Mount Carmel Mystery School
In Anna, Grandmother of Jesus (Claire Heartsong, 2002), Anna says she left Jerusalem in 559 BC with her family to join the community on Mount Carmel, the mount where Samuel and Elijah had taught. There she became a full initiate of the Essene mysteries. She describes Carmel as an ancient school:
Carmel, as we called our monastery, is one of the most ancient mystery schools that survived numerous rises of civilization.

According to Anna, the school kept the lineage of the “Grail codes of ascension and incarnation”.
Elijah confronts King Ahab on Mount Carmel
Oahspe tells the contest as a tournament between the priests of Baal and Jehovih, decided by the angel Jerub, who ends with rain on Mount Carmel:
Elijah said: Summon thou thy priests, and thy high priests, who have power through Baal and Ashtaroth and Dagon, and they and their Gods shall try in a tournament against Jehovih.
Ahab caused the tournament to take place, and when the priests and high priests of Baal had spread the sacrifice they repeated their invocations for a miracle to prove the power of Baal and the other Gods; but lo and behold, Jerub, the etherean angel, with ten thousand spirits to assist him, prevented any sign or miracle being accomplished by the familiar spirits of Baal and Ashtaroth.
When the tournament was ended, Elijah went upon Mount Carmel, and prayed for rain, and Jerub, with ten thousand times ten thousand angels, brought the winds from the north and south and east and west, and the moisture in the air above was converted into rain, and thus the long drouth was ended.

In the canonical Old Testament, the same events are told in 1 Kings 18, especially verses 19–40. Elijah tells King Ahab to gather Israel and the prophets of Baal:
Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.

- Elijah confronts King Ahab and challenges the prophets of Baal. The “prophets of the groves” are the prophets of Asherah.
- The contest happens on Mount Carmel.
- The prophets of Baal prepare a sacrifice but get no fire.
- Elijah prepares his altar, has it soaked with water three times, and prays.
- “Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench” (1 Kings 18:38).
- The people fall on their faces and say: “The LORD, he is the God” (1 Kings 18:39).
- Elijah then prays on the top of Carmel, and the rain comes, ending the drought (1 Kings 18:41–45).
In Oahspe the fire and the rain come from Jerub and his angels. In 1 Kings they come from the LORD.
