Paul Wallis put a short claim in front of me that I could not put down.

The earliest Hebrew script has no vowels. Look again at Abraham and Brahma. In consonants the names look the same: BRHM. Sarah and Saraswati look almost the same too. The second half of Saraswati, he says, means “beautiful”. So Saraswati would mean “Beautiful Sara”.

Those lines come from Paul Wallis, The Invasion of Eden. I treat the wider claim as his reading.

Do the consonants really match? Does the Sanskrit gloss hold? And what do later books like Oahspe and the Aquarian Gospel do with Abraham and Brahma?

I already wrote about Abraham as a Faithist leader on God led Abraham to the ancient land of Ham. That page covers Oahspe’s He-sa, the land of Ham, and the rename to Abra-Ham. Brahma as creator in Hinduism sits on Principal deities of Hinduism, with Saraswati as his consort. The Trimurti of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva also appears in The holy trinities. Oahspe itself is on The Oahspe Bible, with the cycle table on Timeline of the Oahspe Bible. The full Abram and Brahma narratives live in the First Book of God. The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus Christ is on this site in full, and Chapter 10 is where it joins Brahm and A-Brahm by name.

The Wallis snippet

Here is the passage, quoted in full:

Keep in mind that the earliest Hebrew script has no vowels in it, and then take another look at the similarity of the names Abraham and Brahma. In terms of consonants the names are identical: BRHM. In the case of Sarah and Saraswati, the word part -swati is a descriptor which means beautiful. Saraswati means Beautiful Sara. The names themselves are virtually identical: Sarah and Sara. (In English they are alternative spellings of the same name!)

Paul Wallis, The Invasion of Eden

His wider reading is that the biblical and Hindu pairs preserve the same older story under different scripts. That wider claim stays his. The letters themselves are what I test next.

Hebrew without vowels

Early Hebrew and other Northwest Semitic scripts were written as consonants. Readers supplied the vowels from memory and context. The vowel points you see in a printed Hebrew Bible came much later.

So when Wallis strips the vowels, he is doing what the oldest manuscripts already force you to do. You look at the skeleton of the name.

Abraham: ABRHM, not only BRHM

Strong’s H85 gives Abraham as אַבְרָהָם. Strip the later vowel points and the consonants are:

  • aleph (א)
  • bet (ב)
  • resh (ר)
  • he (ה)
  • mem (מ)

That is ABRHM, five consonants. The traditional gloss is “father of a multitude”, from ab (“father”) plus a second root.

His earlier name, Abram, is אַבְרָם: aleph, bet, resh, mem. That is ABRM. Genesis 17:5 is where the he is added and the name becomes Abraham.

Sanskrit Brahma (ब्रह्मा) starts with ba, ra, ha, and ma. In Latin letters that is BRHM. There is no leading aleph.

So Wallis’s BRHM match is real for the shared core: B-R-H-M. It is not a full identity. Abraham carries an extra leading aleph that Brahma does not have. If you drop that aleph, as his reading does, the remaining letters line up. If you keep every Hebrew consonant, they do not. The echo is strong. The match is not letter-perfect.

Sarah and Saraswati

Strong’s H8283 gives Sarah as שָׂרָה: sin (שׂ), resh, he. That is SRH. The usual meaning is “princess”. Her earlier name, Sarai, is sin, resh, yod.

Saraswati in Sanskrit is usually analysed as saras (“lake”, “pond”, or flowing water) plus -vatī (“she who has”). Standard dictionaries therefore gloss her as “she who has lakes” or “she who possesses flowing water”. She is the river goddess who later becomes the goddess of speech, music and learning, and the consort of Brahma.

Wallis’s claim that -swati means “beautiful”, so that Saraswati means “Beautiful Sara”, is not the standard Sanskrit etymology. That gloss stays his. The names still rhyme at the front: Sara, Sarah and Saras. That rhyme is enough for a paleo-contact comparison without forcing the gloss. By paleo-contact I mean the reading that older gods and lawgivers were real beings in contact with early humans.

The Aquarian Gospel: A-Brahm

The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ was published in 1908 by Levi H. Dowling. It is a channeled gospel, not a Hebrew manuscript. It is in the public domain. The full text is on this site at The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In Chapter 10, Elihu teaches Mary and Elizabeth in Egypt. He says the people of the East once worshipped God the One under the name Brahm:

In ancient times a people in the East were worshippers of God, the One, whom they called Brahm.

Aquarian Gospel 10:1

Then he makes the name link that Wallis also hears. Terah of Ur is a Brahm. His son is so devoted that he is called A-Brahm:

And in Chaldea, Brahm was known. A pious Brahm named Terah lived in Ur; his son was so devoted to the Brahmic faith that he was called A-Brahm; and he was set apart to be the father of the Hebrew race.

Aquarian Gospel 10:6

That is the same consonant move in narrative form. Brahm plus a leading A becomes A-Brahm. The book then walks Abram to Haran, Canaan, Egypt and Mamre in the usual Genesis outline (10:7–14).

Later, when Jesus is in India, the Aquarian Gospel puts him among Brahmic priests at the temple of Jagannath, then in Benares with the healer Udraka (Chapters 21–24 and nearby). Those chapters argue with caste and sacrifice. They do not repeat the Abraham etymology. The A-Brahm claim stays in Chapter 10.

In Chapter 42 Jesus visits Ur. There the book names Abraham and Sarah together, without Saraswati:

Although so many years have passed since Abraham and Sarah walked these ways, a remnant of their kindred still abide in Ur.

Aquarian Gospel 42:7

So the Aquarian Gospel gives Wallis’s BRHM echo an explicit story. Abraham is A-Brahm, a man of the Brahmic faith from Ur. Sarah is present. Saraswati is not.

Oahspe: Abram and Brahma in the same cycle

Oahspe was published in 1882 by John Ballou Newbrough. It is in the public domain. On this site I treat it as one cosmogony among others, open to a paleo-contact reading.

In Oahspe, Abraham and Brahma are not one man with two names. They are two men raised up in the same heavenly cycle, on different continents, to gather the Faithists. A Faithist, in Oahspe’s language, is someone who keeps faith in the Creator alone, without idols.

The First Book of God opens by naming the four:

Po, of Jaffeth; Abram, of Arabin'ya; Brahma, of Vindyu, and Eawahtah, of Guatama, whose records are everlasting on the earth, which are testimony that these men were raised up by the Father for His Own glory, and for the deliverance of men.

First Book of God, Chapter I:4

Abram is of Parsi’e, later of Arabin’ya (Oahspe’s name for Arabia and the Near East). Brahma is of Vind’yu (Oahspe’s India). Po is in Jaffeth (China). Eawahtah is in Guatama (the Americas). Four messengers. One cycle.

God then warns the reader not to treat any of them as the inventor of monotheism:

Let no man say: With Brahma, or with Abram, or with Po, or with Eawahtah, was the beginning of the doctrine of One Spirit. For since man walked upright on the earth, behold, I have said unto him: You should have but one God, even the Creator.

First Book of God, Chapter XIV:12

And he stresses that none of the four were idolised as gods in their own day:

But let all men understand who and what, is meant by the terms, Po, and Abram, and Brahma, and Eawahtah, which is, that though I walked the earth with these, teaching and speaking through them, yet none of these were idolized by men. For the nations of the earth, in the time of these four men, comprehended that they were not Gods, but men through whom, and to whom, I, even God, had spoken.

First Book of God, Chapter XIV:13

The cycle table in the Book of Knowledge puts them together as one reign:

who begat Osiris, the first, who reigned three thousand three hundred years; who begat Abraham and Brahma, who reigned two thousand four hundred years; who begat Moses and Capilya, who reigned three thousand four hundred years

Book of Knowledge (Oahspe)

So in Oahspe’s map, Abraham and Brahma are twins of an age, not twins of a passport. Later Moses and Capilya play the same paired role. The pattern is continental twins under one arc of light.

What Oahspe says Abraham did

God leads Abram from He-sa, where he made baskets among the Listians, into the old land of Ham. Then God renames him:

God led Abram away from He-sa, his native place, where he was a maker of baskets, and took him to the ancient land of Ham, which had been destroyed by druks, before the flood, as the name signify; whereafter God surnamed him Abraham, and made him chief rab'bah over the Faithists of Arabin'ya.

First Book of God, Chapter VIII:3

The name Abra-Ham, in Oahspe, is a record that no son of Ham had been raised for that work, so the messenger from Shem’s line carries Ham in his new name. That is Oahspe’s own folk etymology. It is not the same as the Bible’s “father of a multitude”. I keep both on the table.

Abraham gathers escaped slaves who turn out to be old Faithist stock. He refuses the lying spirit that asks for Isaac as a burnt offering. He teaches his people to test spirits by their fruit, not by signs. Sarai, later Sarah, is his wife. The story of Hagar and Ishmael appears, but Oahspe denies that Abraham was Ishmael’s father in the flesh. Ezra, it says, later copied hostile Egyptian records. That last claim is Oahspe’s. It is not in Genesis.

I give more of that Abraham material on God led Abraham to the ancient land of Ham.

What Oahspe says Brahma did

Brahma is born of I’hin seed into a Zarathustrian Faithist line in Vind’yu. He is called Brahma “because of his great wisdom”. He sees a star above his head from childhood. The voice names itself Ormazd, the same light that spoke to Zarathustra.

He is told to marry and raise seven sons, so the light can pass through heirs who are not celibate. He meets Yu-tiv at a confession gate. They marry. They have six sons in faith, then a seventh, Hog, conceived after Yu-tiv loses faith in a personal Creator. Hog cannot see or hear spirit. Oahspe uses that birth as a living lesson about how unbelief in the womb shapes the child.

When the voice returns, Brahma becomes an iesu in old age. An iesu in Oahspe is a purified vessel for the Creator’s word. Through him Ormazd condemns kings and priests who kept Zarathustra’s name but turned the law upside down: war for “defence”, tribute for the king, temples instead of faith. The Vedans and Brahmins of Oahspe are the Faithists gathered under that light.

Oahspe also has a later, false Brahma. The rebel angel Kabalactes steals the name and builds a false Brahmanism. I cover Kabalactes on False gods in Oahspe. The true Brahma of the First Book of God and the false Brahma of the wars against Jehovih are not the same figure. That matters when you compare names across books.

The paleo-contact reading

Put the pieces next to each other.

In Genesis, Abram leaves his country, receives a new name, walks with a speaking god, and founds a people through Sarah. In Hindu memory, Brahma is the creator whose consort is Saraswati. In Oahspe, Abram and Brahma are contemporaneous Faithist men on two continents, both speaking for one Creator, neither worshipped as that Creator in their own day.

Wallis hears BRHM under the vowels and hears Sara under Saraswati. The Aquarian Gospel turns that into A-Brahm, a Brahmic devotee from Ur. Oahspe hears two messengers under one arc. Through paleo-contact I hear managed contact: the same pattern of a speaking presence, a renamed man, a named woman, and a guarded bloodline or teaching line, told once in the Near East and once in India.

I do not claim the consonants prove that Abraham was Brahma. The leading aleph is still there. The Sanskrit gloss for -vatī is still “she who has”, not “beautiful”. Oahspe itself keeps them as two men. What I do claim is that the overlap is too neat to shrug off. Scripts without vowels, paired names, paired wives or consorts, and a nineteenth-century cosmogony that already treats them as twins of one cycle, all point at a shared older story told under local clothes.

Where the texts push back

Genesis never mentions India, Brahma or Saraswati. The Hindu Puranas never present Brahma as a migrant from Ur. Mainstream philology treats Abraham as a West Semitic name and Brahma as a Sanskrit formation from brahman (sacred utterance, the Absolute). Those are real objections.

Oahspe is a channeled book from 1882. The Aquarian Gospel is a channeled gospel from 1908. Either can preserve older memory. Either can invent rhyme. I do not pretend otherwise.

Wallis’s reading is a hypothesis, not a manuscript find. I use his consonants as a prompt, not as proof.

Conclusion

Strip the vowels from Abraham and you get ABRHM. Strip the vowels from Brahma and you get BRHM. Share the middle four letters and the names kiss. Keep the leading aleph and they do not fully match.

Sarah is SRH. Saraswati is “she who has flow”, by the dictionaries, and “Beautiful Sara” only in Wallis’s gloss. The front of the names still rhymes.

The Aquarian Gospel goes further than a consonant chart. It names Abraham as A-Brahm of the Brahmic faith. Oahspe goes further still. It puts Abram and Brahma on stage in the same act, with Po and Eawahtah beside them, and says none of them were gods. Together those two books bind the biblical patriarch to the Hindu creator name more tightly than the letters alone.

From here, read God led Abraham to the ancient land of Ham for Abraham’s Oahspe biography, Principal deities of Hinduism for Brahma and Saraswati in the Trimurti, the First Book of God for the twin narratives, and The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus Christ for Chapter 10.

FAQ

Are Abraham and Brahma the same person?

Not in Genesis, and not in Oahspe. Genesis never mentions Brahma. Oahspe presents Abram of Arabin’ya and Brahma of Vind’yu as two men raised in the same cycle. Wallis’s consonant reading asks whether the names preserve one older figure. That is a hypothesis, not a settled identity.

Do the Hebrew consonants of Abraham really equal Brahma?

They share B-R-H-M. Abraham also has a leading aleph, so the full skeleton is ABRHM. Drop the aleph and Wallis’s BRHM match holds. Keep every letter and it does not.

Does Saraswati mean “Beautiful Sara”?

Not in standard Sanskrit. Sarasvatī is usually “she who has lakes” or “she who possesses flowing water”, from saras + -vatī. Wallis reads -swati as “beautiful” and Saraswati as “Beautiful Sara”. I report his gloss as his, and the dictionary gloss as the mainstream one. The echo of Sara and Sarah at the front of the name remains.
