The Mussulman tradition is, that Adam having eaten the bunch of grapes given him as a reward for having preached to the angels, fell asleep; and whilst he slept, God took from his left side a woman whom He called Hava, because she was extracted from one living (Hai), and He laid her beside Adam.

The inhabitants of Madagascar have a strange myth touching the origin of woman.

The Rabbi Samuel Ben-Nahaman held that the first man was created double, with a woman at his back, and that God cut them apart. "Adam," said other Rabbis, "had two faces and one tail, and from the beginning he was both male and female, male on one side, female on the other; but afterwards the parts were separated."

In Persia, Meschia and Meschiane, the first man and the first woman, were said to have formed originally but one body; but they were cut apart, and from this voluntary reunion all men are sprung.

The idea so prevalent that man without woman, or woman without man, is an imperfect being, was the cause of the great repugnance with which the Jews and other nations of the East regarded celibacy.

Pygmalion, says the classic story, which is really a Phœnician myth of creation, made woman of marble or ivory, and Aphrodite, in answer to his prayers, endowed the statue with life.

But Hesiod gives a widely different account of the creation of woman.

That Eve was Adam's second wife was a common Rabbinic speculation; certain of the commentators on Genesis having adopted this view to account for the double account of the creation of woman in the sacred text,—first in Genesis i.

They gave to Adam a wife, formed of clay, along with Adam, and called her Lilith; resting on the Scripture, 'male and female created He them:' but when this woman, on account of her simultaneous creation with him, became proud and a vexation to her husband, God expelled her from Paradise, and then said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.' 

And this they confirm by the words of Adam when he saw the woman fashioned from his rib, 'This is now bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh,' which is as much as to say, Now God has given me a wife and companion, suitable for me, taken from my bone and flesh, but the other wife he gave me was not of my bone and flesh, and therefore was not a suitable companion and wife for me.

Lilith is first mentioned in ancient Babylonian texts as a class of winged female demons that attack pregnant women and infants.

So the woman was not a stranger — she was literally part of the man’s own spiritual self, now in separate form.

Cayce is saying that men and women were originally one complete spiritual being.

The other three were Lilitu (Lilith), the she-demon; Ardat Lilli (or Lilith’s handmaid), who visited men at night and bore them ghostly children; and Irdu Lilli (apparently Ardat Lilli’s male counterpart), who would visit women at night and make them pregnant.

In these artifacts, Lilith is named and described as a demon who endangers infants and pregnant women.

The ancient Mexicans had a myth of Xolotl, making out of a man's bone the primeval mother in the heavenly Paradise; and he called the woman he had made Cihuacouhatl, which means "The woman with the serpent," or Quilatzli, which means "The woman of our flesh."

The godless Sammael had made an alliance with all the chiefs of his host against the Lord, because the holy and ever-blessed Lord had said to Adam and Eve, "Have dominion over the fish of the sea," and he said, "How can I make man to sin and drive him out?" Then Sammael called to the woman, and said, "See, I have touched the tree and am not dead.

They came to Adam, and when they saw Eve speaking with him, they said to one another, “What is this enlightened woman?

Rather, let us bring a stupor upon him, and suggest to him in his sleep that she came into being from his rib, so that the woman may serve and he may rule over her.”

And when they saw the likeness of that woman with him, they were troubled, thinking that this was the true Eve.

When the rulers saw him and the woman who was with him erring in ignorance like beasts, they rejoiced greatly.

When they learned that an immortal human was not going to pass them by, but that they would even have to fear the woman who had turned into a tree, they were troubled and said, “Is this, perhaps, the true human, who blinded us and taught us about this defiled woman who is like him, that we might be conquered?”

He said, “The woman whom you gave me, she is the one who gave to me, and I ate.” Then they said to that woman, “What is this you have done?” She answered and said, “The instructor is the one who incited me, and I ate.”

Afterward they came to the woman, and they cursed her and her offspring.

After the woman they cursed Adam and the earth and the fruit because of him.

Through this name, all generations look for the man and each one calls the woman by this name.

The sixth kingdom believes that he was born of a woman who became pregnant from the desire of flowers.

In a female guise, Iblis takes the form of a dark-skinned woman, garbed like a belly dancer, with yellow eyes and a third eye on her forehead, her body seemingly radiating flames.
