Charles Webster Leadbeater (1854 to 1934) was an English writer on occult subjects. He began as a priest in the Church of England. He left Anglicanism for the Theosophical Society, a spiritual movement founded in 1875.
He became one of its leading members and a close associate of Annie Besant. With James Wedgwood he started the Liberal Catholic Church. He wrote more than 60 books and pamphlets.
In 1913 he and Besant published Man: Whence, How and Whither. They say the book is based on clairvoyant research, meaning knowledge gained through psychic vision. It describes early human races, Atlantis and past lives.
On this site he also appears in Atlanteans and Human Migrations. A separate post, Bishop Leadbeater, is also on the site.
