The afterlife on this site runs from the Egyptian land of the dead in the West to Sheol, Hades, the Tibetan Bardo and the near-death accounts of our own time. These are the pages where it appears.
The land of the dead in the West
On Anubis, guide of the underworld the jackal god guides souls through the astral and on to Amenti, the land of the dead. On The Egyptian Colony Ignatius Donnelly takes the direction of that land as one of his proofs that Egypt descended from Atlantis:
This land of the dead was situated in the West--hence the tombs were all placed, whenever possible, on the west bank of the Nile. The constant cry of the mourners as the funeral procession moved forward was, "To the west; to the west."
Ignatius Donnelly, Atlantis: The Antediluvian World

On Mummification I compare Donnelly with a second book: the Egyptians, the Guanches of the Canary Islands and the Peruvians all preserved the body because they believed in the immortality of the soul and the resurrection of the body. On OSIRIS & ORION: The Pyramids & Sphinx Represent A Very Mysterious Epoch the Pyramid Texts send the dead king toward Orion, the star of Osiris, god of the underworld. On Lee Carroll in Abydos, The Place Where Egypt Began Lee Carroll points out a room at Abydos with a boat used to guide souls into the afterlife.
Sheol, Hades and the judges
On Rephaites the Rephaim in Isaiah, Psalms and Proverbs are spirits in Sheol, the Jewish afterlife. The darker side of the other world, from Gehenna and Hades to Hel, Xibalba and the Duat, has its own page, Hell: Gehenna, Hades and the Underworld. On Persephone, daughter of Demeter and Zeus Hades, god of the Underworld, carries off Persephone from a meadow. On Minoan Civilization: Colony of Atlantis Minos becomes, after his death, one of the three judges of the dead in the Underworld. On Vanir gods represent the more peaceful and nurturing aspects of existence Freyja oversees part of the afterlife in her hall, Fólkvangr. On The island of Erytheia was guarded by Orthrus, a two-headed dog, and the cattle were herded by the giant Eurytion the far western island of the setting sun stands at the gateway to the afterlife in Greek thought, the same western direction Donnelly found in Egypt.
Atlantis and the channeled view
In Phylos’s account of Poseid, on Airship used for fast personal transport, Navazzamin is the realm to which souls pass after death. On After death the light at the end of the tunnel is read as the vibration of Arcturus, translated through the beliefs of the person who sees it. On Channeling Abram Abram describes the other side as a continuation of consciousness with greater awareness.
The Bardo and the near-death accounts
On This Ancient Book Reveals What Happens After DEATH Padmasambhava brings to Tibet the text that became the Bardo Thodol, the Tibetan Book of the Dead. On NDEs often lead to spiritual awakening Dr. Jeffrey Long draws on near-death experiences, where communication is telepathic and time is absent or changed. On The near death experience of Scott Drummond Scott Drummond remembers where he stood:
It was the most beautiful surrounding that I could have ever been in.
Scott Drummond, in The near death experience of Scott Drummond
On Life, Destiny & Karma Sadhguru takes the opposite view and calls the promise of heaven harmful, because it pulls people away from this life.
