Varuna, the Vedic god of the waters and the cosmic order, is one of the gods Ignatius Donnelly drew into his Atlantis argument. These are the pages where he appears.
Varuna and Uranos
On The Aryan Colonies from Atlantis Donnelly makes the link:
The Hindoo god Varuna is conceded to be the Greek god Uranos, who was the founder of the royal family of Atlantis.
Ignatius Donnelly, Atlantis: The Antediluvian World

On Traditions of Atlantis he repeats it: among the Aditya is Varuna, whom he takes as the equivalent of Uranos. On Who Were the 12 Kings of Atlantis? the comparison table sets Atlas beside Varuna, as the eldest king beside the god of waters and cosmic order.
The Aditya of the waters
On 12 Adityas in Hindu Mythology Varuna governs the cosmic order and the waters, and on Rta: The Cosmic Order the Adityas, particularly Varuna, uphold Rta. On The Rigveda Samhita he is among the gods praised in the hymns. On Ila the Linga Purana and the Mahabharata tell how Ila is transformed into a male by Mitra and Varuna. On The worship of Crawling things Varuna is often depicted riding a crocodile.
