This shows the results of the catastrophe which took place about 200,000 years ago. With the exception of the rents in the continents both of Atlantis and America, and the submergence of Egypt, it will be seen how relatively unimportant were the subsidences and upheavals at this epoch, indeed the fact that this catastrophe has not always been considered as one of the great ones, is apparent from the quotation already given from the sacred book of the Guatemalans, three great ones only being there mentioned.
The Scandinavian island however, appears now as joined to the mainland. The two islands into which Atlantis was now split were known by the names of Ruta and Daitya.
The stupendous character of the natural convulsion that took place about 80,000 years ago, will be apparent from the fourth map. Daitya, the smaller and more southerly of the islands, has almost entirely disappeared, while of Ruta there only remains the relatively small island of Poseidonis.

Psychic W. Scott-Elliot
Psychic W. Scott-Elliot, a late-nineteenth-century member of the Theosophical Society, tells us that a group of highly evolved people from Lemuria, a land now submerged under the Pacific Ocean, ranked among the first settlers of Atlantis. More than 100,000 years ago, astute Lemurians foresaw that their increasingly unstable homeland would break apart and sink. They abandoned their homes and traveled to the southern region of Atlantis.
Lemuria was an ancient country that, like Atlantis, suffered constant earthquake activity and volcanic eruptions before most of it vanished beneath the ocean. Numerous psychics, including Madame Blavatsky (who founded the Theosophical Society), maintain that Lemuria served as the birthplace of humanity. Pacific-region legends describe today’s island groups as the scattered remnants of this once-vast land. At a meeting of the Tenth World Pacific Congress, George H. Cronwell reported that discoveries of coal and ancient flora on Rapa Island, southwest of Mangareva, supply evidence that a continent once existed in that part of the Pacific.
In prehistoric times, adventurous humans walked great distances across the globe, while innovative coastal peoples channeled their ingenuity into building floating vehicles that carried them faster and farther. Although arduous, the journey from Lemuria to Atlantis remained possible.
The Lemurians who reached Atlantis prospered. Their descendants lived contentedly for thousands of years. These earliest Atlantean residents lived intimately with nature in small settlements encircled by gardens and trees. They required no material possessions to feel personally adequate. People evaluated one another by the quality of their character rather than by accumulated goods. Free from excessive desires, individuals turned inward for happiness and lived in harmony with the world around them. During this era, Atlanteans maintained a life roughly fifty percent spiritual and fifty percent practical, a balance some regard as close to an ideal state of being.
Power of the mind
Edgar Cayce indicates that early Atlanteans used the power of their minds to control their bodies, a capacity they inherited from their highly endowed Lemurian forebears. When needed, they could summon extraordinary physical strength on demand, much as a person today sometimes performs an impossible feat in an emergency, such as lifting a car off someone trapped beneath it. The muscles of a hypnotized person can likewise achieve remarkable acts, because the latent capacities of our ancestors still reside within us. A few highly trained individuals today consciously recall and apply these abilities; they deliberately alter their heartbeat and blood pressure.
News of Atlantis’s pleasant living conditions reached the nearby African continent. Powerful, aggressive tribes crossed the water to claim the desirable land. The invaders gradually pushed the Lemurians northward. For a long period the two groups fought brutal battles. In time they intermingled, and the genes of the two distinct peoples merged.
Dangerous Animals
In 52,000 B.C., dangerous large animals and birds outnumbered the human race and terrorized humankind all over the planet. In Atlantis they made life almost impossible. Numerous species of elephants, mammoths fourteen feet high at the shoulders, massive herds of mastodon, hungry cats and wolves, and large wild horses roamed freely where people attempted to live.
When these unpleasant creatures trampled orchards and destroyed crops, a whole season’s food was often lost. Ruth Montgomery, a psychic who receives information from her spirit guides in the form of automatic writing, describes these carnivorous brutes fighting battles among themselves to determine who would have the privilege of eating the available people. Gigantic birds hovered overhead, eager to devour the leftovers of any available humans, particularly children. When desperate Atlanteans thrust spears and swords against the animals’ thick hides, their weapons simply crumpled like paper; flame throwers and explosives were equally ineffective. Something had to be done.
Atlantis: Insights from a Lost Civilization
The first major gathering
Faced with savage beasts threatening people worldwide, Atlantis’s leaders dispatched messengers across the globe, on foot and by small boats, to seek solutions. After extensive and often perilous travels, they convened a series of conferences in Atlantis. The first major gathering took place in 52,000 B.C. and brought together wise representatives from five nations and races: regions now known as Russia and the Near East, the Sudan and upper West Africa, the future Gobi Desert area, the remaining parts of Lemuria, and Atlantis itself. Delegates from India and Peru (then called Og) joined later meetings.
Development of powerfull weapons
The conferences agreed that Atlantis would pursue advanced research into the chemical forces of the earth and air to develop more powerful weapons.
Rapid scientific and technological progres
By 51,000 B.C., rapid scientific and technological progress had transformed Atlantean society. Agriculture improved, education expanded, and material wealth, especially gold, silver, and precious gems obtained through better mining, became central to life.
Ambition and intolerance
People lavishly adorned themselves and their buildings, while thinking grew increasingly analytical and left-brain dominant. Ambition and intolerance rose as respect for fellow humans and harmony with nature declined. Most Atlanteans stopped practicing clairvoyant thought transmission and other intuitive abilities, gradually losing trust in their own innate capacities.
Two very diverse groups sought power in Atlantis before 50,000 B.C. Edgar Cayce describes one as the Sons of Belial, who worshiped ease and pleasure, sought tangible possessions, and were spiritually immoral. The other, the Children of the Law of One, focused on love and practiced prayer and meditation together, hoping to promote divine knowledge. They were referred to as the Children of the Law of One because they advocated One Religion, One State, One Home, and One God.
Atlantis: Insights from a Lost Civilization
In Atlantis, beings from various dimensions and worlds arrived. Some came from realms of light singularity, others from denser, darker singularities. The denser beings could not easily manipulate the original humans, who could simply disappear or transmute when they chose. So these beings decided to create a new form of human “in their image and likeness,” using genetic material from the original humans.
This mixing created the first internal duality: two different consciousnesses now animating the same body. The Bible’s story of Adam and Eve and the “gods” who created them begins here. These creator beings demanded sacrifice — the first recorded human sacrifice being Cain killing Abel, which fed them exactly the energy they required.
From that point on, temples, sacrifices, and control systems spread across the world.

A poleshift combined with Atlantean’s reckless use of explosives
Soon after the final conference in 50,722 B.C., catastrophe struck Atlantis. According to the account, an “all-powerful god” rebelled against the growing decadence of the population. A pole shift combined with the Atlanteans’ reckless use of explosives triggered massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. In 50,000 B.C., most of the dangerous animals perished, while the Atlanteans themselves endured horrific suffering. Violent quakes, toxic gases, lava flows, and widespread flooding destroyed fields, homes, and infrastructure. As the continent fractured into islands, desperate survivors fled on makeshift rafts and boats.
Refugees
Many refugees found relative safety in Africa, where the climate was favorable and game was plentiful. Their descendants thrived and multiplied rapidly, but within about 1,000 years, overhunting drove numerous animal species to extinction. Other groups reached the fertile Amazon basin in South America. Attracted by rich soil for farming (they avoided meat, believing it diminished psychic abilities and physical vitality), they established large plantations, orchards, and gardens.
In Peru (then called Og), Atlantean craftsmen encountered the Ohlms, who had earlier fled unstable Lemuria. After a brief war, the Ohlms overthrew their unpopular, decadent leader and welcomed the Atlanteans. The newcomers introduced improved agricultural and mining techniques, helped create an egalitarian government, built communal storehouses, and strengthened education.
Those who remained in Atlantis fared far worse. The earthquakes and volcanic activity continued for roughly 4,000 years, forcing survivors to retreat into the mountains and live in primitive conditions, far longer than the entire span of our current civilization.
