The Alta
When the Intergalactic Council met to consider a Fifth Phase of the Atlantean experiment, they settled upon a very different structure with much greater supervision and control. Working through twelve advanced Beings (collectively called the Alta) they set up the new Atlantis in twelve regions. Each region was governed by a High Priest or Priestess who was one of the Alta with sweeping powers and the backing of an effective administrative structure.
Atlantis and the new consciousness
The Temple of Poseidon contained the Great Initiation Chamber, where the Initiates were profoundly tested. To fail an initiation at this level could cause the soul to regress by hundreds of lifetimes.
All the great beings who aspired to become High Priests and Priestesses had to undergo initiations in this chamber before they became part of the Alta.
They were regularly challenged and even chose to face trials as a means of purifying themselves. Ultimately, the Intergalactic Council decided whether or not an applicant was formally accepted.
Those who aspired to become one of the Alta were highlyevolved beings, graduates of many of the most illustrious training establishments in the universes.
For this experience, in addition to the formidable initiations they undertook before they were considered for this post, they were subject to a human body and all its trials and tests. The main reason for having a body was so that they could feel empathy with the populace, and could understand the problems and limitations of living in physical form.
Because of the Veil of Amnesia, the people who were incarnate in Atlantis were unconscious that they were participating in a divine experiment. The Alta, on the other hand, were aware, and this higher perspective allowed them to deal with matters, as they arose, with objectivity and wisdom.

The High Priests and Priestesses did not accept partners because all their energy was needed for their mighty tasks.
There were twelve rulers: the Priest Kings and Queens, known as the Alta. They spent most of their time in the Temple, but they did have a residence within their home cities, rather like our politicians.
They maintained intergalactic contact, reporting on the progress of the Atlantis experiment to the Great Council and taking decisions with them about the future. One of their tasks was to keep the portal of the Great Crystal pure and protected. It was the High Priests and Priestesses who adjusted the levels and frequencies of the great biodome over the continent. They could not do these things individually, so they had to work in harmony and took collective decisions.
The Alta poured high-frequency light onto the populace on special occasions to keep the vibration of the people pure and they occasionally presided over important ceremonies, including those for the promotion of different levels of priests and to welcome the seasons.
The great High Priest, Thoth, channelled the Seven Spiritual Laws for Atlantis and a great many subsidiary laws. These were later simplified by Jesus into thirty-three spiritual laws, with three transcendent laws.
The High Priests and Priestesses were each responsible for their own tribes and managed them differently according to their individual energies.
The Intergalactic Council originally decided to form twelve tribes so that it would give them multiple chances to get the experiment right.

Amongst the first 84,000 volunteers for Atlantis were those who carried the necessary skills and qualities to act as priests and priestesses. The twelve rulers, the Alta, picked out those who were naturally inclined to this role. Then they actively encouraged them to develop their gifts. All levels of the priesthood were the guardians of spirituality within Atlantis.

In the priesthood, different coloured garments were worn depending on their level. Novices were dressed in pale green, Adepts in pale blue and Initiates in white robes. The Magi, who were incredibly highly trained shamans, and alchemists were attired in red-orange. The plain voluminous robes of the rulers were dark blue. There was no ego involved in this for no one was considered better than another. The only reason they wore different colours was for identification.

During the Golden Age many great beings came to Earth to experience physical incarnation and undergo the training to become Initiates or High Priests and Priestesses.
Of the latter, there were always twelve at any given time. As Atlantis evolved, suitable beings who had the knowledge, wisdom and experience appropriate to command the experiment at that time were invited to take on this role.
Among them were Hercules, Pallas Athena, who was a High Priestess in the Temple of Truth, and Lady Portia, known as the Goddess of Justice.
These Wise Ones had powers and abilities almost beyond our comprehension.
Take, for example, Thoth, one of the first High Priests. He was aware that our planet had, in ancient times, collided with another planet and when they finally separated Earth had taken all the minerals of both. This means that we are extremely rich in metals and minerals.
Molten metal within the Earth generates a current that produces a magnetic field. Using his powers, Thoth channelled this force into straight lines to create an energy grid around the planet. It was much easier for people to travel in the air above these power lines and they used them as aerial roadways.

Of the twelve High Priests or Priestesses, six were connected to the energy that would later become Greece and in due course became Greek Gods, and the remaining six were connected with the future Egypt and later were revered as Egyptian Gods.
Those who were there at the beginning and end of this phase of Atlantis were Thoth, Isis, Horus, Ra, Sett and Imhotep. They were connected to Egypt. Hermes, Zeus, Aphrodite, Apollo, Poseidon and Hera were linked to Greece. Where they took their tribes, and the wisdom they carried with them, are discussed in a later chapter.
