It is the evil yetzer of the nations of the world, whose souls are from the three unclean kelipot.
And for idle words that are permitted, for example an unlearned person who is not able to study, he needs to purify his nefesh (the lowest level of the soul) from this uncleanness of this kelipah by its being whirled in the hollow of the sling, as it is written in the Zohar, portion Beshalach, folio 59.
For he clothes and makes unclean only the traits that come from the holy element of wind in his nefesh elokit (the soul from God), with the uncleanness of kelipat nogah that is in idle words, which come from the evil element of wind in this kelipah, in his nefesh bahamit (the life-soul of the body), as above, and not the aspect of wisdom, understanding, and knowledge in his nefesh.
But the vital nefesh bahamit (the life-soul of the body) in a person of Israel, which is from the side of the kelipah (a husk that hides holiness) clothed in the person's blood, as mentioned above, and the souls of beasts, wild animals, birds, and fish that are clean and permitted for eating, and the lasting and the life of every lifeless thing and every plant that is permitted for eating, and likewise the lasting and the life of every act, speech, and thought in the matters of this world that have in them no side of a ban, neither a root nor a branch of the 365 mitzvot (commanded deeds) of "you shall not do" and their branches, whether from the Torah or from the rabbis, only that they are not for the sake of Heaven, but the will of the body, its wish, and its craving, and even if it is truly the need of the body, its lasting, and its life, but his aim is not for the sake of Heaven, so as to serve Hashem (God) with his body: these acts, speeches, and thoughts are no better than the vital nefesh bahamit itself.
Therefore his nefesh thirsted with a greater force than the thirst of the souls of the tzaddikim (a tzaddik is a righteous person), as in their saying, of blessed memory (Berakhot 34b): "In the place where those who have returned stand," and so on.
Now, "One opposite the other Elohim made." For just as the nefesh elokit (the soul from God) is made up of ten holy sefirot (divine channels) and clothes itself in three holy garments, so the nefesh of the sitra achra (the other side), from kelipat nogah (kelipah: a husk that hides holiness), which is clothed in the person's blood, is made up of ten crowns of uncleanness.
From them flow and are drawn the souls of all the nations of the world, and the lasting of their bodies, and the souls of all living beings that are unclean and forbidden for eating, and the lasting of their bodies, and the lasting and the life of every forbidden food from what grows, such as the barred fruit of a young tree and mixed growth in a vineyard, and so on, as it is written in Etz Chaim, Gate 49, Chapter 6.
For by means of all the mitzvot of speech and of deed, the Holy One, blessed be He, clothes the nefesh (the lowest level of the soul) and encircles it with the light of Hashem (God), from its head to its foot.
This is what is written (Psalms 40:9): "And Your Torah is within my inward parts." As it is written in Etz Chaim, Gate 44, Chapter 3, the garments of the souls in the Garden of Eden are the mitzvot, and the Torah is the food for the souls that engaged in this world in the Torah for its own sake, as it is written in the Zohar, Vayakhel, folio 210.
And further, every nefesh elokit (the soul from God) has three garments.
And behold, every aspect and every level of these three, nefesh (the lowest level of the soul), ruach, and neshamah, is composed of ten aspects, corresponding to the ten upper sefirot (divine channels) from which they came down in a chain, which divide into two.
And the thirst is from the element of fire in the nefesh elokit (the soul from God).
And the second nefesh (the lowest level of the soul) in Israel is, in fact, a part of Elohim from above.
So, by way of a parable, the souls of Israel rose in thought.
The meaning is, as the son is drawn from the brain of the father, so, so to speak, the soul of every man of Israel was drawn from His thought and His wisdom, blessed be He.
And though there are myriads of kinds of divisions of levels in the souls, high above high, without end, such as the greatness of the rank of the souls of the fathers and of Moses our teacher, peace upon them, over the souls of these generations of ours, of the heels of the Messiah, for they are in fact the aspect of heels as against the brain and the head.
And so in every generation and generation there are heads of the thousands of Israel, whose souls are the aspect of head and brain as against the souls of the multitude and the people of the land.
And if he sanctifies himself, he draws a holy garment for the soul of his son.
And even if it is a great soul, it needs the sanctification of his father, and so on.
But the soul itself, behold, sometimes the soul of a person high without end comes to be the son of a person who is despised and low, and so on, as the Ari, of blessed memory, wrote all this in Collected Teachings on the Torah, the portion Vayera, and in the Reasons of the Commandments, the portion Bereshit.
But the explanation of the matter is according to what Rabbi Chaim Vital, of blessed memory, wrote in the Gates of Holiness [and in the Tree of Life, gate 50, chapter 2], that every man of Israel, the one a tzaddik and the one a rasha, has two souls.
As it is written (Isaiah 57:16): "and the souls, I made," which are two nefashot (a nefesh is the lowest level of the soul).
And if his intellect and his mind are confused, and they walk in darkness in the service of Hashem, only with difficulty can he see the light, that it is good, the light hidden in the books, even though the light is sweet to the eyes and a healing for the nefesh (the lowest level of the soul).
Rather, even in the books of awe whose foundations are in the mountains of holiness, the midrashim of the sages of blessed memory, in whom the spirit of Hashem spoke and His word was on their tongue, and the Torah and the Holy One, blessed be He, are all one, and all six hundred thousand souls of Israel as a whole, and their particulars, and the particulars of their particulars, down to a light spark of the lightest, and those of little worth among our people, the children of Israel, all of them are bound with the Torah, and the Torah is what binds them to the Holy One, blessed be He, as is known in the holy Zohar, behold, this is a general path for Israel as a whole.
And these and those are the words of the living Elohim, a plural wording, named after the source of life for the souls of Israel, which are divided in a general way into three lines: right, and left, and middle.
And souls whose root is from the trait of kindness, their conduct too is to incline toward kindness, to be lenient, and so on, as is known.
He published it in Journey of Souls in 1994.
His institute tells of a depressed client in 1968 who went past her last death and met her soul group.

Ideas such as reincarnation, meditation practices, auras, and soul connections gained wider attention through books and study groups based on his work.
The mighty High Priest Imhotep of Atlantis was ruler of the tribe that took its wisdom to the west to form the Native American culture. The Cherokees were Wise Ones who carried the secrets of Atlantis. They brought their knowledge of shamanism and soul retrieval to the peoples, as well as their special abilities to work with dreams using dream catchers.
Symbolic and practical purification at altars so the body could become “an ideal temple for the soul.”
According to Edgar Cayce, the period when souls were still androgynous “Sons of God” was during the very early phases of the Atlantean civilization, long before recorded history.
Souls first began projecting into the earth plane as “thought-form” beings.
This phase is closely associated with Amilius, the spiritual leader whom Cayce identified as an early incarnation of the Christ soul, the same entity who later became Jesus.
It was part of a long, gradual process as souls densified into physical matter.
Genesis 2 (Adam formed from dust, and Eve from his rib) corresponds to the later stage, when the “helpmeet” was brought forth from within and souls were taking on more fixed physical forms.
According to Cayce, souls were still androgynous “Sons of God” during the early Atlantean era: in the time of Amilius, before the first major destruction of Atlantis (about 50,000 BC), and before souls became fully locked into separate male and female physical bodies.
“Sons of God” (also called Sons of the Creative Force, Sons of the Highest, or children of the Law of One) = the more spiritually advanced souls or lineages who maintained alignment with the divine Creative Forces.
This parallels the biblical “fall” narrative but expands it into a story of soul groups, reincarnation, and the misuse of spiritual powers for selfish/material ends.
Outside the Atlantis story, Cayce uses “sons and daughters of men” more generally to mean human beings living in the material, physical world — incarnated souls dealing with karma, doubts, fears, ego, and earthly limitations.
This fits Cayce’s overall philosophy of reincarnation, soul evolution, and the ongoing battle between spiritual ideals and material selfishness.
These three chakras – the stellar gateway, the soul star and the causal chakra – emit very different states of consciousness from the chakras we know today.
