Temple in Jerusalem

The Sadducees were a Judaic group drawn from the wealthy and aristocratic families. Many of the Sadducees were priests, and they dominated the Temple in Jerusalem. They were rigidly conservative in religion, severe in judgment and had no popularity amongst the people as a whole. They exercised power outside their stronghold of the Temple mainly by collaborating with the Pharisees.
