigned its own territory in which it can live under itself according to its…

…own appropriate manner and in which it can further preserve and multiply its pure blood.

For the re-formation of the Aryan tribe, only pure Aryan families or the offspring of those families who still have completely pure blood come into question as members. But also all others who find Aryan descent and origin in their ancestors, in which countries and in which parts of the earth they may be, provided their heart beats for the Aryan cause, can help the tribe through support and by providing the means that are necessary for the care and strengthening of the Aryan tribe as well as for the later construction of an Aryan state. Thus they would also have a share in the re-blossoming of that tribal people to whom they owe the best part of their being.
