The moon rings like a bell

Between 1969 and 1977, seismometers installed on the Moon by the Apollo missions recorded moonquakes. The Moon was described as "ringing like a bell" during some of those quakes, specifically the shallow ones.

On November 20, 1969, Apollo 12 deliberately crashed the Ascent Stage of its Lunar Module onto the Moon's surface; NASA reported that the Moon rang 'like a bell' for almost an hour, leading to arguments that it must be hollow like a bell.

The moon is a beautiful, beneficial energy.

Mani (Norse mythology) — Norse male personification of the Moon, brother of Sun goddess Sol; he chases the Moon across the sky.

Not a separate moon deity, but part of the mission's symbolic cosmology.

Sin — Mesopotamian (Sumerian/Akkadian/Babylonian) moon god, often shown with a crescent symbol; later associated with pagan worship in biblical/Christian contexts.

Diana — Roman goddess, equivalent to Greek Artemis; lunar aspects became prominent (hunt, wilderness, and Moon).

This spirit governs the things assigned to the Moon.

In Greek mythology, the moon is associated with the goddess Artemis, the twin sister of Apollo.

Selene is also a lunar deity, often identified with the moon.

The Roman equivalent of the Greek Selene, Luna was the goddess of the moon.

In Norse mythology, Mani is the personification of the moon, and he is chased across the sky by the wolf Hati.

The moon's phases were used as a natural calendar in ancient cultures.

The moon symbolizes concepts such as femininity, mystery, change, and the cyclical nature of life.

Myths feature creatures associated with the moon, like werewolves and lunar deities.
