He kept the name Mu for a land destroyed by catastrophe and identified that land with Atlantis in the Atlantic.
Charles Étienne Brasseur de Bourbourg, in 1864, misread the Troano Codex (Madrid Codex) with the de Landa alphabet and took a glyph sequence as “Mu,” a land destroyed by catastrophe.
In Queen Móo and the Egyptian Sphinx (1896), Le Plongeon writes the Atlantic Mu into the same catastrophe story Plato records:
