Charles Berlitz (1914 to 2003) was an American linguist and writer. He was the grandson of Maximilian Berlitz, who founded the Berlitz language schools. He spoke many languages and wrote language-learning books. He also served in the US Army, mostly in intelligence.

He became famous for his 1974 book The Bermuda Triangle. He wrote several books arguing that Atlantis was real. In them he claimed to have located Atlantis under the sea in the Bermuda Triangle area.

Atlantis: The Eighth Continent was published in 1984. Wikipedia also describes him as an ancient astronaut proponent, meaning he believed extraterrestrials visited Earth in the past.

Berlitz uses undersea research evidence to claim Atlantis existed as fact. He links it to a mystery greater than the Bermuda Triangle.
