Jane Roberts (1929 to 1984) was an American author and poet. From late 1963 until her death she said she spoke for a non-physical personality who called himself Seth.
Her husband, Robert Butts, wrote down the sessions as she spoke. The resulting books are known as the Seth Material. Their central lesson is that people create their own reality through their beliefs.
Wikipedia calls the Seth books one of the cornerstones of New Age thought. It also says they brought the idea of channeling to a wide public. Channeling means a person speaking for another consciousness.
The Seth Material tells the story of the early sessions. The site also has a video, Jane Roberts – Seth On Dreams.
