Paul Wallis is an author who served in the Anglican church in Australia. In this talk he argues that the Bible keeps the memory of other beings who arrived on Earth, and that later editors painted over it with a single God. He says the name Yahweh was pasted over older stories of the Elohim, and that treating those stories as the acts of God has been used to excuse violence. He links the Bible to abduction and hybrid stories from Ghana and other places, to flood and creation accounts, and to the Nephilim. He also talks about his own family and the people who write to him, and says Jesus saw God as a father and kept clear of the Yahweh stories.
Key points
- Wallis says the Hebrew scriptures were reworked in the sixth century BCE to look like a story of one God, and that older stories of rival powerful beings still show through.
- He says the name Yahweh was pasted over earlier Elohim stories, and that reading them as the acts of God has been used to excuse violence.
- He cites abduction and hybrid stories from Ghana and many other places as one of the most widespread ancient stories.
- He reads the dark flooded planet at the start of Genesis as the memory of a devastation, followed by beings who came to restore it.
- He reads Genesis 6 and the Nephilim through the book of Enoch, as a second wave of visitors who had children with humans.
- He says the Ark and other objects in the Hebrew scriptures worked as technology, and that translators in 1611 had no words for it.
- He says Jesus spoke of God as a father, and that the early church dropped the Hebrew law in Acts 15.
