Blacket myth and an American Atlantis

Kurimeo Ahau reads three chapters of W. S. Blacket’s 1884 Researches into the Lost Histories of America, a book that treats the zodiac as a land map of an Atlantic island. America, he says, is the real ancient world, including the ages behind flood stories. Giants and a journey east across a vast sea are taken to mean America, and northern cold in the tale becomes the far north of that continent. The famous sinking was a blunder, on this telling. Calling the Atlantic land drowned buried the antiquities tied to it. He then reads Philo’s Phoenician fragments: fire from rubbed wood, brick, herbs, iron weapons for Kronos, and stones that move. Where the 1884 pages still sound as if people left Asia for America, he says the colonies ran the other way, from America toward Japan and China. Hyperion is set toward New Mexico, and Pandora is linked with a Mexican corn mother. Phoenician, Greek, and Roman cosmogonies, he concludes, remember those American beginnings.

Key points

  • The video is a reading of three chapters from W. S. Blacket’s 1884 Researches into the Lost Histories of America.
  • Kurimeo takes the book as support for his claim that America is the real ancient world.
  • Norse giant stories and an eastward sea crossing are read as journeys into America.
  • The sinking of Atlantis is treated as a mistake that buried American antiquity rather than a drowned continent.
  • Philo’s Phoenician fragments supply fire, brick, herbs, Kronos, and moving stones of Uranus.
  • He reverses colonial direction, from America toward Japan and China, and pins mythic figures onto Mexican ground.
