Plato

The Laws

Buy on Amazon

Plato’s Laws is a dialogue about how a city should be founded and ruled. Benjamin Jowett translated it into English. I give the whole dialogue here, in twelve books, plus Jowett’s introduction and his excursus.

The text is the Project Gutenberg ebook 1750. The file names Benjamin Jowett and does not print a year. Readers usually identify this English with Jowett’s third edition (Oxford, 1892). I have not collated this file line by line against that edition. A book published in 1892 is in the public domain in the United States.
