Lifting humanity through shepherds, allotments and lineages

In this article, we explore the role of the shepherds in ancient texts and compare Plato’s story of Atlantis with the biblical account of Noah and the Flood.

Once upon a time the gods were taking over by lot the whole earth according to its regions, not according to the results of strife: for it would not be reasonable to suppose that the gods were ignorant of their own several rights, nor yet that they attempted to obtain for themselves by means of strife a possession to which others, as they knew, had a better claim. So by just allotments they received each one his own, and they settled their countries; and when they had thus settled them, they reared us up, even as herdsmen.

Plato Critias [109b]

“By lot” means a division of territory through a fair and pre-ordained distribution, not through violence or conquest. The gods received regions as part of a cosmic arrangement. Plato stresses that gods were not ignorant of their rightful domains and did not contend over land.

Zeus gave it to Hermes, slayer of Argos, guide, and guardian. King Hermes gave it to Pelops, the mighty charioteer, and Pelops to Atreus, shepherd of his people.

Illiad, Homer

Each god rules a specific territory

Every deity received a defined portion of the earth. For example Poseidon was allotted Atlantis, while Athena and Hephaestus were given Athens. This mirrors the biblical theme (Deuteronomy 32:8–9), where the “Most High” divides nations among divine beings.

“When the Most High divided the nations, when He separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.”

Deuteronomy 32:8

But in the Septuagint (Greek translation) and the Dead Sea Scrolls, the wording is different:

“…He fixed the boundaries of the nations according to the number of the sons of God (or sons of the gods).”

Another example from The Book of Sirach, also known as Ecclesiasticus or the Wisdom of Ben Sira, a Jewish wisdom text from the deuterocanonical books of the Bible:

Over every nation he appointed a ruler, but Israel is the Lord’s own portion.

Sirach 17:17

Hypotheses: The biblical view of a simple shepherd caring for his livestock (sheep) may be to simple. Alternatively, the people (humans) are the flock, and the shepherd (caretaker/overseer/ruler) is the (earthly) medium between the humans and the highest God.

Shepherds in the Old Testament

In Genesis, there are verses that can be read as references to the shepherding of the flock, where humanity—or specific genetic groups within humanity—appears to be under guidance.

And she brought forth Abel (Et-Hevel), his brother. Abel became Guardian of the flocks, but Cain (Qayin) became a cultivator of the earth.

Genesis 4:2

Now Abram (Avram) was extremely prosperous, possessing much livestock, along with silver and gold.” / “And it happened that a conflict arose between the keepers of Abram’s livestock and Lot’s livestock, and the Canaanites and the Perizzites, who were at that time settled in that territory.”

Genesis 13:2, 13:7

Isaac cultivated in that land and, during that year, gained a hundredfold, and was blessed. He grew wealthy, and he progressed to grow in wealth until he became exceedingly wealthy. He possessed herds of sheep, cattle, and many servants, and the Philistines begrudged him.

Genesis 26:12-14

Some shepherds ruled harshly and brutally

“Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock? You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not take care of the flock. You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally.”

Ezekiel 34:2–4

Here, the “shepherds” are Israel’s leaders (kings, priests, prophets) who exploited the people instead of protecting them. Another interesting observation about the characteristics of these gods or leaders is the following:

“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! declares the Lord. Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done.”

Jeremiah 23:1–2

Again, here you start wondering why the Lord (The YHWH) cares so much about how shepherds take care of the animals. Unless it’s not about the animals, but about humans.

God rebukes the “gods” (elohim) who ruled unjustly:

“How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

Psalm 82:2–4

The divine shepherds failed in their duty, leading God to condemn them to die “like men.”

Plato and the Failed Shepherd

Plato also uses the shepherd metaphor for rulers or gods.

In Critias (109b–c), Plato directly critiques unjust rulers who act more like predators than protectors.

The gods were allotted regions and were meant to act as shepherds. But later in the dialogue, the Atlanteans’ rulers (descendants of Poseidon) became corrupt:

At first, they governed justly. Later, they became greedy, unjust, and oppressive, forgetting their divine origin.

This failure led Zeus to call the gods together to judge them, beginning the story of Atlantis’ downfall.

Republic (Book I, 342e–343b)

Socrates argues with Thrasymachus about rulers as shepherds:

A true shepherd cares for the sheep.

But false rulers (bad shepherds) use power to exploit the flock for their own benefit.

Shepherds practise dominion over the humans in the same way that humans practise dominion over the animals.

We only need to look at our relationship with animals to see a memory of the past. Some people treat animals with love and compassion, while others see them as food and justify practices of separation and mutilation that turn their lives into suffering. As I write this, I am reminded of Job 1, where YHWH allows Job to be cruelly tested, raising questions about the nature of suffering and the justice behind it.

Connecting the dots

The story of Atlantis resembles the shepherd stories in the Old Testament. Each deity was given a portion of the earth. Poseidon received Atlantis, but over time his people became greedy, unjust, and oppressive, forgetting their divine origin. In Genesis 6 we read that humanity’s wickedness also increased.

• YHWH planned a flood but spared Noah.
• Zeus called the gods together to pass judgment.

And Abram was very rich in livestock [בַּמִּקְנֶה], in silver, and in gold.

Genesis 13:2

I want to conclude with the following:

• The gods/rulers were allotted different parts of the earth.
• Some acted as good shepherds, while others did not.
• The Old Testament becomes easier to understand if we step away from strict monotheism and see instead the reappearance of a hierarchy of gods/rulers.

Update 3: The Sumerian Shepherds in Genesis 5

What I realized is that there are ten patriarchs in Genesis 5 (shepherds or rulers) both before and after the Great Flood. Their recorded lifespans are extremely long, up to 969 years. I discovered that they were based on the Sumerian sexagesimal system (base 60). This led me to uncover a deeper pattern.

Update 4: Matias de Stefano

Homids, homo sapiens, we had no idea where we were. We couldn’t handle it. They are not ready. We needed to be protected, held in Islands, until we could understand all this information. So the ones keeping the information from humans were the ones saying they were not ready. They don’t know how to handle this information. So that was their defense on why not to give them the information of what they were, the project of humanity. So they kept that information for them. And that’s why they were sent to the underground. They were hunting them.

And there was a war between the beings from the sky and the Giants on Earth that were held in a part of the Middle East and India. And these beings were called in the ancient texts demons and angels fighting a big war on the planet. But there were not many. There were just hundreds of people from the Aessir. There were not thousands.

Update 5: Enki received the island of Dilmun

Plato’s Critias states: “In the days of old the gods had the whole earth distributed among them by allotment. There was no quarrelling.”

The Enki and Ninhursag myth declares: “Pure are the cities — and you are the ones to whom they are allotted. Pure is Dilmun land. Pure is Sumer — and you are the ones to whom it is allotted.”

The Akkadian myth “Inúma ilú awílum” (Atrahasis), translated by Tikva Frymer-Kensky, explains: “The gods cast lots and divided (the Cosmos): [Anu] went up to [heaven] [Enlil had] the earth as his subject; [the lock,] the snare of the sea [was given] to [Enki] the wise.”

Enki received the island of Dilmun through this cosmic allotment, as the Enki and Ninhursag myth describes: “He laid her down all alone in Dilmun, and the place where Enki had lain down with his spouse, that place was still virginal, that place was still pristine.”

Update 6: Modern humans exhibit a classic domestication syndrome

Modern humans exhibit a classic domestication syndrome: reduced reactive aggression, gracile skulls, smaller jaws, rounded crania, and pedomorphic traits, identical to changes in tame silver foxes and bonobos. Richard Wrangham argues this resulted from language-enabled coalitions executing aggressive males, selecting against hot-tempered dominance in hunter-gatherer societies.

This social mechanism, observed ethnographically worldwide, rapidly produced a cooperative, tolerant species capable of planned violence but not spontaneous rage, proving self-domestication occurred without external guidance, mirroring Belyaev’s fox experiment and bonobo evolution.

Update 7: Space travelers land on this planet

You are correct as far as you have taken it, because this group landed in North America and established their colony there. But this was not the only group of space travelers to land on your planet. Since several of the other peoples were not very advanced yet, whenever any of these groups landed their ships in other parts of the planet, the people would take it as a miraculous event. There have been many stories of this type of visit that were put into legends and passed down, particularly in the Middle East. The people who were living there at the time were very superstitious and took notice of anything out of the ordinary. Since they had reading and writing they recorded it and the event would be preserved in that way. As a result, in several holy writings around the Earth you have these descriptions of miraculous visits and voyages. For example, in the ancient kingdom of Mesopotamia we have The Epic of Gilgamesh which gives us the story of Gilgamesh and his friend, Enkidu. (The encyclopedia lists this as one of the very earliest epics and was written on Babylonian clay tablets in cuneiform. It also refers to Utnapishtim, an equivalent to Noah.) The epic describes a voyage that Gilgamesh takes, to where the sea that he looks at becomes a pond and then a mud puddle and then like a porridge bowl. What he is describing is that he was able to take a trip in one of these ships. There are other descriptions that have been preserved in what you would call the Bible. There are several descriptions of the landing of this type of ship and the people who came out of it. For example, the man named John who wrote “Revelation” saw a ship land, and they broadcasted greetings and such. The people who were listening to this were very frightened of what was happening. In another place Ezekiel described seeing the ship land in the desert. Ezekiel had been out in the desert for a while, and as part of his meditation he indulged in hallucinogenic substances, so he was accustomed to strange things happening. Thus he was not as afraid as other chroniclers had been, and so he could be a bit more objective about what he was writing. But it was still very wondrous to him, because he did not have enough knowledge of technology to give as accurate a description as he would have liked.

Update 9: the Pleiades and Sirius

We would like to talk a bit about the ancient days, before written records, when history was passed orally. Much of that oral history, in all countries, created what you now call mythology.

One of the strongest threads in mythology on your world has to do with two main star groups: the Pleiades and Sirius. In ancient days, these groups worked together. This is a common thing T-groups do on developing planets. They work not to influence people but to help nurture growth. We see this as our duty to plant seeds and remind you of your connection to the universe.

On Earth, your ancient Pleiadian and Sirian Galactic Families created a type of school in which those who were ready would receive ancient wisdom from the stars that could germinate over millennia until the time of your awakening.

Humans attracted to the schools received in-depth training. One important reason for this training was because at certain points in history your Galactic Family had to leave Earth.

They left for many reasons, which we won’t discuss here. When they knew they would be leaving, they prepared priests and priestesses to carry the energy of the stars and continue the wisdom teachings over time. Even if the teachings did not widely spread, the knowledge would be in the mass-consciousness memory bank, so to speak.

These early priests and priestesses were usually genetic hybrids — part human and part ET. In this case, they were primarily human-Pleiadian or human-Sirian. This aided in the transmission of the information. Also, the human life span was very short, but the work the priests and priestesses did needed to carry over many generations. Having ET genetics allowed them to lengthen their life spans so that they could continue their teachings over many generations and also ground the teachings in mass consciousness for future use. Over time, ET genetics diluted. Life spans got shorter, and much of humanity deeply buried the knowledge of their celestial origins.

Religions, with their dogma, replaced the true teachings from the stars, and humankind entered a temporary metaphorical sleep until a time in the distant future when it would be time to awaken.

In these ancient days, the lineages of these spiritual ET groups were often represented by a symbol.

Pleiadian energy was often symbolized by a winged creature, like a bird. When you see mythological figures on Earth with birds as symbols, it is a pretty good indication that it is sourced from Pleiadian energy. Hawks, eagles, and condors were common symbols.

The Sirian lineage around the world has used the symbol of the serpent. In Asia and the East, it is often the dragon. In the West, it is often the snake or serpent. Both refer to this Sirian lineage of wisdom teachings.

The Lyran lineage is often depicted on your world as feline, such as the lion crest of the United Kingdom’s royal family.

With this information, some pieces of the puzzle start to fit:

  • In the Chronicles of Ankor, there is another date when the ‘Gods departured’ -> 10,481 BCE
    • Accoding to Bashar, around 10,800 BCE A comet entered our solar system and took up an eccentric orbit that crossed the path of Earth’s orbit twice every year and for a period of time rained down upon the Earth.

Update 10

In Earth’s past the human race has received conflicting signals from the gods. There were times (some of which are recorded in the Sumerian texts, such as the great flood) when humans were abandoned and left to die on the planet while the gods they trusted left in their spaceships. During these times some gods “illegally” rescued chosen humans. This has created an emotional encoding within the human species during times of crisis.

Update 11: ETs arrived and began to teach

In the ancient days, when ETs arrived and began to teach, these were your first spiritual teachings. We had to remember that humanity was young. Intellectually, humans were not as developed as you are now, and you were just beginning your spiritual level of development in these bodies. The teachings were still holographic in nature, but they were much more simplistic. Then something interesting happened.

Your ET teachers delivered the teachings, and then they left. You spent many thousands of years on your own. This is a very crucial time for any species because of what happens to the accuracy of those teachings after the teachers leave.

When your Galactic Family left, they usually left behind beings who played roles similar to priests or priestesses. These priests and priestesses encouraged humanity to remember the teachings. But as humanity moved deeper and deeper into separation and the anchor of the ego got heavier and heavier, the accuracy of the teachings diminished. They begin distorting.

Egos got more involved, and you started to form religions that became manmade spirituality. You know what happened after that. Wars began over whose belief about God was right.

You forgot that the source of all teachings was the same no matter the religion.

This was very typical for third-density species.

Your species then went through a long period of separation and forgetfulness.

Teachers and priests began to distort the teachings unintentionally, and these distortions grew exponentially.

The Golden Lake

The ancient humans who were the first recipients of the teachings from the School of the Nine Serpents eventually became the original priests and priestesses. Many of them were human-Sirian or human-Pleiadian hybrids, which meant their lives spanned about 800 to 1,000 years. This longevity was important for the teachings to be consistent and focused as they were passed down to future generations in an efficient and continuous way. As we mentioned, your Galactic Family left the planet for a time. Then it was the responsibility of these hybrid priests and priestesses to pass the teachings to humans. As time went by and the ETs did not return, the gene pool began to dilute. Their life spans shortened. With shorter life spans and the sense of loss that came from the departure of their ET mentors, the continuity of the teachings became more difficult to maintain. As the planet entered a 13,000-year cycle of masculine energy and disintegration, it became difficult to maintain and remember the true essence of the teachings. Sometimes they were misunderstood and turned into religions.

Update 12: separate human colonies, governed over by competing elohim

In II Kings we have the scenario of separate human colonies, governed over by competing elohim. The text reveals a bitter rivalry between Yahweh and the neighboring Elohim of Ekron. Indeed, it is Yahweh who refers to himself and his neighbour both as elohim.

The Powerful Ones of the Biblical narratives are often associated with geographical jurisdictions. For instance we hear about Akhekh the Powerful One of Egypt. There is the El of the Amorites, and the elohim of your ancestors when they lived in Mesopotamia. These are referenced in Joshua’s “Whom shall you serve” speech in Joshua 24. We have the El of Ekron in the book of II Kings. Similarly, there is a moment in the book of Daniel when a mysterious messenger appears up in Daniel’s apartment and tells him, “I had a terrible time getting here because I had to go into battle with the Powerful One of Persia.”

Each of these powerful ones is associated with their own geographical area and it is understood that the powerful one who owns land also owns the human beings who live on it. This is an interesting idea because it is a polity which has been repeated around the world and throughout human history, the idea that if you own the land, if you are the King, or the Lord, or the Squire, then you own the people who live on that land. You can raise taxes from them, charge them rents, receive their tithes, deploy them in your armies, deprive them of liberty or execute them through your courts. This philosophy survived into the Middle Ages in Europe. It persisted in the polity of British, Spanish, French and Dutch Empires, and still survives to this day. The philosophy has its roots in the mentality of non-human governance over our ancestors.
