Chapter 1: Teaser

Lars Muhl: If people really could understand that this life of theirs is just a tiny, tiny speck of their eternal life, we wouldn’t worry so much about everything, you know, and we wouldn’t be scared of this or that.

Interviewer: Lars, it’s an honor being here with you. Welcome to Wisdom From North. Thank you.

I want to start with how it all started for you — your spiritual journey. Because as a musician, you delved into this esoteric material and you seem unstoppable with it. I’m wondering where it came from.

I understood that you had a difficult childhood because you were able to perceive things that others didn’t. You saw reality in a completely different way. Can you explain what it was like being a child for you?

Lars Muhl: I didn’t have anything to compare it with, so to me it was just how it was. In the beginning I thought this was reality for everybody, but soon I discovered that wasn’t the case.

Of course you get lonely in a certain way, because you have something you cannot share with everybody. For me, everything really exploded after my little sister died — I was ten and she was six. That was such a huge shock. Retrospectively, I can see that it opened me up on a level I wasn’t prepared for — something that was supposed to happen to a much older person, maybe an adult.

If you walk a spiritual path, you usually evolve naturally, step by step, with no great shock. But for me the veil was suddenly lifted. That was what I had to cope with. It made me a very lonely person. I spent a lot of time on my own and I couldn’t follow school. I just never turned up.

Interviewer: You dropped out of school?

Lars Muhl: Yeah, more or less. Because my sister had died, they thought that was why I didn’t come, and they didn’t know how to cope with it. I think they were almost relieved that they didn’t have to deal with me.

Interviewer: In what way did you perceive reality? Could you read people’s minds? Did you see things around them?

Lars Muhl: More or less. I picked up their emotions. I could feel when people were not honest — and that was the most common thing. People thought one thing, said another, and did something completely different. There was no alignment between what they felt, thought, said, and did. That was really scary. It made me very uncertain about many things.

When we’re children we watch Walt Disney and assume that when people smile they are happy. But when someone is smiling and you can feel they are sad, you start wondering: Why are they smiling when they feel sad? Why are they saying this when they really feel something else? That was something I had to learn to cope with.

By the time I was fifteen I was in a really bad state. Then one day a little book arrived in the post anonymously. I still don’t know who sent it.

Interviewer: That’s amazing. Someone sent you a book and you still don’t know who it was?

Chapter 3: The Book That Saved Lars’ Life

Lars Muhl: I think these things happen when we really need them. When you’re in a bad place and you have something you’re here to do, help arrives. Everybody receives help all the time — we just don’t always acknowledge it.

The book was by the Sufi master Hazrat Inayat Khan. It really saved my life. I opened it at random and the first thing I read was something like: “If you will approach us, we will bow down and lift you up.” To me it felt like the angels were inviting me to rise upwards instead of continuing to slide downwards. That was the real beginning.

I started reading everything I could get my hands on. In 1964 there weren’t many spiritual books available — at least not openly. Many were still secret books for the initiated. Today you can find almost anything in a library if you know what to look for. I also taught myself English by reading English books without knowing the language beforehand.

Interviewer: But you started as a musician, and then you had three very difficult years of illness.

Lars Muhl: Yes, that came much later — in 1995. I was living on an island just outside here in the fjord when I was suddenly struck by this illness. I lay in bed for three years. That period became my great initiation.

In the beginning I didn’t understand why I was lying there. Every day I prayed to God: “Tell me what I’ve done wrong so I can make it up to you. If you get me out of this, I’ll be the best boy in the world — I’ll never smoke, never drink, never go with girls, never do anything wrong again.” Nothing happened.

After three years, one day grace suddenly entered the picture. I received an inner option: “If you are lying here in so much pain, why don’t you take upon yourself the pain of the world — the pain of other people? Then you won’t be lying here in vain. There will be a purpose.”

I said yes. The moment I agreed, the pain disappeared. A week later I was connected to the Seer.

Chapter 4 & 5: The Great Initiation & The Last Chance

Lars Muhl: I believe that when we go through illness, pain or hard times and we can find a purpose in it, it becomes a gift from heaven. I think that’s part of what Jesus wanted to show us — not that he took away our sins in some external way, but that if you understand there is a reason for your pain, you can be translated. We are here to be translated from the physical to the spiritual. This body is only temporary. When our time is up we leave it behind and continue our journey.

If people could truly understand that this life is just a tiny speck of their eternal existence, we wouldn’t worry so much and we wouldn’t be so afraid. Every second someone is leaving this place. The only thing we can know for sure is that we too will have to leave. That changes everything when you start living with that awareness.

Interviewer: Was it a voice you heard, or just a knowing?

Lars Muhl: It was a knowing. It simply made itself known: “Here is your option. This is your last chance.” When we are sick or in pain we become so self-centered — so identified with the ego — that we don’t see or hear the help that is always around us. This felt like the final offer. I was prepared to take the pain of the world upon myself forever. The moment I said yes, the pain stopped. A week later the Seer arrived.

That was me saying yes to the next step. If you don’t say yes to the next step, it won’t happen — you just stay stuck. It also taught me about surrender. There is something magical that happens when you let go of control and surrender.

Chapter 6 & 7: Meeting The Seer

Interviewer: I want to hear about the Seer — the man who came into your life and changed everything.

Lars Muhl: Someone told me to call him. After a few calls he answered and asked what he could do for me. I said I wanted an appointment in his office. He replied, “No way — we have almost a year’s waiting list.” I said, “Then I’ll die. You have to help me.” I told him everything that was wrong with me. He said, “Hang up.” One minute later he called back: “Okay, you’ll see me in half a year. Until then everything will be all right. Bye.”

From that moment I began to come back to life, slowly, day by day. Many strange things happened — I even gave up smoking after trying for years without success.

Interviewer: Who was this man? Was he well known? A healer? An angel? Someone born with special abilities?

Lars Muhl: He was born with those abilities, but he was just a man like you and me. We were meant to meet. He helped me enormously, and I also helped him. We became very close — almost like father and son — and we remained close friends until he died in 2007. We spoke every day.

The funny thing is that he was born in the same street as me, just at the other end. Pure synchronicity. He was a true cosmopolitan who worked all over Europe and had clients all over the world. He lived in southern Spain, in Andalusia. We worked together a lot in France and Spain.

Chapter 8 & 9: The O Manuscript & The Secret Part of Christianity

Interviewer: And then you wrote The O Manuscript.

Lars Muhl: Yes. I felt it was always meant to happen. The Seer had been my apprenticeship in a way. After that, the books about Mary Magdalene and the Grail were written under the most difficult circumstances — I had just gotten divorced and was living in a car. I never thought they would become proper books.

Even today, when I open those books at random, I sometimes wonder where certain passages came from. I don’t remember writing them. Something came through me — not channeling in the usual sense, but something similar.

Interviewer: You’ve written a lot about Mary Magdalene, Jesus and that time, and gone deep into metaphysics. Why this strong interest in Christianity — or is it more the esoteric, mystical side?

Lars Muhl: There is a secret, hidden part to it. I began working with Mary Magdalene already in the 1980s, long before The Da Vinci Code. The real turning point came when I started learning Aramaic. Aramaic is the key to understanding Jesus and Mary Magdalene.

It’s hard to describe what Aramaic does. Compared to it, most spiritual literature sounds like marketplace noise. Approaching Aramaic in an esoteric and mystical way is one of the deepest spiritual paths you can walk. Every day since I began in 1988 it has been like a flower continuously opening more petals. It has given me both simple and profoundly deep understanding.

Aramaic is a psychological and feminine language compared to Latin. One word can have up to ten different — even contradictory — meanings, and you have to hold them all at once. That’s very difficult for Western minds. It’s also why translating Jesus’ words into Greek was so problematic — the Greek language simply didn’t have the capacity to carry the full meaning.

Chapter 10, 11 & 12: The Mystery Schools, Education of Mary and Jesus & The Nature of Satan

Interviewer: Can you tell us about the mystery schools? I’ve understood that both Mary and Jesus attended them and learned about the mysteries of the universe, astrology and so on.

Lars Muhl: Of course they did. If you strip away the theology of the churches — which often stands in the way of the real truth — you see clearly.

Jesus was educated by the Essenes at the Dead Sea. Mary Magdalene was educated by the Therapeutae just outside Alexandria in Egypt. That was a mystery school where men and women studied on equal footing. They learned astrology, astronomy, the properties of stones and crystals, healing on all levels — physical, psychological and spiritual. It was a truly holistic education.

We need to return to that kind of understanding: Who are we? Where do we come from? What are we doing here? Where are we going? Modern doctors usually can’t answer these questions.

These schools were different from those attended by Aristotle and Pythagoras. They were deeply spiritual. They knew that everything — even stones, sand and trees — is spirit.

Interviewer: Jesus went into the desert for forty days and confronted his ego. I found it fascinating that in Aramaic the word “Satan” means ego.

Lars Muhl: Yes — the adversary, our own inner mischief. Everything you struggle with inside yourself is Satan. Satan is the ego, the small self. Jesus had to meet his own ego as part of his training. Everyone has to do this work.

Many people in New Age circles want to float among angels and pink clouds listening to spiritual music, but a true spiritual path requires grounding. We are here in a physical body for a reason — to develop heaven on earth. You can’t do that from up in the clouds.

Chapter 13 & 14: The Real Message of Mary and Jesus & The Divine Feminine

Interviewer: You’ve said that Mary and Jesus were probably married, but that’s not the most important part. What they represent has been misunderstood. Can you explain?

Lars Muhl: Even today in Orthodox Judaism, every Sabbath the rabbi tells married couples to go into the bridal chamber and unite in love. When they do so, they manifest the Shekhinah — the feminine aspect of God. The sexual union in the bridal chamber has a spiritual dimension we have almost completely forgotten.

Without understanding Aramaic, we miss what Jesus is actually talking about in the New Testament regarding eros and the sacred union between man and woman. It is a spiritual path that a man and a woman can only walk together. They must meet on equal footing and with deep respect — even when they don’t fully understand each other. They are like yin and yang, sun and moon. Without the other, each is only half.

That is what Mary Magdalene and Jesus represent: the possibility of this sacred union. We are only beginning to understand it again.

Interviewer: How can we make way for the new Divine Feminine? Mary seems to have been removed from the Bible. Pope Gregory apparently decided around 500 AD that the different Marys were the same person and that she was a prostitute.

Lars Muhl: That idea came from a misunderstanding of Aramaic. The word translated as “prostitute” actually meant “Moon Priestess.” That was exactly what Mary Magdalene was trained to be. “Magdalene” was her initiation name — Mary Miriam, the Exalted One. She stood on the highest level. Only someone on equal footing with Jesus would have been permitted to anoint him with the holy oil. And Jesus said that what she did would be remembered forever.

So they were equals. She was not a fallen woman — she was the Exalted One.

Interviewer: How can we embrace the Divine Feminine today? What is feminine energy to you?

Lars Muhl: The new feminine is not about the feminine rising and the masculine disappearing. It is about the equal respect and union of both. The modern woman is increasingly able to combine clear masculine thought with compassionate feminine heart — exactly what happens in the sacred bridal chamber. That, to me, is the new feminine.

Chapter 15: The Purpose of Life

Interviewer: What do you think is happening in the world right now? Are we in a spiritual and conscious shift?

Lars Muhl: We have always been in a shift. Earth is a school of one step after another. Unfortunately most people are not aware of it. They just try to get as much as they can for themselves.

Slowly, more and more people are realizing we are here together. Your luck is also my luck; your misfortune is also a little bit mine. Some souls are meant to stand in the spotlight; others are meant to do quiet, invisible work. We tend to look at others instead of asking ourselves what we are here to do.

Interviewer: Do you believe each soul has a destiny and a purpose?

Lars Muhl: Yes. If you can be at peace with what you are here to do, everything opens up. You will never lack what you need. The moment you understand why you are here, what you need comes to you. You stop being afraid of losing things.

The New Testament says that the person who doesn’t understand this will lose even the little they have. But if you surrender to your purpose, you receive exactly what you need at the right time.

Finding your purpose often requires going through pain and difficulty, but you can also simply ask: What do I really want to do? What am I good at? Many people are blocked by society’s crazy norms and expectations. It’s much better to ask: Where can I give the most?

Interviewer: Where do you think we are going? What is the purpose of us being here? Are we all connected and moving toward becoming spiritual beings?

Lars Muhl: We are all connected, but we are not “just one.” There are many levels — “in my Father’s house are many mansions.” There are planes of cleansing, both on Earth and in other dimensions. Some souls here have very specific and difficult tasks. It can be frightening to talk about openly, but on the overall level we are here to help each other and make this a better place.

Interviewer: Thank you so much. Is there anything you want to say in closing? I notice you’re wearing a beautiful Jerusalem Cross.

Lars Muhl: It’s something I bought many, many years ago and it has been with me ever since.
