In Greek myth, Aea (Αἶα) is the land of King Aeëtes, a son of the sun god Helios.
The city was said to be ruled by King Aeëtes, and it is linked to the myth of the Golden Fleece and the adventures of Jason and the Argonauts.
When the Argonauts finally reached Colchis, Jason sought the Golden Fleece from King Aeëtes.
Jason's success was due in large part to the help of Medea, the daughter of King Aeëtes, who had fallen in love with him.
