A trinary star group

A trinary star group, it is known in Earth mythology as the Dog Star.

Sirius was one of the first areas to be colonized by beings from the Lyran star group. Sirius embodied the energy of the triadic template and perpetuated the drive toward integration. There is a large variety of consciousness types that incarnate in this system.

Jackal or dog

In ancient Egypt, Anubis was considered a guide of the underworld. His usual depicted form was that of a crouching desert dog or jackal. He was known to lead souls through the astral (as in dream state) as well as to Amenti, or land of the dead. It is interesting how the prefix “an” in both Sumerian and Egyptian means “of Heaven.” Anubis (Anpu in Egyptian) and Anu (Sumerian) both possessed the symbology of the jackal or dog, suggesting a direct connection to the Dog Star Sirius. – The Prism of Lyra

Tishtrya, Tishtar, Tir, Tishya, Sothis

In Zoroastrian tradition (ancient Iranian religion), Tishtrya is a benevolent divinity (yazata) linked to rainfall, fertility, and cosmic order. Scholars and ancient texts identify Tishtrya as the personification of the star Sirius (Alpha Canis Majoris), the brightest star in the night sky, also called the Dog Star.

• The Avestan hymn Tištar Yašt (Yasht 8) is dedicated to Tishtrya and describes him as the star that brings life-giving rains, often depicted flying like an arrow across the sky.
• In Modern Persian, Sirius is called Tishtar or Tir, derived from the same root.
• This connection appears in Zoroastrian sources (Avesta), scholarly works (e.g., Encyclopaedia Iranica, Antonio Panaino’s studies), and comparative Indo-Iranian mythology.
• Similar associations exist in related cultures: Vedic Tishya (linked to Sirius in some interpretations), Egyptian Sothis (Sirius), and Mesopotamian names for the star as an “arrow.”

The identification is widely accepted in historical and religious studies of ancient Iran. It is not a modern invention but rooted in archaic Indo-Iranian astral lore.

Scientific Status

• Sirius is a confirmed binary system: Sirius A (main-sequence star) and Sirius B (white dwarf).
• No confirmed third star exists. A 1995 study suggested possible perturbations hinting at a low-mass companion (e.g., small red dwarf or brown dwarf), but later observations disproved it.
• Hubble Space Telescope data (2017 and earlier) ruled out any stellar-mass companion (nothing above ~0.014 solar masses in short orbits, or larger in longer ones). Any hypothetical object would be at most a small brown dwarf or large planet, not matching Dogon descriptions of a visible or significant star.
• Claims of “Sirius C” remain unproven and are considered fringe or outdated in astronomy.
