In 1953 the German pastor Jürgen Spanuth placed Atlantis in the North Sea, at the Steingrund near Heligoland. He dated its fall to around 1200 BC. In his view, the survivors became the Sea Peoples who attacked Egypt.
The English edition, Atlantis: The Mystery Unravelled, appeared in 1956 with Arco Publishers in London and Citadel Press in New York. The German original is Das enträtselte Atlantis (1953).
