Black magic is the reason many of my sources give for the fall of Atlantis. Theosophists, channeled books and later esoteric writers all describe a people who turned their psychic and occult powers to selfish ends. These are the pages where I wrote about it.
The Theosophical account
Helena Blavatsky reads the Atlantean fall as black magic followed by war and submersion. I quote her on What Are Blavatsky’s Root Races?:
In consequence of this [black magic], war was declared, the story of which would be too long to narrate; its substance may be found in the disfigured allegories of the race of Cain, the giants, and that of Noah and his righteous family. The conflict came to an end by the submersion of the Atlantis; which finds its imitation in the stories of the Babylonian and Mosaic flood.

Arthur E. Powell, on The Solar System – Atlantis, notes four major catastrophes that destroyed Atlantis due to black magic and moral decline, and describes how the misuse of psychic faculties and science for selfish ends, which he calls sorcery, spread among the Atlanteans. Annie Besant wrote Man: Whence, How and Whither (1913) with C. W. Leadbeater, a book with a chapter called “Black Magic in Atlantis”.
A Dweller on Two Planets
In Frederick S. Oliver’s book, the ruler of Suern, Rai Emon, explains why his people trouble him, on The vailx, powered by currents derived from the Night-Side of Nature:
Wherefore they are a brood of sorcerers, and do not work white magic, which is beneficent, but black magic, which is sorcery. It shall work them exceeding woe.

Later writers
Vladimir Antonov, as I summarise him on The Fall of Atlantis: misuse of power and abuse of advanced technologies, says the spiritual culture of Atlantis degraded until power was taken over by aggressive people who preferred black magic and domination over true spiritual development. Samael Aun Weor writes on Descendants of Atlantis that the Turanians were also survivors of Atlantis, dedicated to black magic; they reached Tibet, migrated to ancient Persia and were finally destroyed. In my overview of Edgard Armond’s Os Exilados da Capela on Spirits from a planet orbiting the star Capella were exiled to Earth in ancient times, the Atlanteans developed psychic abilities and practised both white and black magic. Misuse of the crystals follows the same theme of power turned to the wrong ends.
