Joanna Prentis was born in Bangalore in southern India and grew up in Scotland. She later lived in Hong Kong and then for ten years in the Australian bush, where her three daughters were born. There she became interested in alternative medicine and education. She died in November 2020.
She trained in hypnotherapy and past-life therapy with Ursula Markham. Past-life therapy uses hypnosis to let a person describe what they experience as earlier lives.
In 1988 she and her daughter Tatanya founded the Starlight Centre in Devon, England, a centre for healing. With Stuart Wilson she wrote several regression books, including Atlantis and the New Consciousness.
