Merope and the Meropes: Atlanteans and a Pleiad

The name Merope, or Meropes, links two threads in my research: a people of Atlantis in Greek tradition and one of the seven Pleiades, the daughters of Atlas. These are the pages where I wrote about both.

The Meropes of Theopompus

In my summary of Ignatius Donnelly’s chapter American Evidences of Intercourse with Europe or Atlantis, Theopompus called the inhabitants of Atlantis the Meropes, a name tied to the Greek μέροπες ἄνθρωποι, “the men sprung from Merou”, which fits Lenormant’s view that the human race came from Upa-Merou.

In The Deluge Legends of Other Nations Donnelly ties the name to a flood hero:

Merope of the Pleiades

In Greek myth Merope is one of the seven Pleiades, with Maia, Electra, Taygete, Alcyone, Celaeno and Sterope. The myth of the Pleiades as seven sisters transformed into stars to escape Orion makes them daughters of the Titan Atlas and the sea-nymph Pleione, and Pleione, one of the 3,000 daughters of the Titans Oceanus tells how Zeus turned them into stars to protect them from Orion. The Pleiadians repeats their names as stars.

Merope in modern channeling

Merope also appears in Pleiadian channeling. The post I follow on All humans with souls on Earth are either starseeds or Earth-native souls, sourced from Kabamur Taygeta, lists Merope among the stars most connected to Galactic Federation from which Pleiadian starseeds come. On Jesus – Pleiadian consciousness, Yeshua is said to be an incarnation of Sananda of Merope, a Pleiadian soul from the Galactic Federation.
