Wayne Morrison on a teenage near death vision

Wayne Morrison tells The Other Side NDE about a night in the early 1970s, when he was seventeen, that he still treats as a near death passage. He had taken medicine while ill, then drank at a party until awareness dropped. He reports motion through a dark noisy expanse toward a brightness, then over enormous flowers that seemed in conversation with him. A presence he felt he already knew gave information all at once, not in words. Asked what life was for, the reply came as an overwhelming love. He was shown distant civilizations and a tablet spinning in the dark, which he took as the whole span of the world in a flash. He did not want to return. Thousands of light beings sang until he understood he must. He woke in a bathroom, seeking a way back, until a deep voice refused and a door opened. A later television talk with Raymond Moody gave the experience a name. He thinks many people have known something similar, and he will not pin the presence to a church.

Key points

  • Morrison places the event in the early 1970s, at seventeen, after medicine and drinking at a party.
  • He describes giant flowers and a known presence that answered in direct feeling rather than speech.
  • The meaning he was given arrived as an overwhelming love, followed by views of other civilizations.
  • A spinning tablet showed him, in his account, the world’s whole history in a moment.
  • Light beings sang until he accepted a return, and a voice stopped him from trying to go back at once.
  • Raymond Moody’s book later gave him a frame, and he still refuses a religious label for the presence.
