Merkavah is the Hebrew word for chariot. In the Bible it is the throne chariot Ezekiel sees by the river Chebar; in Jewish mysticism it is the goal of a dangerous inner journey; and in modern spiritual sources the merkaba is a vehicle or body of light. In my research I follow all three. These are the pages where it comes up.
The chariot of Ezekiel
On Ezekiel the Prophet: Wheels Within Wheels and the Kavod I go through the vision verse by verse. The wheels are the part everyone remembers:
The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

On Kavod (glory), Ruach (spirit) and Merkaba (chariot) I set out the three Hebrew words: kavod is weight, ruach is wind, merkavah is a chariot. Mauro Biglino and Paul Wallis read them as a physical craft.
Chariots of fire
On Gods Who Travel in Fire: Mari, Ezekiel and Elijah’s Chariot I put the Basque goddess Mari flying in fire next to Ezekiel and the chariot that takes Elijah up.
The descent to the throne
On Merkabah mysticism and the descent to the throne the chariot becomes a practice. The mystic goes down rather than up, passes through palaces and meets frightening angels on the way to the throne, a tradition that later fed into Kabbalah.
A vehicle of light
