Uriel is the archangel whose name means “God is my light” or “Fire of God”. Not every Christian denomination recognizes him. In the Book of Enoch and in 4 Ezra he is the angel who explains.
The guide in the Book of Enoch
In the astronomical section of the Book of Enoch, Uriel shows Enoch the courses of the luminaries of heaven. The section’s opening sentence says who showed him:
which Uriel, the holy angel, who was with me, who is their guide, showed me
The Book of Enoch, Section III
That is the passage Archangel Uriel: God’s light quotes, and Book of Enoch points to it as the place where Uriel appears as the guide of the lights.
The warning to Noah
In the Book of the Watchers the Most High sends Uriel to the son of Lamech with a message: hide, the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is coming. Genesis 7: Noah and The flood prints the passage. It notes that this part of Enoch has no ark as a boat. The same page also prints a version of Genesis 7 in which Uriel, not God, speaks to Noah.
The 200 Grigori puts the warning in its setting. Samyaza, Azazel and the other Watchers taught their human hosts to make metal weapons and cosmetics that had been kept secret. The people were dying and cried out to heaven. God sends the flood to rid the earth of the Nephilim, and sends Uriel to warn Noah so that the human race is not wiped out.
The question of Ezra
In 4 Ezra, Ezra the scribe asks how God can keep Israel in misery if God is just. Uriel is sent to answer him. His answer, as Archangel Uriel: God’s light summarizes it, is that God’s ways cannot be understood by the human mind.
Below the earth
The same page says that in some texts Uriel guards the underworld and oversees Tartarus. Tartarus: The Abyss Where the Titans Were Imprisoned repeats that some texts give the archangel that role.
One of seven, and what he stands for
Archangel Michael: God’s strength and protection notes that the Secret Book of John, a Nag Hammadi text, places Michael over the demons who help Yaldabaoth create Adam, along with six others, Uriel among them. That is a Gnostic reading, and it is a long way from the Uriel of Enoch.
Matias de Stefano reads archangels differently. In Angelic Hierarchy he says:
Archangels are not people with wings

The video summary adds that the names stand for aspects of God’s will, and it gives Uriel’s name as “light of God”. Each Archangel is made up of many souls, combined for a singular purpose in the mind of the Divine. goes the other way and treats each archangel as a composite of many souls. A passage from Discover Atlantis quoted there gives Uriel’s ray as purple and gold light, which made the ruby.
