Elder Races lived in the Earth
As your Bible correctly records (Genesis 6:4) the Elder Races lived in the Earth, not on it. The surface environment was very unfavorable for them. The Garden of Eden was naturally also in the Earth, and the Adams were sent up and out on to the surface. The Apocryhas account of their first day and night on the surface (First Book of Adam and Eve) tells of their dismay when the sun set, and their terror when it rose again the next morning, thus plainly indicating that they were entirely unfamiliar with surface conditions.
“Then Adam said to Eve, ‘When we were on the mountain we were comforted by the Word of God that conversed with us; and the light that came from the east shown over us. But now the Word of God is hidden from us; and the light that shown over us is so changed as to disappear, and let darkness and sorrow come over us. And we are forced to enter this cave which is like a prison, in which darkness covers us, so that we are separated from each other; and you can not see me, neither can I see you.’ When Adam had said these words, they cried and spread their hands before God; for they were full of sorrow. And they prayed to God to bring the sun to them, to shine on them, so that darkness would not return to them, and that they wouldn’t have to go under this covering of rock. And they wished to die rather than see the darkness.”

“After this, Adam and Eve continued to stand in the cave, praying and crying, until the morning dawned on them. And when they saw the light returned to them, they restrained from fear, and strengthened their hearts. Then Adam began to come out of the cave. And when he came to the mouth of it, and stood and turned his face towards the east, and saw the sun rise in glowing rays, and felt the heat thereof on his body, he was afraid of it, and thought in his heart that this flame came forth to plague him. He then cried and beat his chest, then he fell on the ground on his face and made his request, saying: ‘O Lord, plague me not, neither consume me, nor yet take away my life from the earth.’ For he thought the sun was God.”

The Gardens
There were actually several “Gardens,” since each of the Elder Races was assigned to populate a certain area. There was close cooperation between these groups, and consider-able exchange of technical personnel, since certain groups excelled in certain arts. Over all of these groups was a coordinating authority. He was of a higher race than the Elders, but was still a mortal, not a true Deity. Important decisions were formed by mutual consultation and agreement between groups, and all usually put them into effect at the same time.
The genetic engineering process was not instantaneous but took place over decades or even centuries. The primary laboratory was in the Middle East, near Temple Mount. Other labs existed across the planet.

The Biblical accounts actually deal with only one of these areas: the Hebraic-Greco Assyrian zone.(See Genesis 3) However, they would apply, with only minor modifications, to all areas and groups. The various Adamic races have different versions of these first days. Some of their information is factual, but much of it is necessarily allegorical, because the things were beyond the understanding of those who wrote the accounts. Most of these accounts also have suffered much during translations and revisions. Analyzing them with these factors in mind, however, will show that they are all basically the same.
God created man in his own image
And the Elohim said, Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

The statement that “God created man in his own image” is correct from either the physical or spiritual point of view. The real, or inner, self is part of the Unnameable, so is necessarily in Its image. Each of the Elder Races naturally considered their own racial characteristics to be superior, so made their particular “Adams” to look as nearly like themselves as possible. Various internal changes were necessary, but their creations were superficially the same in appearance as themselves. Thus the material self is also in the image of the material “gods.”
The parent stock of the Adams consisted of many low-vibrational level life-forms, both human and non-human, from many other worlds. Persons and animals are occasionally taken from your planet in a similar manner for the purpose of populating some other young world. The consent of such persons is always obtained. The purpose is explained, and they are permitted to make a completely free-will decision. Most of them enthusiastically agree. If they should not, all memories of the incident are erased from their minds, and they are returned unharmed in any way.
It is almost impossible to trace the genealogy of your present races. Many former land areas no longer exist. Many new ones have arisen. During the resulting mass migrations, there was great intermixing of the races. Most of the present races of your planet are mixtures of several different ancient peoples. In addition to the races, which were actually bred on your planet, there were two other groups who were developed elsewhere and moved to your world en masse when disaster faced their own planets.

Update 1: Dreamtime
In this creation myth, the Sun Mother is tasked by the Father of All Spirits to awaken dormant spirits on Earth. Initially, she creates plant life on the surface. She then enters caves, potentially symbolizing the inner Earth, to awaken more spirits.
From the first caves, insects emerge and fly out, integrating with the surface plants. In a deeper cave, her light and heat melt ice, forming rivers and streams. She then forms aquatic and reptilian life, such as fish, small snakes, lizards, and frogs, which emerge from the cave.
Subsequently, birds and animals burst out into the sunlight, completing the array of life forms. The Sun Mother instructs all creatures to live peacefully before ascending as the sun. This narrative highlights caves as a source of diverse life emerging from subterranean origins, akin to an inner Earth realm.

Hopi Myth (Native American, Southwest US): Humanity progresses through multiple underground worlds, emerging into the current “Fourth World” via a sipapu, a symbolic hole often linked to the Grand Canyon. Insect-like beings in early cave-dwelling stages transform and ascend, guided by Spider Grandmother.
Navajo myth (Native American, Southwest US): Insect people emerge from underground realms, evolving physically and morally as they ascend through worlds. This emphasizes gradual development from dark, subterranean origins to surface life.

Zulu myth (Southern African): The first ancestral couple emerges from a reed in primeval swampland, representing an origin from underground or the earth’s womb, tied to the union of Heaven and Earth.
Brazilian Indigenous myth (tribes along the Parima River): Forefathers emerge from an underground land in ancient times, with some ancestors believed to remain inside the Earth.
Acoma myth (Native American, Southwest US): Two sister-spirits live in underworld darkness, plant a pine tree to break through to the surface, and emerge with seeds and animal models, guided by Thinking Woman to create life.
Kiowa myth (Native American, Plains US): People begin in a hollow log underground and squeeze through to emerge, but a pregnant woman blocks the way, limiting the tribe’s size upon ascent.
Apache myth (Jicarilla, Native American, Southwest US): Potential life forms exist in a damp, dark underworld; deities create animals and the first humans from clay, leading to emergence into the present world.

Minyong myth (South Asian, Northern India): Stone Son and Bamboo Son emerge from a dropped stone and bamboo, with the first humans forming from their knees in an earth-based ascent.
Update 3: Mountains
In the beginning I assumed that mountains were landing sites for sky beings, but these mountains could as well serve as gates to the inner earth. Mount Shasta, for example, is linked to the final hiding place of the Lemurians and Atlanteans.
The portals in Mount Shasta are utilized by inner Earth beings, the Agarthans, who operate in collaboration with extraterrestrial entities.
