Graham Hancock is a British author, born in Edinburgh in 1950. He studied sociology at Durham University and worked as a journalist. His early books were about international aid.
From 1992 he turned to the idea of a lost advanced civilisation from the last Ice Age. Fingerprints of the Gods, published in 1995, argues that such a civilisation lived in Antarctica and passed its knowledge to later cultures. He later linked its end to comet impacts about 12,900 years ago.
Archaeologists reject these claims and call his work pseudoarchaeology, meaning claims about the past that do not follow archaeological method.
Wikipedia notes that the book draws on Ignatius Donnelly’s Atlantis book. Two videos on this site are tagged with him.
