Placing the Sons of Noah on the Y Chromosome Tree

Rob discusses his evolving perspective on interpreting the Y chromosome tree in relation to Noah’s sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Single Ancestral Lineage: Shem, Ham, and Japheth might have shared an identical Y chromosome, with mutations only occurring post-Babel.

Two or Three Lineages: Shem, Ham, and Japheth might each represent separate Y chromosome lineages, possibly diverging due to mutations from Noah's spermatogonial lines.

Rob summarizes the complex factors—such as radiation exposure, environmental changes, and Patriarchal Drive—that challenge efforts to trace the Y chromosome lineages back to Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Flood Stories from Around the World

His son Ham saw him lying naked in his tent and told his brothers Shem and Japheth, who came and covered Noah with their faces turned.

Noah wept at the devastation when he left the ark, and Shem offered a thank-offering; Noah could not officiate due to his encounter with the lion.

Moses said the post-Flood Nephilim came from other Nephilim

Shem and Japheth's lineages, with Shem leading to Jesus, do not contain giants.

In contrast, obedience to God could alter these genetic outcomes, resulting in the preservation of a righteous lineage, as seen in Shem’s descendants.

The preservation of uncorrupted genetics in righteous individuals like Shem would result in a pure lineage, culminating in the birth of Jesus.

Canaanites

26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

In the context of Genesis 9:25, Canaan is depicted as being destined to be a "servant of servants" to his uncles, Shem and Japheth, and their descendants.

This is part of the curse Noah pronounces on Canaan after Noah's son Ham, who is Canaan's father, sees Noah naked and tells his brothers, Shem and Japheth, who then cover their father without looking at him.

In this view, Shem and Japheth, and their descendants, would be in a higher position of servitude, while Canaan and his descendants would be at the lowest level.

Now the question is who are Shem and Japheth serving?

Genesis 10

Noah’s offspring

This is the biblical genealogy according to the Book of Genesis in the Hebrew Bible, which outlines the descendants of Noah's three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth after the Flood.

Shem is traditionally considered the ancestor of the Semitic peoples, which include the Jews, Arabs, and others.

The phrase "lived during the division of the Earth" refers to an event described in the Bible, specifically in Genesis 10:25, associated with Peleg, one of the descendants of Shem.

[1] Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.[2] The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.[3] And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.[4] And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.[5] By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.[6] And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.[7] And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.[8] And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.[9] He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.[10] And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.[11] Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,[12] And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.[13] And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,[14] And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.[15] And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,[16] And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,[17] And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,[18] And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.[19] And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.[20] These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.[21] Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.[22] The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.[23] And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.[24] And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.[25] And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.[26] And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazar-maveth, and Jerah,[27] And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,[28] And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,[29] And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.[30] And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.[31] These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.[32] These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

Genesis 9

The everlasting covenant

[1] And GOD Anu blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.[2] And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.[3] Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.[4] But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.[5] And surely your blood bloodline of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man altered humans; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man altered humans.[6] Whoso sheddeth shed man altered humans's blood, by man altered humans shall his blood be shed: for in the image of GOD Anu made he man altered humans.[7] And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.[8] And GOD Anu spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,[9] And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;[10] And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.[11] And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.[12] And GOD Anu said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:[13] I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.[14] And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:[15] And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.[16] And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between GOD Anu and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.[17] And GOD Anu said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.[18] And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.[19] These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.[20] And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:[21] And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.[22] And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren brothers without.[23] And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.[24] And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.[25] And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren brothers.

[26] And he said, Blessed be the LORD God The altered descendant of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.[27] God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.[28] And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty 350 years.[29] And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty 955 years: and he died.

Assuming that the Aessir mixed with the humans, then it's a son of Shem who is next in line.

According to the Bible, Shem, one of Noah's three sons, had several sons and became the ancestor of various peoples.

In the Book of Genesis, Shem's descendants are listed in Genesis 10:21-31.

Shem's sons were:

Shem's line is significant in the biblical narrative because it leads to the establishment of the Israelites and the covenant with God through figures like Abraham and his descendants.

Genesis 7

Noah and The flood

[1] And the LORD Enlil said unto Noah, Come thou you and all thy your house into the ark; for thee you have I seen righteous before me in this generation bloodline.[2] Of every clean beast thou you shalt take to thee you by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.[3] Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.[4] For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty 40 days and forty 40 nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.[5] And Noah did according unto all that the the LORD Enlil commanded him.[6] And Noah was six hundred 600 years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.[7] And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.[8] Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,[9] There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as GOD Anu had commanded Noah.[10] And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.[11] In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month (77 days?), the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the the windows of heaven portals were opened.[12] And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.[13] In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;[14] They, and every original beast after his kind, and all the pure/original cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.[15] And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.[16] And they that went in, went in male and female of all pure flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.[17] And the flood was forty 40 days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.[18] And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.[19] And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.[20] Fifteen cubits 6.75 meters upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

Genesis 6

Age limit to 120 years

[10] And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.[11] The earth also was corrupt before God Anu, and the earth was filled with violence.[12] And God Anu looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.[13] And God Anu said unto Noah, The end of all flesh altered life is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.[14] Make thee you an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.[15] And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits 135 meters, the breadth of it fifty cubits 22.5 meters, and the height of it thirty cubits 13.5 meters.[16] A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.[17] And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh altered life, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing altered thing that is in the earth shall die.[18] But with thee you will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy your sons, and thy your wife, and thy your sons' wives with thee you.[19] And of every living thing of all original flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee you; they shall be male and female.[20] Of fowls after their kind original fowls, and of cattle after their kind original cattle, of every original creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.[21] And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.[22] Thus did Noah; according to all that God Anu commanded him, so did he.
