Biblical

Lamech

Seth was born before Lamech.

Lamech, on the other hand, appears in two different genealogical lines in Genesis:

Lamech, the descendant of Cain: This Lamech is a sixth-generation descendant of Cain and is known for his boast about killing a young man and having multiple wives, Adah and Zillah.

Lamech, the descendant of Seth: This Lamech is a father of Noah and comes much later in the genealogy that starts with Seth.

Biblical

Irad

18 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.19 Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah.20 Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock.21 His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play stringed instruments and pipes.22 Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron.

Tubal-Cain’s sister was Naamah.23 Lamech said to his wives, “Adah and Zillah, listen to me; wives of Lamech, hear my words.

I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring me.24 If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times.”25 Adam made love to his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, “God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”26 Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh.

From 900 to 120 years

Human lifespan declines

Lamech, Methuselah’s son, lived for 777 years.

Noah, Lamech’s son, lived for 950 years.

Both lists end with a figure named Lamech (Heb.

The first Lamech had taken God’s assurance of sevenfold vengeance on anyone who kills Cain (4:15) and multiplied it by eleven for even a blow—that is, vengeance was no longer in God’s hands, and it was fiercer (4:23–24).

In 5:31 the second Lamech’s lifespan is 111 times seven years; in Hebrew, שׁבע שׁבעים שׁנה ושׁבע מאות שׁנה [sheba‘ shib‘im shanah usheba‘ me’ot shanah], “seven and seventy years and seven hundred years.” The 77 part comes first, in opposite order to that in 4:24.

The first Lamech speaks bluster and threat; the second Lamech speaks hope and faith.

[4] There were giants, in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God Assendence of Aesir came in unto the daughters of men human, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men human which were of old, men human of renown – Methuselah, Lamech, Adam, Seth..

The father of Noah, Lamech could symbolize a period of impending significant change, much like the biblical narrative of the Flood.

Columns 2-5 tell the story of the birth of Noah, using both third-person accounts, and first person language from the point of view of Lamech, Noah's father.

The text details an exasperated Lamech, who questions whether the child being borne by his wife, Bath-Enosh, is his own, or belongs to one of the Nephilim.

Genesis 7

Noah and The flood

Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spoke, and sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, and said to him: Go to Noah and tell him in my name "Hide thyself!" and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come upon the whole earth, and will destroy all that is on it.

Methuselah, Lamech, Adam, Seth..

[1] And it came to pass, when men human began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,[2] That the sons of God Assendence of Aessir saw the daughters of men human that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.[3] And the LORD Enlil said, My spirit appearance shall not always strive with man altered humans, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be limited to an hundred and twenty 120 years.[4] There were giants, Nemhir, in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God Assendence of Aessir came in unto the daughters of men human, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men human which were of old, men human of renown - Methuselah, Lamech, Adam, Seth..[5] And GOD Anu saw that the wickedness rebellion of man altered humans was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.[6] And it repented the LORD Enlil that he had made man altered humans on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.[7] And the LORD Enlil said, I will destroy man altered humans whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man altered humans, and altered beast, and the altered creeping thing, and the altered fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.[8] But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD Enki.[9] These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man altered human and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God Anu.

Lamech, Methuselah’s son, lived for 777 years.

Noah, Lamech’s son, lived for 950 years.

25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech

26 and Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:

28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:

30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:

Because if Cain can take vengeance sevenfold, then Lamech seventy sevenfold.
